What the hell is Black Hole chan? Easy! Black Hole chan is the Moe Anthropomorphization of a black hole. Even easier: It is a human manga version of an astronomical black hole.
The character became famous around the web together with characters such as the Earth-chan during 2017 and 2018, after the first one was published in late 2015 by the user Sawasawa on the Pixiv platform.
After the first one was created, many more appeared on the web, making it a wildly famous meme loved by many!
Among those that contributed to its fame, the most prolific artist definitely is BSA Apricot, that posted several art pieces of Black Hole chan during winter 2017-2018.
However, many other people created cool art pieces about Black Hole chan over the years, across several web platforms. For example, BSA Apricot posted two comics on Twitter, and got retweeted 2,800 times and received 9,500 likes.
Other famous Black Hole chan pieces were created by Taymabe, an Instagram artist, who obtained over a hundred likes, and @unkomoreso720, who got retweeted 4,600 times on Twitter and obtained over 10,000 likes.

Hol Chan Marine Reserve is a marine reserve close to Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker , off the coast of Belize . It covers approximately 18 km² (4,448 acres) of coral reefs , seagrass beds, and mangrove forest . Hol Chan is Mayan for "little channel".
In the early 1980s fish stocks in the area around Hol Chan began to dwindle and at the same time tourism to the Cayes began to increase. Disputes arose over access to the Hol Chan cut, a natural break in the reef, which was a productive fishing area but also popular with snorkelers and divers . Proposed fishing bans were rejected and in the mid 1980s public consultation over establishing a marine protected area began. Reserve status was also called for by international organizations such as the New York Zoological Society (NYZS) and Peace Corps, due to the unique formation of the channel, the abundant fishery resources (including conch and lobster) and the feasibility of including an interlinked system of coral reef, sea grass and mangrove habitats in this area.
Between 1985 and 1987, Janet Gibson worked to establish the a protected reserve campaigning with citizens, businesses, fishermen, and the government of Belize and educating them on the need for the project. [2] In 1986, she wrote the Hol Chan Marine Reserve Draft Management Plan to develop the feasibility for the project. [3] Based on environmentalist's efforts, the reserve was established in July 1987 with funding from WWF and USAID , after the draft management plan was approved by the Fisheries ministry and the local fishermen's co-operative. Active enforcement of the regulations began in 1989 and charging for entrance to Zone A started in 1990. The reserve was originally divided into three areas:
In 1999 the adjoining area of Shark Ray Alley was added as zone D of the reserve. This is a second charged snorkeling area, but commercial and sport fishing are permitted in some parts of this zone on obtaining a license.
Zone A mostly consists of the Hol Chan Cut, a natural break in the reef. The cut is approximately 23 m (75 ft) wide and 9 m (30 ft) deep (Hol Chan is Mayan for "little channel"), and is rich in marine life. Around the cut the sea can be as shallow 1.5 m (5 ft). On the outside of the reef the channel slopes into the Caribbean , and on the inside of the reef tails off into the shallows.
Zone B has Boca Ciega Blue Hole, a sinkhole, which opens into a larger underwater cavern. It is dangerous for inexperienced divers, so is not regularly visited.
Zone D, Shark Ray Alley, is a shallow sandy-bottomed area inside the reef, unremarkable except that it is a gathering place for sharks and stingrays . It was an area traditionally used by fishermen to clean their nets before returning to port, and the abundance of food that entered the water as a result attracted the sharks and rays to feed. The presence of these fish was actively encouraged as a tourist attraction — being fed by local tour guides; the shallow clear waters make it an ideal spot for snorkelers to observe the creatures.
Hol Chan Cut is open to the sea beyond the reef, so allows marine creatures to travel from the outside of the reef to the inside and vice versa. Over 160 species of fish have been recorded in the reserve, along with forty types of coral, five species of sponge, two sea grasses, three species of sea turtle and three marine mammals: the short-beaked common dolphin , pantropical spotted dolphin and West Indian manatee . Spotted eagle rays and southern stingrays are common at the bottom of the channel. Lobsters , moray eels and sea anemones live among the rocky outcrops, and some of the many corals include brain coral , elkhorn coral , and finger coral . Jacks , groupers , snappers and barracuda are all common.
The mangrove forests act as nurseries for many fish species. Adult blue striped grunts , French grunts , white grunts , gray snappers , French angelfish , gray angelfish , and seahorses may also be found among the mangroves. The seagrass beds have parrotfish , hogfish , and occasional turtles. Manatees are rare visitors. Shark Ray Alley has nurse sharks , rays, and occasionally other fish.
The reserve is managed by the Hol Chan Marine Reserve Trust Fund Committee, which replaced the informal advisory committee which ran the reserve until 1994. The majority of the funds for the park's upkeep is generated from the fees charged to visitors for access to Zones A and D. These are not collected directly but instead via a yearly licensing scheme which applies to the boats of tour guides . Funding from the WWF ended in 1995.
The establishment of the reserve in 1987 included four main goals. These were:
While fish stocks have increased, the fishing industry has continued to decline, and the management is faced with other problems: clearance of mangroves and other habitats in areas adjacent to the reserve, which affects the reserve [ citation needed ] but over which the committee has no control. There is an increasing numbers of tourists, which increases revenue to the reserve through fees. However, this situation puts pressure on the facilities both within the reserve and the nearby towns of San Pedro and Caye Caulker. There is a threat to the reserve as the amount of tourists are affecting the life of the corral.

