Britons woke up to snow and fierce winds this morning as the warm Easter weather was replaced with Arctic winds bringing freezing temperatures. The bitterly cold weather comes just 24 hours after Britons packed beaches and parks all over the country to bask in warm temperatures of 18C (64.4F) and enjoy the easing of lockdown. Monday morning temperatures were far lower as cold northern winds moved over the country with the mercury at -1C up north and barely above freezing in the south. Tooting and Clapham in London were the most southerly places in the UK to see snow - despite forecasters saying the south would avoid frost. The freezing weather comes as Britons prepare for more lockdown easing on April 12, with the return of beer gardens and al fresco dining. The forecast is still promising for the big reopening with temperatures of up to 14C expected - but the cold Arctic snap may lead to anxiety in the run-up to next Monday.
The PM's new system will see destinations rated as red, amber and green using criteria including the percentage of the population that has been vaccinated, the rate of infection, any emerging variants and the country's access to reliable data and genomic sequencing. The criteria could result in European countries like France and Italy being ruled out of bounds for British holidaymakers in the coming months as parts of the EU suffer spikes in coronavirus cases and the bloc's vaccination drive continues to stall. Under the Government's scheme, sunseekers returning from countries in the green category will not have to isolate, although they will need to have tests before and after they fly.
Abdul Rauf was jailed in six years for his role in the Rochdale child sex trafficking ring in 2012 and in 2015 he was told by the Home Office he was being stripped of his UK citizenship.
The Government has set a target of installing 600,000 heat pumps each year by 2028, replacing gas boiler but the pumps require larger radiators or underfloor heating to reach same heat levels.
Of the around 20,000 people arriving in the country every day, around 40 percent - or 8,000 - are tourists, figures compiled by British Border Force staff revealed.
Boris Johnson has announced a huge expansion of screening with free rapid testing kits made available to everyone in England from this Friday. Mr Johnson said the multi-billion pound move can help the return to normality by picking up asymptomatic cases and identifying local outbreaks faster. But concerns were immediately raised as when used on that scale the tests could wrongly label tens of thousands of people a week as having Covid - forcing them to isolate and get more reliable PCR checks to show they are clear. At an Easter Monday press conference this evening, Mr Johnson will confirm the next stage of the lockdown roadmap is on schedule - with shops, gyms and hairdressers allowed to reopen from next week. Pubs, restaurants and cafes will also be allowed a limited reopening for outdoor customers. The premier is also set to give a hint on the way forward for foreign holidays, with a 'traffic light' system expected to be introduced for destinations when the blanket ban on travel is dropped - potentially from May 17. Mr Johnson will give a 'high level' indication of the government's plan for coronavirus passports. But the government faces prospect of losing a vote on the controversial concept as Tory rebels join forces with Labour to raise civil liberties objections.

Sarah Murray, 49, (left and right) froze 11 of her eggs back in 2015 when she was 43 years old that she is now 'unlikely' to use because the main issue for her is becoming a mother as she approaches 50. Sarah, from East London, spent nearly £10,000 on the process but her mindset has changed as she had hoped to use the eggs in the few years after freezing them. Likewise, Carla Poole, 49, spent £10,000 freezing her eggs when she was 37. UK law currently says human eggs can be frozen for 'social' reasons for a maximum of ten years only. Rather than destroying the eggs, Carla moved them to a clinic in Spain where time limits don't apply. Pictured inset: Stock image.

Lizzy Evans, 27, (left) from Bagillt, Wales, was pregnant with her fourth when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She began her grueling treatment soon after giving birth - which was induced eight weeks early - and was given the all clear. But less than a year later, Mrs Evans began experiencing severe pain in her back, shoulder, ribs and neck. Her GP said this was due to her treatment bringing on early menopause and she was 'sent home with pain relief'. But when the pain got worse, further tests revealed the cancer had returned. It had spread to her lungs, brain and spine and was terminal. She passed away on March 31 leaving behind her children aged nine, eight, two and one. After her terminal diagnosis, she and her boyfriend Joshua Evans, 29, (right together) got married her mother's house.

