The Hole Pro hole enlarger tool very well and I only needed the hole saw for the new hole as the tool adjusts to fit inside an existing hole. With the Bosch hole enlarger kit one needs to have a hole saw that is an exact fit for the existing hole AND a hole saw for the larger hole needed. With the Hole Pro hole enlarger all I do is rotate the center and it expands to fit snuggly inside the existing hole and I then inserted the pilot bit of the hole saw arbor into this center shaft and cut the new hole. With this tool I can use any hole saw or carbide grit hole cutter for recessed lights and not be limited to only Bosch bi-metal hole saws as with the Bosch hole enlarger tool. I am also not limited in terms of the size of the new hole as with the Bosch tool. I can even use the Hole Pro X-230 adjustable hole cutter (or their T-200 hole cutter)to make a new hole up to 9 inches in diameter and use its dust shield to catch all the shavings when cutting into a ceiling. The only time I would use a different enlarging tool would be to make a slightly larger hole for a lockset in a door and even then it would not be the Bosch tool that forces one to use the Bosch hole saws.
I used it to make 4 inch ceiling lighting holes into 6 inch LED dropdown lighting holes It worked perfectly! Best of all, because the old 4 inch holes were placed too close to the heating vents to be able to enlarge the hole into a 6 inch centered hole, I was able to use the Hole Pro Hole Enlarger Kit to make a perfect off center 6 inch hole. Normally the Enlarger Kit would be set up with a centered hole - 2 inched on each side. I set it to be 1 inch on one side and 3 inches on the other. Worked great.
The Hole Pro hole enlarger is a good design that needs only a single hole saw for the new larger hole which save my money and the trouble to find a hole saw to fit the existing size holes in a snug manner. Fast to adjust the extension of the two arms to get a tight fit and then put the drill arbor’s pilot bit through the hole and start cutting the new hole. Takes very little space when not needed which is great. Unlike the Bosch tool I have used the Hole Pro enlarger will work with regular hole saws.
Having tried the Bosch hole enlarger kit that takes only Bosch hole saws and where I need two hole saws for each hole I want to enlarge, I knew there had to be a better option. Found the Hole Pro kit and decided it was worth trying. Glad I did as it works very well and it is made to last.
Worked awesome for enlarging existing hole in drywall to install larger recessed lights. Clean cuts, highly recommend.

I worried about spending the money but after the first few holes it was obvious this is absolutely well worth the money the hard shield keeps your gun perpendicular to the ceiling the blades cut without tearing up the wallboard the depth setting is just great when you have to cut just the wall board and not cut into a truss just follow the instructions and do read them because you need to put the blades on in the configuration they tell you to you need to tighten things the way they tell you to do if you do those things this is perfect had to drill 60 holes and not one of them changed size or was drilled in properly or caused a problem with my wall board can't recommend this any higher
I use this tool to cut recessed light and ceiling fan holes in the ceiling. The tool is exceptional in catching and holding the dust which would otherwise damage your lungs and make a huge mess. For that reason I have purchased and installed vacuum adapter (~ $25 from the same company) which can easily be installed after you drill a hole in the clear plastic shield (dust collector). My Fein HEPA vacuum sucks the sheet-rock dust during the drilling, making it easier to see the drilling through the clear plastic shield. For good results, use a low speed, high torque drill - you won't be disappointed - but it works OK with a cordless drill (although it tends to jam and sometimes damage the hole). To improve the operation and results of this unit, I have made some improvements: (1) I drilled 20 ~ 30, 1/16" holes in the clear shield (Upper Wall, All The Way Around) in order to reduce the vacuum created inside the shield until ceiling hole is cut and air gets in). This reduces jamming of the cutters into the sheet rock because the cutters get sucked - due to vacuum build up - in and pressed against the ceiling. These tiny holes I drilled in the clear shield replenish the air and dust which are much more easily sucked inside the vacuum. (2) I disassembled the unit, took out the marked bar - on which the cutters glide and fasten - grinded the tiny metal stoppers in order to take the cutters out and use Milwaukee Recessed Light Shallow Hole Saws. This saves tons of time and frustration every time the cutters have to be readjusted/set. Now I only swap the hole saws, no wasted time and frustration repositioning and tightening the cutters on the holding bar. Note: Only shallow, recessed light hole saws (I use Milwaukee) fit in. (3) The shaft gets jammed inside the plastic shield ball bearing, very annoying trying to work like that. I used drum grease to make it more responsive (help the shaft move smoothly up and down inside the ball bearing), therefore giving me better control over the whole cutting process. Next time I will lubricate the shaft/inside ball bearing with Teflon Spray or Graphite Spray. I love this tool, it is very reliable, clean and productive.
This is the best product for its intended purpose. I can't give 5 stars or this product because of one problem, it's not a deal breaker but something to be aware of. My biggest hang up is that the dust from drywall will dry out the driiling shaft and restrict the shaft from spinning freely of the hood. When it does this the plastic shield will try to spin with shaft when you first plunge into the substrate your are drilling. Once plunged the gasket and vacuum will hold in place, beware though when the hood does spin the hose attachment accessory will hit your hand hard so you got to lubricate the drilling shaft often to prevent this. The manufacturer should install a bearing on top of the dust shield where the shaft goes in to prevent the shaft from spinning the dust hood when this occurs. If you lubricate it you will be fine but the lubricant can get in with the dust and stain the clear dust hood restricting the visibility of the hole saw. Mainly it makes a little mess. Like I said before if you are working in an area where dust control is a must this is the best at that. I have several dust extractors (Festool) and dust drilling accessories yet this is the best for drilling can lights and large holes in existing ceilings. Don't hesitate to buy it but be realistic that nothing is perfect.
