In addition to having his doctors note translated into Spanish. They want this note translated and notarized by the Cuban consulate. But after the investigation which may take 1 day,they would probably release you. Point is it can be done,But are you prepared to spend the day or overnight at the airport. Wanted to add that the Cuban Consulate in Toronto will charge Canadian dollars to notarize your doctors note and can do this in days. This is confirmed for the current price for notarizing papers. Cubans are good at'resolver' as long as you are willing to pay the fees and put up with the paper work. Ok Here is one,The brother of my former Manager got busted in and sentenced to 1 year in prison. He was put into a large communal cell that had a hole as the toilet. It had no windows and proper ventilation. He was fed substandard food and lost 40 lbs. If not for the vitamins and supplements brought by the Canadian consulate. It would have been worse. He got Hepatitis from unsanitary food conditions that require him to take medication up to today. He was beaten up by his fellow inmates if He did not give them money. His sister basically had to support him with a few hundred bucks a month for the Canadian consulate to buy him vitamins,supplements and money to give to his fellow prisoners. Once He got out of prison after several beatings,sick from Hepatitis and 45 lbs lighter. He was deported. I know this personally since my manager would vent her frustrations with me.
