Mika Hakkinen was on the edge of his seat during the last few laps of the Russian Grand Prix. According to the Fpal it was a 'fantastic' race, but he also feels sorry for Lando Norris.

Lando Norris was allowed to start the Russian Grand Prix from pole position but lost the lead after the first corner to Carlos Sainz. The Briton was stuck behind the Ferrari for several laps but managed to overtake Sainz on lap 13. From then on, Norris dominated the race and was on his way to his first Formula 1 win, but then the rain came. The McLaren driver decided to ignore a team order and stay out on dry weather tires. That turned out to be the wrong choice and ensured that Norris did not finish higher than seventh.

In a column for Unibet, Mika Hakkinen looks back on the Russian Grand Prix. He feels sorry for Lando Norris. According to Hakinnen, Norris can't be blamed for staying out and wanting to keep the lead. "The driver is the one who knows how much grip the car has, whatever the team thinks. You feel it in your hands on the steering wheel. You feel it in your feet on the pedals and your seat," writes Hakkinen.

The Finn thinks Norris's time will come. "Lando's first win is not far off. He can be proud of what he showed on Sunday. "He drove brilliantly all weekend. He took pole position in difficult conditions and dominated the race until the rain came."
