God Tamer is a minor antagonist and optional boss in Hollow Knight . Along with her trained beast, she is a veteran warrior who competes in the Colosseum of Fools, participating for the sport of slaughtering others.

Little is specifically known about God Tamer's origins, although the Hunter believes her to be a veteran warrior of the Colosseum of Fools. Even after she and her trained beast were infected with Infection, she continues battling in the Colosseum, this time hunting down the other fighters for the sport of it.

God Tamer is fought only at the very end of the Trial of the Fool, the third and last trial of the Colosseum of Fools; should the player lose to God Tamer, they must go through the entire trial from the beginning. However, there is enough time for the player to heal before she enters the arena, and both her and her beast have little health compared to the other bosses.

God Tamer's tactics are limited as the only attack she can pull is a leap attack, in which she leaps to where the Knight was at the start of the leap and swings her lance down. Her beast on the other hand, has two attacks, one of which is a spewing of Infection blobs in three groupings with two safety spots in between each grouping; the other attack is a roll across the arena similar to that used by the Watcher Knights , although instead of stopping when a wall is hit, the beast climbs the wall and then jumps to where the Knight was standing when the leap began.

Defeating God Tamer and her beast wins the Trial of the Fool, and the Knight is ranked as "The Champion of Fools". Other than obtaining an achievement and Geo, the player does not receive any items or upgrades, making the fight only required to achieve a 100% game completion ranking.

Veteran warrior of the Colosseum of Fools. Fights by the side of creatures she has trained. Some hunters train beasts to join them in chasing down prey. I tried it once, but couldn't resist the urge to test my companion's strength against mine.

I need help, I struggle with him even more than I do with Grimm or Zote. Any tips that worked for you to beat it?

You only have to take down the beast to win, so don’t focus on the rider. Also hug the upper corners; the rider can’t ht you unless she jumps from right below you, and the beast can’t get you with the spit. You only really have to worry about the roll, which aims at where you are when it hits the wall. Wait for a roll, jump off the wall(minding the rider’s location), get a few hits in on the beast, and then retreat back to the other wall.

Generally: stay as far away from the beast as possible. If it's too close and the acid it spits can reach you, stay on the wall. When it charges, hop over it (using the wall if necessary) and it it a few times as it comes down. You can mostly ignore the tamer. After you got a few hits on the beast, retreat to the far wall where you'll have hopefully time to heal from any damage you take from the tamer (depending on whether the beast decides to spit acid after you)

Learn the beast's attack patterns and focusing on attacking, you only need to kill the beast to beat them both.

The strat I used to win was simply pogoing on the beasts back for basically the whole fight. When the fight starts, you need to wait for an opportunity to jump over the beast and start pogoing. When the rider jumps at you, dash behind the beast (preferably without dashing into the rider) so you can avoid the beasts spit. If the beast decides to roll, continue to pogo until it moves, then you just move out of the way (the beast will land in the spot you were pogoing it). I recommend going to the half with the most room for you to walk. I was able to beat Godtamer first try using this method, but maybe I was just lucky.

This is more for the mount than the actual god tamer, but it helped me beat it. Use the sharpshadow or shadow dash to dodge the roll attacks. Nail jump on the beast to deal damage and avoid the ranged attacks. This method works pretty well for the bossfight, but you will still probably take some damage.

All of your tips helped me a lot. Now I can beat him constantly. Thx!