Great stay at Hol Chan. Friendly concierge (Sandra) and other staff. Everything was clean inside and outside. There’s a beautiful view that you can see from the window or go out on the patio/balcony. I’d stay here again without a doubt. Try it out!
Room Tip: wifi in our condo was spotty - but vacation is a time to disconnect anyway

Our family of 5 adults had an amazing time at the resort. The condo was beautiful with an ocean view and beautiful pools. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Sandra the concierge is top notch! She took care of any arrangements we needed and answered questions promptly before and during our stay. From golf cart rental to airport transportation to dinner reservations, she took care of everything. It was so nice to have a friend to call on when you needed something. Beautiful property with kayaks and SUPs free for use. A bit far from town (20 mins. ) but the quiet was so worth it and there were numerous restaurants close by. I would stay here again for sure! Unbelizeable!

Hol Chan is at the quieter end of San Pedro. The condos are very clean and well decorated. The balconies are substantial and offer beautiful views! The elevator also will take you to the roof for special sunsets! No bar on premises but directly across the street is “Stacks!” Nifty open bar with excitingly tempting and delicious drinks! Really good pizzas and BBQ that’s top notch! A fun and relaxing spot. Sandra G. is the concierge extraordinaire! There’s nothing she can’t make happen! Knows All the great people and well connected! Magically, Sandra makes it happen!

We stayed at Hol Chan Reef Resort & Villas (condo 2D) in April 2022. We had six adults and one baby. There was plenty of room, and it was relaxing, comfortable and had an amazing view the ocean. Sandra Gutierrez, our concierge, was wonderful! She was very informative, friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend Hol Chan Reef Resort & Villas. The Riggs/Thielen family from Kansas, USA 🇺🇸

This place is fantastic! Our party had 3 adults, 1 child and we all had a blast. Golf cart is needed but don’t worry Sandra will help you out with that! And Yolanda will help with all your tour needs. These women are awesome. It was quiet every night. We will be back. The condo was well appointed and if something was missing they helped. This was my third time to San Pedro and I recommend this amazing place to anyone.

We got a three-bedroom apartment with granite countertops and a balcony with a view to die for. The photos don’t lie. The place really is a beautiful as it looks. They will arrange for a golf cart and leave the keys in the room, tours, flights, and even COVID tests. The tours pick you up off the dock at the end of the property. We were glad we got the golf cart as it is 3.5 miles from town. There is a pretty good restaurant right across the road with good drinks and pizzas.
Room Tip: Any room will be amazing

Sweet out-of-the-way place to stay. Stax (the bar across the road) was a great complement to our room. It was awesome to get picked up from the dock for day trips. The concierge and everyone working here was great and easy to work with. They all helped us have a great vacation.

Hol Chan was awesome! We stayed in 4D and it was perfect for us. The elevator doesn’t work because they are waiting for a part but that is no fault of Hol Chan. Everyone is waiting for parts everywhere. Sandra and Yolanda from Suya Management helped us so very much with everything from organizing and booking excursions to getting more water to decorating for our daughters 18th birthday and ordering birthday cake, lining up shuttle rides and golf carts and airfare from Belize City to San Pedro, restaurant reservations and recommendations. All of it was taken care of perfectly. 5 stars!!

We returned from a week at Hol Chan Reef Villas yesterday. Our group of 10 booked 2 units (4D and 1E) and could not have been happier. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The pools were gorgeous and the paddle boards and kayaks were great. It's quiet and in a great, safe location. The best part about a stay at Hol Chan is the concierge, Sandra. She took incredible care of our group! Meeting us upon arrival with fresh made ceviche and rum punch. Booking us dinner reservations when we were going to be away from cell service for the day and unable to book our own. And booking sending 2 ladies from Rose Spa to give us massages in our room on a rainy day within an hour of our request. The cleaning team was also lovely as was the maintenance team who we met a couple of times during our stay. Thank you Hol Chan! We will be back. …
Room Tip: 4D is beautiful. The top floor with the best views.
