What is the population of LGBT people in the world?
The numbers of alternative sexually oriented people in the United States is less than 1.5 percent. They are a super minority in the country, but in a republic it only takes one voice to change everything.

Until recently they were all called “Gay” but following a revolution in 2010–2012 they began to organize into a recognized group and turned our nation upside down.
First they came for the recognition. Lawsuits and protests made it so soldiers didn’t have to hide their orientation. The policy from the 90’s had been “don’t ask, don’t tell.” Essentially the military deemed that sexual orientation did not matter, as sexuality was secondary to orders and honor. Now that policy is gone and the discipline went with it. Today there are about 300 openly Gay soldiers.
Second they came for the schools. In 2013 the term “transgendered” appeared. By 2015 it was a legal term. Basically if a person suddenly decided their genetic gender didn’t fit their profile they could switch to the other side at will.
Trans persons also demand their demonim be altered to their sexual mood. If a boy decided to be a girl, his demonim is then She, her, hers, instead of he, him, his. Then there’s an alternative for “bisexual” persons believing they have both genders at the same time. Non-Letters are required to call them It, It’s, they, them, theirs, etc, never describing a hardline gender at risk of violent outburst.
As a person that studies humanity, I tend to keep a few steps back from the Letters, Non-Letters debate. Personally I am a straight man who is attracted to straight women. I’m part of 98% of society.
I don’t fear the Letters though. I have worked with many of them and some Letters are my friends. I’m willing to work with them so long as they are not the violent type. I have zero patience for protestors without a cause though.
You can have your parade and festival in downtown Salt Lake City every year. I’m all for that. I love parades. They are peaceful, spread a message of love and hope.
It’s unfortunate that 1% of the 1% ruins the image of all the Letters.
Truth be told, no matter what they think they are, they’re all still human beings.

What's the distribuition of LGBT population worldwide?
It's impossible to say, for sure, for a number of reasons. One is that there's no clear definition for what makes a person 'gay'. Is it that they self-identify as gay? Because there are absolutely people who have homosexual relationships but don't consider themselves gay. Is someone gay if they've ever had a same-sex relationship? Is it defined by mere attraction? And if so, does that attraction have to be exclusive?

And if so, does that attraction have to be exclusive?
The other issue is that the primary data we can gather on the matter necessarily comes from self-reporting. And even in anonymous surveys, it's rarely clear whether people are being completely honest, even with themselves. For instance, in societies where homosexuality is more accepted, people are more likely to report having same-gendered attraction. Does social acceptance cause those desires? Of does it just make those desires easier to admit?
The data we have suggests that roughly 10% of men and 20% of women report having some level of same-sex attraction, but that's a broad spectrum, and includes those who are primarily heterosexual, but have the occasional curiosity about their own gender. About 1% of both men and women have traditionally identified as being exclusively homosexual, with no heterosexual attraction.
Now, it should be pointed out that these numbers are based on an American context, and are likely to vary widely by region and culture. And, as was pointed out, they vary over time, as societies change. So this is a moving target, not an absolute value.
Let's mess with some statistics! (I am not a statistician.)
Using 7.06 billion total people (from 2012),
And using 3% as the number of gay people (most recent studies place the number at 3-5%, but it is sometimes reported at 10% or higher),
At least 211.38 million people are gay or bisexual. For transgender people, we'll have to use some other numbers:
Drawing on information from four recent national and two state-level population-based surveys, the analyses suggest that there are more than 8 million adults in the US who are lesbian, gay, or bisexual, comprising 3.5% of the adult population. In to

Drawing on information from four recent national and two state-level population-based surveys, the analyses suggest that there are more than 8 million adults in the US who are lesbian, gay, or bisexual, comprising 3.5% of the adult population. In total, the study suggests that approximately 9 million Americans – roughly the population of New Jersey – identify as LGBT.
Among adults who identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual, bisexuals comprise a slight majority (1.8% compared to 1.7% who identify as lesbian or gay); women are substantially more likely than men to identify as bisexual; estimates of those who report any lifetime same-sex sexual behavior and any same-sex sexual attraction are substantially higher than estimates of those who identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual. There are also nearly 700,000 transgender individuals in the US. An estimated 19 million Americans (8.2%) report that they have engaged in same-sex sexual behavior and nearly 25.6 million Americans (11%) acknowledge at least some same-sex sexual attraction.

If there's 700,000 trans people in the US, out of 313.9 million (2012) people total in the US, that would be 0.22%. Assuming we can extrapolate to the world's population (nothing I know of suggests we can simply make that leap, but let's do it anyway), there would be 15 million transgender people in the world. I've also seen it estimated at "at least 18 million."
It is difficult to know this for many reasons:
1) it depends on how you define “gay”. Do you count bisexuals? Married men who sneak out on the “down low” with other guys behind their wives’ back (Craigslist used to have dozens of posting for that EVERY day—but these men would deny being “gay”). What about transgender, etc people?
2) Some surveys only count sexual ACTIVITY, so if a person is attracted to their own sex but not actually “having sex” (e.g. either a teenager who’s a virgin, or a 75-year-old who’s impotent and hasn’t had sex in years, but both can be 100% homosexual orientation, i.e.