What are you wearing? A trivial enough question, pre-Covid days, designed to avoid sartorial clashes or clangers. But now, with the end of lockdown finally in sight and calendars being filled with dates for get-togethers outside from April 12, women across the country are excitedly planning their 're-entry outfits'. Namely, what to wear on that first special occasion when they are reunited with friends and family. Here, five writers share their 're-entry outfits' and reveal the special social occasion that will truly signify that life in the UK has returned to normal... (Pictured, Daily Mail writers Clare Boyd, Lorraine Candy, Liz Jones, Kitty Dimbleby and Rosie Millard.)

Primrose Hill (pictured today and yesterday, top left) was one of the green spaces to fall victim to the scourge despite repeated calls for people to take home their mess. It came as Britons packed beaches and parks all over the country to bask in warm temperatures of 18C (64.4F) and enjoy the easing of lockdown. It is unlikely similar scenes will be repeated today, with Arctic winds battering Britain overnight and thousands waking up to heavy snow, fierce winds and temperatures below freezing.

Charles Alastair Hyde Villiers (right) was devoted to his late grandmother who, he says, was as wise as she was wealthy. 'She had street sense as well as being from an aristocratic family,' he says. Lady Mairi Bury, daughter of the 7th Marquess of Londonderry, was particularly careful when it came to money. When she died, leaving her millions to a 'small number of heirs' (Charles included), she decided to put her estate in trust, offering 'some protection'. Protection from what? 'Well, she was acutely aware of the risk of family members getting married,' says Charles, arching an eyebrow. 'You see it over and over again. You have these aristocratic families where the assets - property, farmland, portraits - go back generations. But it only takes one person in one generation to take half of it. These people take a chainsaw to old families, or try to. My advice to any young man of means, when it comes to marriage, is: be careful.' No prizes for guessing that Charles, 58, who is also a distant relative of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall is in the throes of one of the messiest divorces that the current aristocratic set has ever witnessed, nine years since his wife Emma, 62 (left with daughter Clarissa), left the Scottish manor (inset).

Celebrities did not let the absence of an official red carpet stop them from dressing to impress for last night's Screen Actors Guild Awards. (L-R) Nicole Kidman, Kaley Cuoco, Kerry Washington and Gillian Anderson were among the many stars getting glam at home ahead of the virtual Hollywood event, that was pre-recorded this year for the first time ever. Facing the unique challenges of a pandemic-era awards show, SAG-AFTRA's awards committee decided against a Zoom-heavy affair in lieu of pre-produced pieces and top-secret acceptance speeches shot ahead of time.
Other British winners included Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne and Mark Rylance who won as part of the ensemble cast of The Trial of The Chicago 7.
Ruffalo accepted the award virtually from home, beating out fellow nominees Bill Camp, Daveed Diggs, Hugh Grant, and Ethan Hawke.

Not everyone hit the fashion mark, however, with (L-R) Bridgerton's Kathryn Drysdale, Elle Fanning, Schitt's Creek's Emily Hampshire and The Crown's Emma Corrin opting for some unusual looks. The quirky ensembles coincided with this year's revamped awards ceremony. Facing the unique challenges of a pandemic-era awards show, SAG-AFTRA's awards committee decided against a Zoom-heavy affair in lieu of pre-produced pieces and top-secret acceptance speeches shot ahead of time.

Speaking about her past abuse, the actress tells Vogue: 'There's a moment where the ghost of me changed, you know. And it was then, [I] was 16.'

The copy was built by local enthusiasts who have vowed to rebuild the smashed spaceship which had been installed on a permafrost hill in a park. There were no casualties when the 13ft high gunship - used by bounty hunter Din Djarin to roam the galaxy - was destroyed in a temperature of minus 15C.
