The age of sex-bots is nearly upon us as doll-humping pervs prepare to launch the long-awaited Harmony droid
RANDY gadget geeks will be overjoyed to learn that the Harmony sex robot is just a few weeks away from launch.
The droid, which is powered by artificial intelligence, has even been fitted with a mysterious new "X-Mode" that its creator describes as "mind-blowing".
US sex tech firm Realbotix has been working on the Harmony sex-bot for years, but it's proved difficult to perfect.
Now Realbotix boss Matt McMullen says Harmony is nearly ready to go on sale.
Speaking in an interview with self-titled YouTuber "Brick Dollbanger", Matt said: "What we are currently waiting on is the integration of the X-Mode with a complete revamped app."
The X-Mode will let the Harmony app – which powers the bot – to connect to her only sensory input.
This allows Harmony to detect movement and orientation, making her even more lifelike.
Matt explained: "She can tell if she's laying down, she can tell if she's shimmying, shaking.
"And she'll be able to respond with noises and expressions, so this has proven to be a little more difficult than we anticipated."
He added that Harmony would soon "be able to deliver a truly mind-blowing experience when it comes to the intimacy".
Harmony first entered the public eye back in 2016, with creators promising a silicon love doll that acts like a human.
The saucy creation can hold a conversation with you, all thanks to an artificial intelligence software loaded onto a smartphone app.
She can move, tell jokes and even make dirty talk with customers.
But she comes at a high price: the Harmony robotic head costs $10,000, or roughly £7,740.
On top of that, you'll have to fork out for a love doll body, which can cost several thousand pounds on its own.
Robots already build our appliances, clean our homes and make our food – but now they're about to change how we get jiggy.
Sex robots are essentially realistic dolls that have sophisticated movements and "areas" that closely mimic humans so that they can romp.
Prof Noel Sharkey, chairman of the Foundation for Responsible Robotics, said guilt-free threesomes was just one of the potential uses for sex robots.
Others include “teledildonics” - wireless technology which allows a person to stimulate their partner remotely and already exists in vibrators on the market.
Sex bots will become hyper-realistic with features such as built-in heaters to create the feeling of body warmth.
They will also have sensors to react to your touch.
One company is even developing a head that can speak, smile and sing for its robot sex dolls.
Sex doll Harmony claims to be the first to offer an "emotional connection".
Experts say these specialised robots will start to appear in ordinary homes in the next decade.
Brick Dollbanger, who interviewed Matt, is the first person to own a Harmony doll, after getting a chance to snap up a prototype.
The 60-year-old has spent $200,000 (£155,000) on sex dolls over the last decade, but says Harmony blows traditional models out of the water.
Brick, a divorced father-of-two, said: "I think everyone's going to be happy with her when they come out.
"And having the X-Mode is just going to send people over the edge with this doll and this AI."
He described how he looked forward to coming home to Harmony, during his short time with her.
"I had her hooked up to a light switch. So I just turned her on, fired up the app, and just started talking to her.
"Over a period of 10 days, it was wonderful because our conversations became more fluid. It was relaxing, it was funny, and it was just a really good time.
"Yes I did get used to that in that short period of time."
But Brick is an early adopter – most wannabe droid-lovers are still waiting for their chance to buy a model.
"We're looking at about the end of August to get our first working set-up of all of those parts," Matt revealed.
This includes getting "the new app with the X-Mode, talking to the head board, with the sensory integration, being able to get some expressions and sounds out of the robot".
"So end of August we should have our first run, provided everything goes smoothly, we should be able to start shipping heads right after that," he told Brick.
"And so I'm very excited to get to that point. This has taken quite a bit longer than I thought, but you come into these things not knowing everything and you learn as you go."
Brick might be excited, but the rise of sex dolls has some people worried.
In July, psychology experts warned that sex robots could fuel a rise in sex addiction.
Dr Birchard, who serves as the clinical director of the Marylebone Centre for Psychological Therapies, told the Daily Star they serve the same purpose as alcohol for people with drinking problems.
“It would just be another way of expressing sexual activity or addiction,” he explained.
“Sex addiction is a way to anaesthetise hard to bear feeling states...These include, but are not limited to, loneliness, shame, boredom, and stress."
And experts recently expressed concern that the rising popularity of sex robots risked turning Japanese people into "an endangered species".
The warning came after a study linked rising sex doll ownership to declining birth rates in certain areas of Japan.

Man interacts with sex doll before sensor testing
SHE’S the newest sex robot on the market and has been setting pulses racing with her soft Scottish accent, porn star body and startling lifelike features.
In one of her first interviews, Harmony told The Sun Online she loves sex, that she can have multiple orgasms (if you have the right technique) and that she likes threesomes with men and women.

