One bag which contains personal belongings (shopping bag, hand bag, etc.) and one additional bag can be carried onboard on the Japan Flights that meet the following conditions. Also, the total weight of both bags must not be more than 10kg (22lbs).

•   Your baggage may need to be checked in a cargo compartment at the boarding gate or cabin if it is oversized or overweight, or unable to be appropriately stowed in the cabin due to the storage limitations. The electronic devices must be switched off in your checked baggage. Valuables should not be included in your checked baggage.

•   Some dangerous items are not allowed by the law as either carry-on or checked baggage.

CARRY-ON ITEMS WITH RESTRICTIONS

Liquids

There are volume restrictions for fluids that can be carried onto international Japan Flights. All liquids with a capacity no greater than 100ml must be in containers.

Place all containers into a transparent and re-sealable plastic bag of a maximum capacity not exceeding one litre if you’re traveling with more than one container.

One bag per person

Please properly pack the bag, see if your bag exceeds size restrictions, place it inside baggage to be checked, and inform the check-in counter staff. Note that other countries have similar restrictions if your itinerary involves a transit. These restrictions also apply to passengers transiting to international routes after arriving in Japan. When going through the security check-in Japan for the connecting flight, passengers carrying alcohol and other liquid goods purchased inflight or at a duty-free shop in a foreign country will be asked to dispose of them.

How to store your bags on board?

•   For your own safety and comfort, please stow your carry-on baggage under the seat or in the overhead compartments properly to avoid the following situations. Also, we would appreciate your cooperation with offering consideration for the nearby passengers when stowing your bags.

•   For bulkhead, other seats without seats in front, and emergency exit, baggage may not be kept on the floor or the lap during takeoff and landing.

•   Your baggage should be stowed by you under the seat in front or in the overhead compartment.

•   Your baggage should be carried on by you within the purview of storable size and weight in the overhead compartment.

•   Baggage cannot be placed under the seat during takeoff or landing on international Business Class Japan Airlines Flights equipped with JAL SHELL FLAT SEAT or Premium Economy Class flights equipped with JAL SKY SHELL SEAT. (Please use the overhead stowage compartments.)
