Choose what animal you are going to make. Be sure you have all of the materials you need for it, and that it won't be too difficult to make. If you are making this with kids, be sure that they will be able to do it as well.

Choose the patterns and colors for the fabric. Plain colors work well too, but if you want to make a crazier animal or creature, go for crazier patterns.
https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/1/15/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-3-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-3-Version-2.jpg
/images/thumb/1/15/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-3-Version-2.jpg/aid563836-v4-728px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-3-Version-2.jpg

Fold the fabric in half, but make sure that the side that will be on the inside is facing out right now.
https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/8/82/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-4-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-4-Version-2.jpg
/images/thumb/8/82/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-4-Version-2.jpg/aid563836-v4-728px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-4-Version-2.jpg

Draw the base shape, for example if it was a dog stuffed animal, you would draw the body right now. Do not yet draw the feet, arms, tail, ears, etc.
https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/b/b3/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-5-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-5-Version-2.jpg
/images/thumb/b/b3/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-5-Version-2.jpg/aid563836-v4-728px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-5-Version-2.jpg

Cut out the shape.Leave a little extra space between the line you are cutting and the actual body, because when you sew it the overall size will decrease.
https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/b/b4/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-6-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-6-Version-2.jpg
/images/thumb/b/b4/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-6-Version-2.jpg/aid563836-v4-728px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-6-Version-2.jpg

Thread your needle. If you have a needle threader these make threading easier.
https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/a/ac/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-7-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-7-Version-2.jpg
/images/thumb/a/ac/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-7-Version-2.jpg/aid563836-v4-728px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-7-Version-2.jpg

Wear a thimble if you want, but you don't have to. Make sure the knot at the end of your thread is large enough that it won't come through the fabric.
https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/c/c9/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-8-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-8-Version-2.jpg
/images/thumb/c/c9/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-8-Version-2.jpg/aid563836-v4-728px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-8-Version-2.jpg

Poke the thread through the edge of the fabric. Keep stitching along the edge of your fabric until there is about 2–3 inches (5.1–7.6 cm) between the place you are now and the place where you started which is also where you will stop.
https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/e/e8/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-9-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-9-Version-2.jpg
/images/thumb/e/e8/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-9-Version-2.jpg/aid563836-v4-728px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-9-Version-2.jpg

License: Fair Use (screenshot)

"}

Turn the animal inside-out, or in this case outside-in.
https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/f/f4/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-10-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-10-Version-2.jpg
/images/thumb/f/f4/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-10-Version-2.jpg/aid563836-v4-728px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-10-Version-2.jpg

License: Fair Use (screenshot)

"}

Stuff the body using stuffing, or if you don't have any stuffing use string or old fabric. Stitch up the remaining section after the body has been stuffed. Tie a strong knot that will not untie. cut the extra thread off.
https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/d/dd/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-11-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-11-Version-2.jpg
/images/thumb/d/dd/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-11-Version-2.jpg/aid563836-v4-728px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-11-Version-2.jpg

License: Fair Use (screenshot)

"}

Using the same or a different fabric, and making sure that the fabric it inside-out folded in half, draw any other body part you want to have on your animal/creature. Do the same thing that you did in step 8 through 10, stitching, turning outside-in, and stuffing all the body parts. Make as many as you want, because this does not have to be a real animal.
https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/8/81/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-12-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-12-Version-2.jpg
/images/thumb/8/81/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-12-Version-2.jpg/aid563836-v4-728px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-12-Version-2.jpg

License: Fair Use (screenshot)

"}

Sew all of the body parts to the body. Make sure all of your knots are very strong and will not untie.
https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/d/d7/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-13-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-13-Version-2.jpg
/images/thumb/d/d7/Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-13-Version-2.jpg/aid563836-v4-728px-Make-an-Easy-Stuffed-Animal-Step-13-Version-2.jpg

License: Fair Use (screenshot)

"}

To make a face, simply embroider one or sew buttons on. Secure all of your knots, and make sure there is nothing else you want to add.

Admire your beautiful, hand sewn creation!

Can I use a glue gun instead because I can't sew very well?

Probably, but you'll need to use fabric glue. They sell it at any craft store.

How long will it take to make a stuffed animal?

It could take anywhere from 15-45 minutes, depending on whether or not you have any experience with a project like this.

Do you think it would be possible to make a puffin using this?

Sure! You can sew anything you want. A puffin shouldn't be too hard. You might even be able to find some guides or tutorials online. Check YouTube.

My Homemade Animal Crackers recipe is so easy that even a 16-month-old can make them! They're big, crunchy, and sweet like the store-bought animal crackers you know and love.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and honey until well combined.
Add the egg and vanilla, and beat in.
Next, add the dry ingredients: the flours, baking powder and cinnamon and mix to form a dough.
Wrap the dough in cling wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. (You can use it straight away but it's a little easier to roll when it has chilled for a bit).
Pre-heat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Roll half of the dough out onto a floured surface, about ¼ inch thick.
Using Animal Cookie Cutters or any cookie cutters cut out the dough into shapes. Place the crackers onto prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden brown around the edges.
Let cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheets before enjoying. Stored cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days.

Consider this my homage to store-bought animal crackers—a long-time favorite for a lot of families, including my own! But this recipe is particularly special for me because it was my first time baking in the kitchen with George lending a helping hand!
George (and I!) adore our Sprout’s Sous Chef Toddler Tower —I’m honestly sorry I didn’t get it sooner! He is climbing up and down the tower from morning to night to help his parents at the counter. I’ll sacrifice a banana, orange, or carrot and let him stand with us and chop it up. It’s really given us all hours of entertainment, and he loves having a job to do.
These homemade animal crackers taste similar to a graham cracker because I include whole wheat and cinnamon, and George loves them! He gets them as a potty training reward—and I get them as a reward for helping potty train!
Animal crackers are a classic staple in plenty of households with young children. They’re cutely shaped as circus or zoo animals, taste delicious, and easy for little hands to hold on to. But if you check out the ingredients on the back, you may pause before giving them to your little one.
Making homemade means you know exactly what goes into your crackers—I use a combination of sugar, honey, vanilla, AP flour, whole wheat flour, and cinnamon. Plus, you get the experience of making a wonderful treat together! Oh, and did I mention that these are BIGGER Animal Crackers than normal?
Making these easy-to-buy crackers are actually extremely easy-to-make at home too! Here is how you make homemade animal crackers ( get the full, printable recipe with measurements below ):
Homemade animal crackers will keep fresh in an airtight container, at room temperature, for up to a week! See my note about always having some ready to bake by freezing the dough above!

This is such a precious video. Georgie is such a cutie. He reminds me of my blond blue-eyed son. ❤️
Most fun I’ve had baking in awhile! Recipe was super simple to put together. The dough formed nicely and these baked off just right. Can’t wait to share with my favorite toddler, but these are a fave for the adults in the house too.
These look lovely! Cookie cutting stamps, as you said, are adorable (just like your little sous chef😉)! I’m thinking of getting some stamps for my 1yr cousin, should be great🤩
Awesome video .. Georgie is too cute. Hey maybe with the extra vanilla he created a new animal cracker recipe.
he is beautiful!, and so big already.
Can the whole wheat flour be substituted for oat flour? If so is it a 1:1 substitution?
As the Mama of a 2 year old little boy I positively loved watching this video. My little man loves to help in the kitchen. This recipe will be next on our list for sure!
by any chance can I use only white flour? my kids are picky! cute recipe!
