Youssef Kassab was born in Hardine, in North Lebanon, in the year 1808, into a devout Maronite Christian family. As a child he attended the school of the monastery of the Maronite Lebanese Order of Saint Anthony in Houb (1816-1822). As St. Sharbel's teacher, he granted many miracles after his death in 1858.
