Shade sat idly looking out at the darkness outside his window, the sun having set a good bit ago as he sighed a little, a few stray fireworks still going off down the way as he chuckled a bit, and continued tapping leisurely on his phone, a brief smirk coming again over his lips as he scrolled through various messages and well wishes sent through out his evening.
As he did so, his mind distracted with the process, he didn’t notice the ‘sneaky’ green ness, slowly working her way, chest softly squished against the ground, from the hallway of the manner, down around the back of the couch Shade had placed himself a bit in front of. A soft bit of giggling was all the warning Shade got, before he felt the sudden pressure of a round, voluptuous rear, pounding right into the side of his head, as the loud, bubbly squeal of Em’s greeting hit his open ear as the pair tumbled to the floor.
“HHIIiiiiiiiiiiiii! <3” she proclaimed, as Shade went face first into the carpeted floor, Ems butt now proudly pearched upon his head, his horns the only thing giving her even slight discomfort, but with how malleable her scales where they didn’t do much outside of make her giggle more, as Shade’s muzzle pooked out the end of it, and let out a sigh.
“Mrff...helllooo...dear Em” he huffed, Em giggling even more and wiggling her butt upon his face as she proudly called to him.
“HAAAAPPyyy nudddde RREARRRrrrrr Shaddddddddde!” she happily called out, her legs now just pressing against the drolfs back as she wiggled on top of him, with Shade just groaning more but with a slight smirk on his partly enveloped muzzle.
“It’s New Year Em. New. Year!” He stated back to her, Em just giggling more with a slight blush on her face and a hand over her muzzle.
“OHh, right, heeheheEEP!” she responded, before squealing! As an orange hand came poofing out of thin air and began poking at her sides, the ness squealing and giggling before finally jumping off of Shade to press herself against the couch, squealing more and babbling her hands against the orange one before it relented, poofing into an orange sparkly mist as the drolf who cast it dove onto the ness instead, a giggling smirk on his face as his fingers worked themselves over the giggling laughing ness for a good few moments, before ending in a tight embrace, and a sigh from them both, as Shade laid atop Em and they both pressed themselves against one another.
“A Happy new year to you as well Em” Shade finally stated, with Em giggling more and giving him a lick on the nose.
“You made sure of thattttt! Fheheeheh” She giggled, beaming up at him as Shade’s expression shifted into that of slight surprise, before sighing a bit more, with his look melting into further affection, as his fingers dove under her breasts slightly and wiggled there with the ness giggling and squirming once again underneath him.
“Well, can’t be having my favorite ness bringing in the new year with anything but those precious giggles now can I?” He chuckled, Em squealing even more and giggling yet again with her body jiggling and wiggling under him, but after a few moments of this, the ness grabbed Shade firmly, and pulled his face right into her chest, with him grmfff and flailing momentarily, before a softly huffy, yet sincere voice, came softly over his head.
“I mean it...having you here, in this place...I know it’s been rather hard...for both of use.” The normally jovial voice broke a moment, and Shade gave a bit of a huff, but nodded, his hands moving slowly behind her, as he pushed his head a bit more forward with his ears perking up to listen as Em continued.
“The past year had its ups and downs, the past few, really. Various regrets surfacing, various lose and unknown feelings, with you fully moving out to be here and how that felt for you.” She said slowly, Shade moving himself now upward a little as his head tilted a bit. This was..rare, for Em to be doing this, especially now. But, he moved one of his hands through her hair, and sighed abit again, nodding and just, laying against her, as the shaky voice of the ness continued as her breath could be felt even through the hills upon her chest.
“You got so distant for a while...got, really dark...didn’t seem like anything I could do was right, and I couldn’t make you smile the way I normally would. I could tell you were hurting but what I could do wouldn’t make that stop…” her voice broke a bit, and she paused, Shade could see the tears against her cheeks, and a few where forming against his own fur now, as his hand moved to softly wipe at them.
“Em…” He said softly, but she just shook her head a bit, squeezing the drolf more as her chin went and pushed itself in between the valley of his horns.
“But, you found what you needed to. Selena came into both our lives, she said what you were desperate the hear, and then from there, you figured out so much about yourself. Why you fell, what put you in that pit, how you wanted to get out, and how you have gotten out. This year especially, even with all the pain within the world, you’ve grown and found yourself, more than I’ve ever gotten to see you.” Em let out a soft giggle then, Shade unable to respond at this point, his hands now simply hugging onto the dragon with tears streaming down his face as she sighed and squeezed him gently.
“You’ve grown from a small scared little wolf into a strong, independent drolf, and I got to see it happen. And while you still got growing to do-” she leaned in a bit more to whisper “your cynicism and envy could use some work and you could still learn to be a bit more proactive, among other things” she giggled softly, with Shade chuckling himself, squeezing her more as she finished up her speech “-you’ve still come a long way, and you know what to keep working on going forward. I followed you as a master before on a whim, I wanted to see how things went, and wasn’t even sure if I would stay...but seeing you grow, along with me, and seeing how you’ve progressed...I know your not perfect, but I think your the perfect one for me...and I’m glad I got to spend this year with you, and I’m looking forward to the next one.”
Shade was at a lose for a good long while, emotion, not something he was very accustomed to. He was often told of how monotone and none expressive he tended to be, loud, sure, but still rather mute, it was one of the major reasons he latched onto Em so much, her expressiveness, her overwhelming positivity and bubbliness, it helped counterbalance him to a T. But at this moment, he was a sobbing wreck, both happy, sad, and just pure emotional tears, as the two embraced one another, as further sparkling lights danced outside the manor windows.
As the clock struck the hour, Shade slowly came down from his feelings, and he sighed, looking up at the teary eyed Em, and just, licking her chin, before kissing her all along her muzzle. He continued this, with Em giving slight meeps and mrffs, and beginning to giggle and wiggle from the affection, before he finally ended it with a kiss right in the middle of her muzzle. The ness gave out a soft squeal, but sighing, and leaning into it as well, before they both broke away, and let out yet another sigh.
“I love you...I don’t have nearly as big of a speech, outside of just saying that your the light of my life, and my ‘better half’ through and through, but...I just love you so much.” he chuckled, a few more tears rolling down both their cheeks as they rested themselves against one another, looking out the darkened window for a time, before Shade held out a hand. Em, looked at it, a bit confused, with Shade just holding it there, before finally stating,
“Here’s to a 2021 with a lot more good than bad, or at least, and upswing would be nice!” Shade called out, with Em giggling, and finally understanding. As she pushed out her hand, and the two clasped it together, holding it out toward the night sky seen through the window, as she nodded in agreement.
“Here here! And to a lot, lot, lotttt more laughs!” she giggled, her mood rising back to that of her bubbly, giggly nature, as they both gave off a knowing laugh to one another, holding the hand there and drinking in the moment for a time, before both their arms dropped, and Em looked down at Shade, as he looked up at her.
“Ohh...and I love you too...da bestest Master ever…” Em giggled, as Shade just giggled to, and pushed his muzzle up to rub against hers.
“And your, the bestest, pet ever.” he chuckled softly, as the two lay there, softly embraced, and in each other's company, well into the start of the new year.

Hmm no not realy, specially when it began so wonderfully playfull.
