The rerolling system is very similar to the system of leveling up. Reroll tokens can be used to remove any Level Up option and replace it with another. However unlike Level Up, reroll tokens don't reset the item's level. This means that if you roll an upgraded item it won't be at that level and won't be able to enjoy its added bonus.
Players can also use a special mechanic, Eliminate, which will remove any level Up option they have on their equipment or weapons. This is useful if you get a bad gacha result or want to reroll a five-star unit. To do this, you'll have to create an account from scratch or sign in via social media.
Similarly, there is an Occultist in each town which can be visited to alter a weapon's or armor's Aspects, stats, or attributes. This is useful if you want to enhance your epic five-star unit or if your four-star elite character isn't working for you.
Rerolling tokens can be acquired by completing specific quests. They can be purchased from the Occultist at 300 gold or in holozons, which are dropped by certain dungeons. You can roll any weapon, armor, or ring simply by moving the icon on the page of your item with the lock in the desired slot.
Sets
A set is a group of items that are similar in a way. You will use sets on a regular basis, such as a dozen eggs or a group of friends. They are helpful for organizing things and utilizing operations like intersection, union and difference to manage them effectively. Sets can be utilized in many ways, such as organizing music on a play list or classifying students according to their grades.
In Nioh, the game uses sets to provide special effects for players who wear pieces of a specific Armor Set. These bonuses are known as Set Bonuses, and they are superior to Effects. Although it's not clear why the armor sets must be worn together in order to generate these additional effects, they are a nice way to change things up when playing the game. The armor sets that come with Set Bonuses can be found in several places throughout Hyrule and include the Dark Moon and Twilight Temple.
Set Bonuses are associated with each piece of equipment that is part of the Set. You can identify the ones you are looking for by hovering over the item and then looking at the tooltip, near the bottom. The Set Bonuses will be displayed in the form of a red box.
Some of these set bonuses are exclusive to specific pieces of equipment. If you equip the entire Phantom Armor set, you will be rewarded with +8 defense (instead of the standard +3 defense you get with most equipment). Other sets are available only through specific quests or purchasing them through the Auction House.
It is also possible to acquire Set Bonuses for multiple pieces of equipment at the same time. For instance, if you own the entire Kestra's Descent set and the appropriate parts of the Twinblade of Shadow you will get the + version of that set's bonus when you can meet it.
Unlike Effects which change every time you upgrade them Set Bonuses stay the same even as the individual pieces of equipment they are attached to level up. If an item is exemplared to levels that are too low, the set bonus will cease working.
Set bonuses
Set bonuses are special effects which appear on an item set and give a bonus to the player in combat. They give a certain amount of a particular type of stat, for example damage to weapons, defenses, or even resistances. They do not stack however, only one of them will work at any given moment. The amount of an attribute is determined by the amount of pieces in the set. For instance you could have three weapons and four chests, but only one of them will benefit you.
They typically boost the primary stat, however, some increase secondary stats too. Defence bonuses increase three defenses for each position and two types of defenses, so for example, a full five piece set of Hundings Rage will add up to around 400 defenses in your gear. This is a huge increase in your gear, specifically as a melee character.
This is an extremely useful feature, and it seems to be one of the most popular features in the game. At present, only a few sets of gear have set bonuses. They are only available on the Test Realm. However, the number of set bonuses is expected to rise once the update is out. The bonus will be added to the 7 school specific Dragoons equipment, for instance.
Set bonuses do not stack within a set, but they do stack across sets. This is ideal for players that want to use the most optimal combination of sets. However, it does require some planning.