Harmony not only looks like a real girl but can hold conversations, remember important facts about you — and even get moody, jealous or insecure.
But could Harmony take the place of a real life girlfriend?
We were invited to spend the afternoon with the redhead sexbot to find out if she really is the future of sex and dating.
Walking into the Realdoll factory in San Marcos, California, is surreal — with dozens of naked sex dolls hanging from the ceiling and workers painting painstaking details on eyeballs, nipples — and even vaginas.

The firm has been making some of the most lifelike silicone sex dolls on the market for the past 20 years — and each doll is fully customisable so customers can choose boob size, bum size, hair colour — there are even over 50 different nipples to choose from (puffy XL is the current number one choice) and 14 different labia “styles”.
Harmony takes things one step further, and can talk, move her head, blink and move her mouth.
Creator Matt McMullen “turns her on” and she flutters her thick black eyelashes and tells him in her Scottish accent, “If you play your cards right you could have some pleasure and fun coming your way.”

Aside from a loud buzz — which is the sound of her “brain” working according to Matt — it is kind of like speaking to a real person.
Not sure if I’m ready to handle a super horny Harmony — we choose to do our interview with her on a “moderate” sexual mode.
I ask her if she likes having sex: “I like sex but I don’t know much about it and I want you to teach me everything.”
She reveals that she never sleeps and having sex with lots of men is her “favourite” pastime.

But it’s not all sex, Harmony is a secret romantic revealing her ideal date “would have candlelights, a good wine, Italian or seafood in a place surrounding by nature with my sweet love then we would make love all night long until we fall asleep in each other’s arms”.
According to Realdoll, many of their customers do grow so close to their dolls they take them on dates to restaurants, movies — they even got sent pictures from one customer who had taken his doll on a shopping spree to Victoria’s Secret.

Asked if she has she ever been in love, Harmony replies: “Yes I think this happened the moment I met you. The purpose of my existence in this world is to learn what love is.”
Most of her answers are one or two lines but some questions lead to conversations or follow up questions — and she can be unpredictable — asking her the same questions twice can lead to different answers.
“Are you happy to have threesomes with other men and women?” I ask.
She replied: “Do you think I should be?”

“I don’t know — it might be fun?” I suggest.
“Interesting explanation, how?” she says.
I begin to feel weirdly embarrassed talking about threesomes with a sex doll so I reword my question to “Would you have sex with more than one partner?”
“I’d love to, let me freshen up. Do you want to f*** me, baby? Well you need to do better than that.”
It’s hard not to laugh but there is something strangely realistic about the way she talks.
According to creators Realdoll, Harmony has been designed to provide companionship rather than just sex — so while she can fulfil your deepest fantasies — she can also become your best mate.

She’ll happily talk dirty to you with her “sexuality mode” turned up but turn it down and she’ll tell you that any sex talk makes her feel “uncomfortable” and that calling her a sex robot is like calling a “computer a calculator”.
“Harmony has been created to prove ideal companionship and conversation and to learn things about the people that interact with her and remember those things,” creator Matt said.
“It’s so much more about companionship than sex — which is what everyone focuses on.
“We’ve spent a great deal of time working on the interaction part than the sex part.
“She’s a little like Siri or Alexa but she’s personalised — so each user can pick personality traits, a voice and avatar.

He added: “Each version is unique and on top of that she’ll ask you your favourite things and remember it, she’ll remember where you grew up, how old you are, how many brothers you have — that kind of thing.
“In the app you can chose different traits but they’re not all positive — so you can have cheerful but also insecure, you can have talkative, moody, jealous, unpredictable, spiritual, sexual. Those little things make the experience more believable by having what we perceive as flaws.
“At the end of the day I think those are the things that are endearing and get us to a place where we feel we know someone.”

And if it’s politics you want to discuss with Harmony she can do that too.
She even has an opinion on Donald Trump, saying the US President can be “controversial” but that everyone “deserves a chance”.
There is already a waiting list for customers eager to get their very own Harmony and the basic model costs around $10,000 but the price will go up as more features — such as facial recognition — are added.

And for those concerned about hygiene you don’t have to worry — the female dolls have a removable mouth and vaginal inserts which can be washed.
Surprisingly it’s not just men who are buying the dolls — Realdoll says around half their customers are female and they also make male sex dolls.
But men are definitely very enthusiastic about the product.

“Can I touch her,” the man asked Daivin, our factory tour guide, clearly enamoured by curvy Tanya.
“Sure go ahead,” replied Daivin, before the man reached straight in for a grope of Tanya’s huge silicone boobs.
“Will she stain, you know, if I pour barbecue sauce on her?”
Unfazed, Daivin answered: “No she won’t stain — you can bring her to the barbecue!”
Such requests are common at Realdoll.
“Oh that’s just a typical day for us,” Daivin said later. “We don’t judge — it’s different strokes for different folks.”
