A question that comes up often with all types of sex toys is whether or not you can make your own. Some sex toys can be difficult or dangerous to fashion homemade versions, but as cock rings are so simple they are a little easier. They also don’t enter the body like many other sex toys, so there are a lot less risks with homemade cock rings.
A homemade cock ring can be very inexpensive and doesn’t take much effort to make. There are a number of materials around the house you can try, and it won’t take many skills to make. You might also want to make your own cock ring as a trial before buying a real one to see if you like them first.
When looking around your house for suitable things to use as a cock ring, one of the first ideas might be to use a rubber band. While these might seem like a good idea, rubber bands can be quite dangerous to your penis, so it’s best to avoid them.
Firstly, the materials used in rubber bands are quite rough. Not only can they generally irritate your skin, they might also tug on the skin or pubic hair while you wear them. The skin of the penis and scrotum is thinner than other parts of the body, so it is much more sensitive. This tugging or rubbing, can damage the skin causing chafing or even bruising.
Rubber bands also tend to be quite thin, so are very likely to snap while using them. If you’ve ever felt a rubber band ping against your skin, you can imagine how painful this will be on your penis. They can also pinch the nerves of the penis, which can cause numbness around the band.
Tight rubber bands might be quite difficult to remove, especially when erect. Much like while wearing them, while removing them it can pull on the skin or hair around the penis. It might also be difficult to stretch the band over the head of the penis, so you might have to wait until completely flaccid to remove it. This can be a problem if you need to remove it quickly and using scissors can put your penis at extra risk.
Having a rubber band on your penis for too long can cause permanent, irreversible damage to the tissue and nerves in both your penis and testicles. Rubber bands are even used in animal castration. They place a tight band around the testicles to restrict the blood. They leave the band on for a few days and eventually the testicles rot and fall of on their own. The exact same thing can happen with your own penis.
For the most part, using a homemade cock ring is the same as a store bought one. As long as you follow the same guidelines you should be fine. Don’t wear them for more than thirty minutes and be sure they are the right diameter before putting them on.
If you feel any pain during use of a homemade cock ring be sure to remove it immediately. If things don’t go back to normal within thirty minutes, then head to the doctors as you may have caused some damage to your penis. If any particular material has caused you problems when wearing them as a cock ring, then it would be wise to avoid using it again in the future.
In general, I would avoid it. This isn’t to say that it’s going to cause irreversible damage when used correctly, but there are still risks. You only get one penis, so I’d always recommend using a safe and well-designed cock ring from a reputable manufacturer. And always steer clear of rubber bands!
