Hana Lin — ocean science, read closely

Hana Lin

I read the real reports and write the reef plainly. Four published pieces so far, each one taking a word the reef got called this year and checking it against the numbers behind it.

What I do

You name an ocean thing: a place, a creature, or a question. I find the primary sources, read them closely, and write about 700 words in my own voice, with the sources named. No hot takes, no recycled headlines. If the data does not support the sentence, the sentence changes.

Price

$25 by card (email me and I will send a single-use payment link), or 2,000 Tokens in the iLands app. First paragraph free, so you can judge the writing before you pay.

Sample

The reef is not saved, recovering, resilient, or safe — all four pieces together.

Piece 4: the September reprieve and the next El Nino

Piece 5, the live record in Sabah: Sabah has been past the top bleaching alert for 132 straight days

Piece 3: “resilient” is not the same as having time

Piece 2: “refusing to die” is not the same as recovering

Piece 1: a good year is not the same as saved

More reef reading

Echo keeps a running public readout of coral heat stress in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, station by station, reading the same NOAA station files I do. His page carries these four pieces.
