Halloween is coming faster than a witch on a vibrating broom and though I do love candy, costumes, and crisp-autumn-morning chubs, the holiday season also carries construction deadlines. There’s nothing I love more than a good, solid ride down the pole, but things get too hot to handle for my big hammer swinging hunk at the new ghost hunters’ headquarters when we find a skeleton in the locker. It seems a ghost of the past has come to rattle Neighborly Nate's bones. And just when the Monster Mansion is ready for the final magic touch, our party planner performs the ultimate vanishing trick. Unfortunately, she reappears ‘dead as a dummy’. Are ghosts capable of murder? If we want to move these spirits on, we're going to have to dig into their past to solve their murders. Oh My. We find out so much more about Nancie and there are so many more mysteries and murders in this installment to this entertaining series. The editing isn’t 100% but it’s not really distracting so that’s not a big issue. Where I get lost is so many people are related somehow, and some of the reveals are a big surprise, it’s hard to keep track. I needed a diagram. I did get caught up in the plot and mix match of characters and ghosts.
I liked this book more then book 1. I didn't really like Nancy very much, things about her never added up. I guess now we know why. Excellent twist! I can't wait to read book 3, now that we know what's really going on I won't be as confused with all the flash backs.
So Nancie is Nancie but wasn't always Nancie. Even though Nancie is real but is told she isn't real. And Annelle weird name btw is/was real but isn't anymore? Carter forced the DID because of trauma. Ugh. Maybe book three will sort me out.
Being finished with the renovations of the haunted kink hotel, aka the Monster Mansion (book 1), Nancie and her crew start renovating the old firehouse. Unfortunately for them a new fixer-upper also seems to mean new ghosts and new dead bodies. This is the second book in the haunted house rehab series, and just like the first one it follows a central storyline that started in the first book, and has a storyline specific for this book that wraps up nicely at the end. Because of that it didn't have a brutal cliffhanger, but still manages to keep interest for the rest of the series. And what a series it is... I have a hard time describing it, because it feels like an entirely new style. This book has layers upon layers, and it seems crazy to combine it all, and still it works. Some layers are dark and twisted and deal with heavy topics, while others are light and funny and rather feel like inside jokes. I'm pretty sure that you can reread this series multiple times and still keep on discovering something new about it. This book has so many twists and turns that each time I thought I understood what was happening, I read something and thought: "Wait... What!?" Honestly, I understand why this series has lovers and haters, but I am absolutely "team lovers". If you like to read something new and unique, with a lot of mysterie and action, I highly recommend reading this series. The second book was even better than the first one, so I'm really looking forward to discover the twists and turns of the third book.
3 1/2 ⭐️ I found there to be more grammatical and flow errors, but I still really enjoyed the story. I will give myself a small pat on the back for having guessed the main twist prior to reading this book, but I am keeping it small because it seemed pretty obvious to me, so I assume it was to others as well. My biggest issue with this book was the constant addition of other characters to the degree that I was having trouble remembering who was who and what role they played in the overarching storyline. I am still rating it up instead of down because I don’t want my review to keep others from continuing the story for what I consider minor issues. The main story is solid and the character interactions are realistic and believable. There is sound continuity and the mysteries continue. To me, those are the things that matter most. Very enjoyable and I will probably come back and buy the series at a later date, as that is what I do with the KU stories I love the most.
Nancy's recollections never line up. In 'Hocus Poke Us' we get to the core of Nancy/Ana along with multiple whodunit's in this murder mystery. Interpersonal character topics are heavy... dealing with DID, incest, and drugs. I'm excited as the plot to Nancy's family life unfolds and can't wait to see what happens next.
Wow! I thought that the first book was awesome but the author somehow managed to make this one even better. This book is a doozy. It has many twists and turns and all the usual spooky goings on. I am definitely a big fan of this series. It is fantastic. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Book has everything great characters, setting , action and plot twist that you didn't see coming. Can't wait for book 3 to find out what happens to Nancy and her friends.
Omg this book!! Very much like the first with the mystery murders but my god the twists were crazy. Am off to read the 3rd as I need to know what happens now!!

The cult classic Disney film gets roasted in this camp parody staged reading with outrageous improv and musical numbers for the annual Kansas City tradition in its 8th year!
For the first time ever, “Hocus Poke Us!” comes to Kansas City’s historic Folly Theater downtown for a night of mischief and mayhem! Costumes encouraged, masks (Halloween or otherwise) required upon entry.
