No spark, no chemistry, very flat with extremely lame passionless love scenes(only one to be exact). I know these are not supposed to be explicit but I expected better.

I don't know why I'm putting myself through this; reading Williams' books is like deja vu - especially the male protagonists! THEY'RE ALL THE SAME!!! Supremely rich, arrogant, forbidding, and attracted to our main protagonist because she's "different" and they're "curious" about the chick, as they talk back/stand up to them. At least they didn't end up together because she turned out to be pregnant due to that one time they had relations without protection =_=

Katy has been dithering about for ages as the personal assistant to nice old Joseph, who has her living with him at his country estate. Joseph sort of has her around to type up his memoirs, but most of the time they just have chats and go for walks, and Katy drives Joseph around so he can spend time with his cronies. It’s not very demanding work, which is right up Katy’s alley. Also, I think Joseph appreciates the eye candy of girl in rumpled librarian chic. If he were thirty years younger, he’d hit that, I’m sure. Then Joseph has to go into hospital, and his godson, Bruno, descends upon them both. Bruno is a high-powered businessman and sexy Italian guy and has no time for dithering women. Katy dresses badly and won’t look him in the eye, and she’s all stutters and handwringing and Bruno has absolutely no patience for it. Given that she’s clearly incompetent, Bruno decides to move in while Joseph is convalescing in hospital. And Katy will have to be his secretary while he’s staying, so she’d better smarten up and learn to type more than two words per minute. Oh, and she’ll have to get a pool built. He recommends that she throw cash at the workers and then yell at them so they know she’s boss. Awesomely, Bruno wouldn’t dream of forcing his own secretary to come down from London, because she has kids. Bruno is a good boss, although Katy is initially terribly nervous and treats her every mistake as if she’s just sunk the Titanic. I thought this book was really sweet. Sure, Bruno’s an arrogant prat and Katy’s got a noodle for a backbone, but he learns to appreciate her sweetness and the knockout boobs she’s hiding under some really atrocious clothes. She also gets a confidence boost from building a pool and doing it her nice way, so good for her. And she learns to appreciate Bruno’s manly physique, and probably how masterful he is. At one stage, Bruno brings his girlfriend down to meet Joseph, because he’s thinking of asking her to marry him. But really, he’s doing a side-by-side comparison with Katy, and it’s always satisfying when the sweet, badly dressed girl wins. This book is nothing fancy, but it some mostly fun.

A sweet romance. I like how he tries to win her over. This is an older book of 2004 by Cathy Williams. As with other HP writers such as Penny Jordan, I like her older books far more than the newer ones and I think that that’s Harlequin’s fault. Because it can’t be a coincidence anymore. Anyway, what’s up with the cover? It’s confusing that the woman on the cover has sleek, blonde hair and the book says that the woman has curly brown hair.

I didn't feel like the H really loved the h. He was ready to marry the bitch ow but only wanted an affair with the h and criticized her choice waiting for the right man and being virtuous when she refused. Note that he was glad she was a virgin before he defiled her. I wonder how their relationship would have ended if not the ow's ´´revenge´´. It doesn't feel like they would have ended together if not the ow.

I read the book until I couldn't take it anymore and then I had to stop. I only read to 18% but in none of that time was there any sexy chemistry or any interesting mood or vibe between the two characters. He was just trying to be annoying to her, and she just figured that was what men like him do. It didn't make for a romance story about falling in love that was fun or enjoyable. It was painful and annoying.

It was cute. But we needed more point of view from the hero, his was sprinkled in there. The ending was too random. There was a large problem that was tossed in near the end that should have been half the book. But cute and quick.

Cathy Williams was born in the island of Trinidad, the West Indies. She is a great believer in the power of perseverance as she had never written anything before (apart from school essays a lifetime ago!) and from the starting point of zero has now fulfilled her ambition to pursue this most enjoyable of careers. She would encourage any would-be writer to have faith and go for it! She has been writing Mills & Boon romances since 1990. Her hopes are to continue writing romantic fiction and providing those eternal tales of love and romance for which, she feels, we all strive. She derives inspiration from the hot, lazy tropical island of Trinidad, from the peaceful countryside of middle England and of course from her many friends who are a rich source of plots and are particularly garrulous when it comes to describing Mills & Boon heroes. It would seem, from their complaints that tall, dark and charismatic men are way too few and far between! She loves the beautiful Warwickshire countryside, where she lives with her husband and three children, Charlotte, Olivia and Emma and when not writing is hard pressed to find a moment's free time in between the millions of household chores, not to mention being a one woman taxi service for her daughters never-ending social lives.

The extraordinary reading habits of Defense Secretary James Mattis
Published Sat, Sep 15 2018 9:00 AM EDT Updated Sat, Sep 15 2018 9:41 AM EDT
Defense Secretary James Mattis, hailed for his battlefield prowess and kinship with rank-and-file soldiers, has said that the best way to hone war-fighting skills is to leverage lessons learned from history. Mattis boasts a personal library of 7,000 books and despite increased responsibilities and a demanding schedule, his reading habits haven't slowed. "You stay teachable most by reading books, by reading what other people went through," Mattis has said.

U.S. Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis, Commander, U.S. Central Command, talks to Marines on Dec. 25, 2011, in Kabul, Afghanistan.
ABOARD A U.S. MILITARY AIRCRAFT — Before taking the highest office in the Pentagon, Defense Secretary James Mattis was already a prolific reader, boasting a library of more than 7,000 books and frequently revisiting a handful of titles for reference.
Despite his increased responsibilities and demanding schedule, Mattis' extraordinary reading habits haven't slowed.
He's currently reading "Earning the Rockies: How Geography Shapes America's Role in the World" by Robert D. Kaplan and "Partners in Command: George Marshall and Dwight Eisenhower in War and Peace" by Mark Perry, chief Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White told CNBC as the secretary wrapped up a five-day trip around the world.
Mattis, a revered Marine with a military career spanning four decades, credits his leadership success to his voracious reading habits.
"Thanks to my reading, I have never been caught flat-footed by any situation, never at a loss for how any problem has been addressed before. It doesn't give me all the answers, but it lights what is often a dark path ahead," Mattis wrote in a 2003 email to military historian Jill Russell.
Hailed for his battlefield prowess and kinship with rank-and-file servicemembers, Mattis explained that the best way to hone war-fighting skills is to leverage lessons learned from history.
"A real understanding of history means that we face NOTHING new under the sun," Mattis wrote. "We have been fighting on this planet for 5000 years and we should take advantage of their experience. Winging it and filling body bags as we sort out what works reminds us of the moral dictates and the cost of in competence in our profession."
Before Mattis became President Donald Trump 's Defense secretary, the four-star Marine Corps general led the U.S. Central Command, the combat command responsible for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Throughout his military career, Mattis was affectionately referred to as "Mad Dog" and "warrior monk." He was known for his strategy, matter-of-factness and disdain for PowerPoint , which is recognized as the U.S. military's signature teaching tool.
Instead, Mattis chooses to arm himself with books.
In October 2016, a Marine asked Mattis how he continues to develop as a leader. Mattis once again pointed to reading.
"You stay teachable most by reading books, by reading what other people went through," Mattis said. "I can't tell you the number of times I looked down at what was going on on the ground or I was engaged in a fight somewhere and I knew within a couple of minutes how I was going to screw up the enemy. And I knew it because I'd done so much reading."
He added: "I knew what I was going to do because I'd seen other similar situations in the reading. I knew how they'd been dealt with successfully or unsuccessfully."
In an interview with author R. Manning Ancell for the 2017 book "The Leader's Bookshelf," Mattis shared some of his favor