It’s important that orientation, not activity, is counted. In the other direction, certain places—notably prisons, where men who are heterosexual but have no women around will have sexual contact with each other, out of “necessity”, but are not attracted to men innately and when they get out of prison, never have sex with men again—it’s possible to have homosexual ACTIVITY but not actually be “gay”.
3) What kind of answer you get GREATLY depends on the way it is asked. Anonymous surveys, where the respondent can be sure that nobody will ever trace the answer back to them, always come out with higher numbers than ones where someone is asked in person by a stranger, not knowing what will happen to the data.
With all of the caveats in mind, the generally-accepted portion of the population who identify as “gay” is usually around 3–5% when you average out the “statistically valid” studies.
When I was younger, I don't remember seeing any gay people at all. However, openly gay people are actually quite common now. So did gay people back then force themselves into leading straight lives they didn't like?
What causes homosexuality? Is it due psychological, genetical, or social reason?

The population of LGBT in the world is a debatable topic.
In report published in April 2016 by the Williams Institute estimated that 4.1% of Americans identified as gay/lesbian, bisexual, or transgender.[1]
But these are the people who identified themselves as LGBT i.e., they are out of the closet.
It is concluded that almost 8–10% of any given population belongs to LGBT.

Take India for instance, In 2012, 2.5 million Indian identified themselves as LGBT before Ministry of health. Now these were the people who identified in front of a government institution (where homosexuality is still a crime). This data was submitted to the Supreme court. And SC gave it’s judgement based on this data; calling LBGT, MINUSCULE Community.
Today the population of India is 1,354,051,854 (1.35 Billion). 10 % of our population i.e., 135 million is expected to belong to LGBT.
That is a significant number. It is almost twice the entire population of United Kingdoms (66,573,504= 66 million).
Coming back to the question, there is no stand alone realistic data for population of LGBT in the world. Main reasons for this flaw is that LGBT relations are illegal in 74 countries. In 72 countries, homosexuality is a criminal offence & in 12 countries homosexuality is punishable by death.
In such a situation we cannot expect majority of LGBT’s to come out of closet and identify themselves as they are.

All that aside it is generally accepted that the same sex community (gay lesbian bi and pan) makes up about 10%. Transgender people make up about 5 percent and then the rest such as intersex, gender diverse and asexual make up about another 2–5%
So all in all we are a big community making up about 20% of the population and I’m glad :D
The short answer is that no one really knows, but most data indicate that between 1.5% to 5.5% of the world population is gay.
Someone else can give a longer answer, I'm sure. You probably have seen a lot of gay people but never known it. Several people in this world do not want to discuss their sexuality and that can be for a number of reasons. Others aren't as harsh, but all countries in the world have some degree of prejudice, either legally or societally. Hence, gays aren't always open about their sexuality in public.

Define “homosexual”. Are you referring to being exclusively attracted to the same sex? Or just not completely hetero? Or something else?
A couple of years back the US government released a study
that said that 1.6% of Americans self-identified as gay, .7% self-identified as bi, and 1.1% said they were "something else". Only 96.6% said they were hetero.
First, it's safe to say that self-reporting (especially when there are real or perceived negative consequences to admitting to something) will always under report. There are those who are in denial. And those who just don't like labeling themselve

First, it's safe to say that self-reporting (especially when there are real or perceived negative consequences to admitting to something) will always under report. There are those who are in denial. And those who just don't like labeling themselves. So you should probably tack on a couple of percentage points.
And then there are the guys that are on the "downlow" - despite having sex with men they'll tell you that they're straight. Or the married guy that used to get wasted in college and do his frat brother - even if that happened every weekend. Or the "straight" guy that runs m2m ads on Craigslist.
But that study also said that 6% of those who self-identified as straight admitted to having been intimate with someone of the same sex.
My arithmetic tells me that [(1.6% gay) + (.7% bi) + (1.1% other) + (6% of 96.6%)] amounts to some ten percent of the population without making any allowance for under reporting. So it's not really that small a percentage of the population after all.
More recently, a study in the UK concluded that 23% of British people describe themselves as something other than 100% hetero while fully half of young people don’t identify as 100% hetero.
We have no real way of knowing, since being LGBT is looked down on, so most are in hiding.
A conservative estimate is that gays and lesbians are approximately 10% of the population.
Some people think bisexuals may be more common than straights. Gay and straight may be polar opposite extremes, both being only 10%, with the various levels of bisexual filling the remaining 80%.
Even in more Liberal societies people who are Bisexual may choose to simply live as if they are straight in order to not make waves.
For gay people, that is far more difficult.

Jesus knows.. Majority of LGBT are still closeted and afraid or shy of coming out so you never know exactly if an individual is straight or not, so this question can only be estimated but not answered.
Because we can’t measure it. There’s very less forms that puts “Others” when asked for sex of a person. And also no one answers “Others”
Half of the people haven’t either come out yet or lives in a anti-gay country or very religious to abandon it.
So, We really don’t know. Since, its natural and common nowadays it
