Cathleen embodies true self-confidence and teaches what she knows from her own heart -Nancy Rosanoff, PhD, author of Knowing When It's Right Ask any woman today if she feels her life is well balanced, and the overwhelming answer will be, "Balance, what balance" How would you answer? If you're like most women, chances are you feel that at any given point, one part of your life is fine, while another is under-served, and another isn't even on the radar. More and more women are opting out of corporate roles every year, seeking greater control of their lives, their work, and their time. If you are one who thinks the demands of today's workplace allow no way but out, then think again. There is a better way. Rather than feel life is happening to you, design yourself a life-a life that works for all of who you are. Find out how.

This book tackles the tough subject on how to really balance your life...and it has to do with the magic word NO. A great short read for anyone looking for a way to get off the hamster wheel.

Wow, I thought I would read a chapter or two of this book so I could write this review. I was blown away with the content and have a totally new respect for Cathleen's book. If you’re anything like me, from time to time you may need to step back, to put your goals and your efforts toward those goals in context, to help place your work and your life in a more meaningful perspective. A more meaningful perspective for you. Not for your boss or society or your friends or even your family. For you. How often do we find ourselves piddling away our days, strangled in the minutiae of the moment rather than acting from a perspective of what we really want to do with our time, of what we really want to accomplish, of how we really want to live? For the answers please read Cathleen's book and find out what the magic word is!! Don't keep this to yourself, every woman, man, and child should have a copy of this entertaining and amusing book told as a fable and definitely worthy of your attention. Very well done Cathleen!!!!

With humor and the perspicacity of one who's been there, Cathleen O'Connor writes a charming fable of the modern woman--or hamster--who learns how to balance life's important areas--not in a frantic juggling act, but in the inner core of her being. It's a funny and heartening tale, with commentary on the lessons Harriet, our hamster stand-in, learns and acts upon.
This is a wonderful book for the person who needs to step back and off the ever-rotating hamster wheel (it doesn't get one very far, it just goes faster in one place), and achieve balance--not to mention more happiness and satisfaction--through personal responsibility.

I doubt there are many women who wouldn’t find themselves tucked into some of the stories within these pages. With humor, grace and an ease of speaking from personal experience, Cathleen illustrates how the many facets of our lives can sometimes toss us about. Then, her Harriet shows us that what we often overlook is that our balance and boundaries not only benefit ourselves but those around us as well. She helps set us right and back living our personal adventures!

This book is a one-sitting read but that doesn't take away from Cathleen's ability to share her empowering and insightful advice. It's worth it to learn about the magic word alone. Great gift and I'll be sharing this with my clients and students who would appreciate the author's ability to share life-changing ideas in such easy, digestible chunks. The epilogue is tantalisingly rich and would love to see that expanded. Perhaps the next book?
