The photography is specially good. The actors are making a very good atmosphere in a relationship that seems to be a love story. Also is very interesting for someone who does not know japan, because its take place in a very nice part of Japan (Hokkaido) but at the same time is very real Japan countryside. In this film we also see a part of Japan that not other films had showed yet.the character of the actor is very is very Japanese buy it also has something that every men in the world have. The girl is just fantastic the way she performs, is all in her expressions she transmit the meaning of the film. I really like the title of the film. Sora no Ana. Hole in the Sky. How ever thought about the sun as a hole in the sky ENJOY IT TOO

William Kittredge's stunning memoir is at once autobiography, a family chronicle, and a Westerner's settling of accounts with the land he grew up in. This is the story of a grandfather whose single-minded hunger for property won him a ranch the size of Delaware but estranged him from his family; of a father who farmed with tractors and drainage ditches but consorted with movie stars; and of Kittredge himself, who was raised by cowboys and saw them become obsolete, who floundered through three marriages, hard drinking, and madness before becoming a writer. Host hauntingly, Hole in the Sky is an honest reckoning of the American myth that drove generations of Americans westward -- and what became of their dream after they reached the edge.
Autobiography/Memoir "A pleasure to read ... [Kittredge] has written a remarkably frank account of his own life, and at every stage it was interesting.... You will not have read another Western like this." -- Washington Post Book World "A grand and true story by one of our finest writers." -- Annie Dillard "The story of the Kittredges ... intersects mightily with the myth of American expansion and 'improvement' of the 'wilderness.'... a valuable memoir that should be read with care ... [Kittredge's] voice should be a prophetic one." Chicago Tribune

My love affair continues. The rhythm of the words, sometimes more than the words themselves, stir up a romantic longing for simpler, yet harder times. Mr. Kittredge has a way of telling that creates an infatuation. A poetic cowboy, but in the way of an old Western, John Wayne. Leaves me forever sorrowful that I was born with the wrong constitution, I should be living on the plains of Montana or Wyoming, breathless at the sights and sounds of the way the land used to look before man claimed it. If you love stories of the west, tales of how hard work can make men and women hard, and like to reminisce over times when the land was pure and untouched, this is a good fit. If you don't want to know the truth about the many bad choices Mr. Kittredge has made because you want to continue to behold him as your western hero, you may not like his story.

I bought this book because I live in Eastern Oregon and was eager to read a memoir of someone with literary skills and a regional ranching background. What I got was very satisfying writing, and an insight into agri-business. What I didn't like was the anxiety ridden, self-deprecating, mostly negative tone and typical alcoholic blaming of everyone else for one's shortcomings. In his defense, he was born into an era when male writers were influenced by others who were romanticized as self-obsessed and notorious drunks. Their literary license was seen as more important than the welfare of their loved ones. I kept waiting for him to "get it." He never did.

Wow! What an outstanding book. I grew up nearby, and recall running into the author several times over the years, but I had no idea of much of this history and the close connections to my own life growing up in SE Oregon.

Well written western biography. A life well examined. It's too bad that it's not readily available.

He went into a lot of detail about a life that led to his career as a writer-boring!

A good book and enjoyable style of writing. Kittridge is always interesting reading for me.

I had read the book and then lost it. An excellent follow up on the family and Eastern Oregon area is Bill Kitt

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
" Hole in the Sky " is a song by the English heavy metal band Black Sabbath . It is the opening track on their sixth studio album, Sabotage , released in 1975.

Author Mick Wall wrote that the song features a "door-slamming riff that wouldn't have been out of place on Paranoid " [1] (the band's second album, released in 1970). Music scholar Nolan Stolz identifies three guitar riffs played by guitarist Tony Iommi in the song: a main riff, a second riff heard at both around 24 seconds and 58 seconds into the track ("similar to—and a logical outgrowth of—the first"), and a third, four-second-long riff present during the song's chorus after the first two verses. [2] Stolz notes that the third riff "is based on a one-second-long rhythmic idea played four times, but with the chords changing on the third and fourth times." [2] This is paired with drummer Bill Ward playing a tom drum and cymbal at both about 120 beats per minute (bpm) and 180 bpm, applying "an Afro-Cuban-like feel". [2] After the fourth verse, the second riff is recalled, and the main riff is played three-and-a-half times before the song comes to an abrupt end. [2]

Following the song's sudden cutoff, the album segues immediately into the next track, "Don't Start (Too Late)", [1] an acoustic instrumental that runs for under a minute in length. Wall asserts that the abrupt ending of "Hole in the Sky" emphasises "the sheer anger of the song". [1]

"Hole in the Sky" features vocals by Ozzy Osbourne . [1] Author Mick Wall wrote that, in the song, "Ozzy rants and raves about going through a hole in the sky, 'seeing nowhere through the eyes of a lie. ' " [1] Philosopher and writer William Irwin characterizes the song as having themes of "cosmic travel" [3] and "apocalyptic warfare". [4]

Bassist and songwriter Geezer Butler described "Hole in the Sky" as being about pollution . [2]

In 2020, Joe DiVita and Eduardo Rivadavia of Loudwire ranked "Hole in the Sky" number 23 in their ranking of every Black Sabbath song from the era in which Osbourne was the band's vocalist. [5] In 2021, Louder Sound ' s Paul Brannigan ranked the song number 19 on his list of the 40 best Black Sabbath songs, referring to the track as "a master class in straight-to-the-point metal." [6]
