The 55-year-old said that he 'got a kick' out of filming his 14-year-old daughter coming out of the shower
A ‘depraved’ father set up secret cameras to record his own daughter getting undressed in her bedroom, a court heard.
The 55-year-old, who is from Coventry but cannot be named to protect the identity of his teenage daughter, pleaded guilty to 13 charges of voyeurism and 16 of making indecent images.
Jailing him for 14 months, a judge at the crown court in Leamington also ordered him to register as a sex offender for ten years and made him subject to a sexual offences prevention order for life.
Prosecutor Tim Sapwell said that last year the 14-year-old girl was changing into her pyjamas when she noticed a red light flashing on top of the wardrobe.
She went over to see what it was and found her father’s camera phone which had been set to record mode, the Coventry Telegraph reports .
“She looked at it, and it showed him putting the camera in place on the top of the wardrobe, and then showed her getting undressed.”
Unsure what to do, she went onto the internet where she found the advice to report the matter, which she did by writing a letter which she handed to a teacher at her school.
As she revealed in the letter what she had found, the horrified girl wrote ‘My own dad!!!!’
As a result Coventry Social Services and the police became involved, and when she was spoken to she said she was unaware of anything having happened before that incident.
When her father was arrested he at first denied the matter, but during a search of his home officers seized his phones, a digital camera and a hard drive.
By then the recording the girl found had been deleted from the phone – but had been put onto the hard drive together with 13 other video files.
There were also two further clips on the camera, plus one which had captured the father setting it up.
Among the images were others recorded from the top of the wardrobe of her getting undressed, and there were also some from a different position showing her returning to the bedroom from the shower, as well as some showing her in the bathroom.
Confronted with the video evidence, the depraved father said he got ‘a kick out of it’ and found it exciting, but denied it was out of any sexual interest in his daughter, which was dismissed by Judge Alan Parker as ‘nonsense.’
Mr Sapwell added that in a statement the girl said: “My dad’s actions have caused me a lot of upset personally and within the family. I know my dad’s side of the family do not believe me.
“I feel my privacy has been invaded by my dad. When my friends talk about their relationships with their dads I am unable to do the same.”
Ian Windridge, defending, said: “His acceptance and his admission in the open forum of a courtroom is his first step in dealing with issued which affect him.
“This is not production of indecent images of children for the purpose of distribution; he has created them for his own viewing,” said Mr Windridge.
Jailing the man, Judge Parker told him: “What you did was to record your own 14-year-old daughter in circumstances where a telephone as a camera had been secreted in order to film her in intimate stages and undress.
“There was the most grotesque abuse of trust. In circumstances that all right-thinking people would consider to be utterly beyond belief, you wanted a cache of moving images of your daughter in various stages of undress.
“I am satisfied your conduct passes the custody threshold by a significant margin. Conduct of this kind is so depraved and deeply disturbing, and so wicked that it would not be proper to suspend it."

A Michigan father spied on his teen daughter and her friend for nearly two years — and even set up a hidden camera in his own bathroom to record the girls, authorities said.
Gary Lloyd Miller, of Norton Shores, was arrested after his wife found the secret camera, which was disguised as a phone charger in the couple’s bathroom, MLive.com reports .
Miller, 60, is accused of surreptitiously recording his 18-year-old daughter and one of her friends from October 2016 through June, according to Muskegon County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Maat.
Miller — who surrendered to authorities on May 31 — was arraigned on June 14 on four charges, including two counts each of capturing an image of an unclothed person and surveilling an unclothed person. If convicted of both felonies, he faces up to seven years in prison.
Miller posted $50,000 bond on the day of his arrest and was never formally taken into custody at the Muskegon County Jail as part of an abbreviated booking process that did not include a mugshot, Maat said.
After waiving his preliminary hearing, Miller was ordered to stand trial in Muskegon County Circuit Court, MLive.com reports.

The parents of a 12-year-old girl set up CCTV cameras in her bedroom in a bid to catch their relative abusing her.
The girl's parents alleged their daughter was being abused and decided to set up a sting at their home in Moron in Buenos Aires province, Argentina.
Footage taken from the cameras allegedly showed the man, identified as Leandro Sebastian Martinez, enter the girl's bedroom and touch her.
She then pointed to the newly installed cameras and the 41-year-old looked right at the lens.
According to local media, the family were suspicious their daughter was being sexually assaulted by her relative after seeing a WhatsApp message from her in August 2018 that was sent to a school friend.

But they were unsure whether the message shown to them by the school friend's mother was true or not as it detailed how her relative had touched her bottom and private parts.
The girl was reportedly referring to Sebastian Martinez, who is the husband of one of her father's cousins who is very close to the family.
They had decided to discuss the case with the school psychologists but they did not take legal action against the suspect as Sebastian Martinez's wife was going through a pregnancy at the time and they were not sure if the daughter was serious in the note.
But they decided to install a CCTV camera in their home including in the child's bedroom in a bid to keep an eye on her.

It was these images that were then used to prove that the relative was trying to abuse her when he followed her into the bedroom and she deliberately stood still right in front of the camera when he assaulted her, she then pointed out that he was being filmed.
It was later revealed the girl had even invited the relative into the home on the pretext of showing him some renovation work, aware that he might attempt to try and assault her again.
The girl's father, Pablo, told local media: 'There was a family reunion in my parents' house next to ours.'
He said the girl had insisted on showing Sebastian Martinez some improvements in the house and added she wanted to take the risk because she could not put up with what was going on any longer.
When he allegedly assaulted her, the girl told him: 'Did you notice that my parents installed security cameras?'

At this point the man reportedly grabbed the girl around her neck before going on the run.
Pablo told local media: 'When we saw that the videos proved what our daughter told us was true, we went crazy.'
The girl's mother Patricia said: 'My daughter was a flower girl at his wedding. We look after our children but our worst enemy was there half a meter from us.'
Reports said that local authorities have issued an arrest warrant last month, although the suspect has not been located yet.
Pablo told local media: 'When the police broke into his house supposedly Leandro and his wife had gone on holiday to Mar del Plat, but they left the back door unlocked.
'Who goes on holidays and does that? They had been warned about the arrest, obviously.'
The investigation is still ongoing.
