Jack Spade, owner of the Duffy Wrestling League, controls everything that goes on inside his wrestling ring. But outside the ropes, he's fighting to balance his family and professional life.
As the DWL wrestlers worry about the fallout from a show, Jack struggles with what direction to take the narrative and the league, especially after an offer from the FWD's Charlie Gully.
Jack enlists the help of wrestling veteran Ricky Rabies, setting Ace up with a full house for his comeback match against Bobby Pin, and then tries to make amends with his brother.
After a house fire forces Jack and his family to move in with Carol and Ace, the two brothers put their differences aside to generate a DWL promo to further grow the league's fan base.
When the South Georgia State Fair shows interest in featuring the DWL, Jack must close the deal with a night of matches. But chaos reigns as Bill, Ace, and Crystal have another idea.
On the day of Big Jim's baby's baptism, Jack runs around town prepping and promoting the upcoming match at the fair – and tries to make time for those in his life who deserve it most.
With the South Georgia State Fair only weeks away, Jack does all he can to keep his professional and personal lives intact, while Staci suspects that Jack played a role in Ace's Heel-turn.
The culmination of all Jack's efforts finally pays off as the DWL is featured on the biggest stage in its history, but when drama enters, there's more on the line than the championship belt.

From the opening bell to closing 1,2,3, I'm glued to the show every time it comes on! The story is THE BEST wrestling show ever done! It truly portrays the entertainment aspects as well as the personal lives of those involved in it. Can't wait for season 2!!!

This is the wrestling show you didn't know you needed to watch. Great acting all around, heartfelt, funny, and believable. Even if your not a wrestling fan you're going to enjoy this show, and if you are already are you'll enjoy the wrestling easter eggs.

I must admit that I was fully prepared to hate this. I have never watched wrestling so I didn't know what to expect. My husband was so excited because he used to watch Wwf as a kid. I am so glad that I gave it a chance. I was surprised to see that although it's fake, these are real athletes. There's so much training and choreography involved. It reminds me of a very butch version of a teleanovella. I fell in love with the characters and the story is strangely heartwarming. It's definitely worth checking out even if you aren't a fan of wrestling in general.

Some reviews have been overly harsh and were written after only an episode or two. In the beginning Heels may seem like a shallow show, but it really starts to hit its stride towards the end of episode three. This show is not about wrestling. Far from it. But, if you only watch one or two episodes, you won't see that. Anyone who has dealt with the grief over losing a loved one, or just wanted to live up to your potential, or to make your parents proud, or made regretful decisions out of jealousy or out of feelings of inadequacy, etc. will see themselves in these characters, and the performances of these actors are brilliantly delivered with subtlety and with a truthful realism that you will feel. You will sit and listen to the music playing over the end credits, recovering from a gut punch that you didn't see coming from a "wrestling" show, and you will think WTF, because a show that seemed to be based on a superficial premise just delivered one of the most honest looks into the real life struggles we all battle everyday. I consume a lot of streaming media, from almost every recognizable platform, and Heels is one of the biggest surprises to come along in quite a while. Stephen Amell is probably the face and name that brought most viewers to the show, but Alexander Ludwig, Kelli Berglund, Mary McCormack, Chris Bauer, and Alison Luff all give multilayered, nuanced, strong authentic performances that really give this show the depth and seriousness that elevates Heels into high drama. The entire cast is great, even the background, supporting actors. Trey Tucker is a new actor that just pops in every scene he is in, and seems like a talented new performer that we will be seeing for a long time. But for me, Alexander Ludwig is the standout so far, taking Ace from a two-dimensional character, who you were sure you knew, to a character that will surprise you because although he will make you want to punch him for his ridiculous actions, in the end you will just want to hug him and tell him that everything will be alright. I know that sounds cheesy, or un-dude like, but for me it's true. But, please watch the entire series and tell me I am wrong. Yes, please just watch this show, and watch it with an open mind, and not the preconceived beliefs and assumptions you have about a "wrestling" show. If you do that, you will not be disappointed, and it will hopefully help us get a second season.
