Basics

Considering oblate spheroid earth, the geodetic distance between two points with specific angular separation, gets longer as closer to the Arctic.

Intel map use spherical earth model, distance calculator is as simple as Haversine formula:

a = sin²(Δφ/2) + cos φ1 ⋅ cos φ2 ⋅ sin²(Δλ/2)
c = 2 ⋅ atan2( √a, √(1−a) )
d = R ⋅ c

Where typical a is the mean value of equatorial radius and polar radius, 6367.44465km.

Simply, we use Haversine formula with a = 6367.000 km, comparing with the last column using WGS-84 ellipsoid (calculated by https://www.fai.org/page/world-distance-calculator).
