Yasmin Gasimova made her confession on a blog post where she stated she had no plans to start shaving her body
A female university student has revealed a secret that's set to divide opinion - she doesn't shave her body hair.
Yasmin Gasimova bared all her hair in a blog post, and even showed off her downy black belly hair in a series of pictures.
The 19-year-old from Reading says the only hair grooming she undertakes is on her face - and she removes her natural beard only when she can be bothered.
The first year student at Liverpool University is studying computer science and philosophy. She says she's spent the last eight years not caring about her body hair - and only shaving her legs when she wants a one night stand.
Are you hairy and proud, or just proud of your body in general? Email YourMirror@mirror.co.uk or fill in the form at the bottom.
Writing for student newspaper The Tab, Yasmin said: "Being hairy isn't scary. In a society where women are expected to shave, I'm not ashamed to admit I don't.
"I might trim my pubes if I'm going on holiday, but catch me on a normal day when my armpits are bushy and my legs furry, and you might be surprised."
Brunette Yasmin recalls being bullied at school when moustache hairs started to sprout on her upper lip when she was just 10-years-old.
"I was trying to shave my noticeably hairy stomach," she continued. "I was never not self-conscious of my hair, but now I embrace it.
"I stopped caring when I was 11, as having naturally thick, fast-growing hair meant I'd need to waste an hour just to get prickly dots on my legs, which would grow back in a week.
"It's a huge inconvenience for me, as it never made me feel comfortable, gave me loads of ingrown hairs, and my hairless legs wouldn't match the rest of my hairy body."
She reckons that after stopping shaving, she feels much more liberated - but still regularly tames her bushy eyebrows.
Yasmin is so happy with her hirsute look, she reckons she only shaves when she's going on holiday or trying to find a man.
She added: "If I do shave, which is very, very rare, it's for absolute necessity.
"If I'm going on a beach holiday, having swimming lessons, or if I'm trying to pull a one night stand, I'll shave.
"I still unfortunately prefer the inconvenience of shaving to the inevitable dirty looks and rejection."
Following her outspoken post, Yasmin wants other women to embrace their own hairiness, because men are judged by their 'manliness' on their ability to grow beards.
She added: "Although women have just as much body hair, albeit generally thinner and lighter, as a society we have decided they have to be completely hairless in order to be seen as truly feminine.
"But nothing about a woman's natural body should make her feel like less of a woman."
"There is also nothing dirty or unclean about body hair," she continued.
"Besides, we shouldn't hold women to a higher standard of cleanliness than men.
"This is the reality of a woman's body, and it shouldn't be hidden away."

Hannah's 'embarrassing problem' stops her buying bikinis and getting intimate with men
A WOMAN with thick, black hair on her stomach and chest told Body Fixers she had never dated because of her “embarrassing problem”.
Hannah told the beauticians in the E4 show she worried that potential partners would feel it if they got intimate.
She said: “It’s so embarrassing I can’t really tell my mum.
“When it comes to summer it’s really difficult because I can’t shop for bikinis. I feel like I have to cover up all the time.
“And it affects my love life. I’ve never been on a date.
“I’m so self-conscious about it. If they can’t see it, like if we’re in the dark, I’m afraid they’ll feel it.”
The Body Fixers team looked shocked when Hannah lifted her shirt to show a hairy belly button and a line of fuzz leading up towards her bra.
She said: “It’s on my chest and my face as well.”
She added; “I’ve tried tweezers, I’ve tried waxing but it’s so hard and it’s expensive to get someone else to do it.”
The team called in the medical specialist Dr Esho to tackle Hannah’s unwanted growth.
He revealed: “Hannah’s body hair can be removed permanently with a course of laser treatment but first I need to shave the hair so the power of the laser can get directly to the root.”
The result was a silky smooth and incredibly happy Hannah – who shed a tear when she saw her new hair free tum.
She told them: “That’s crazy. I feel like a normal person now. Thank you so much.”
Body Fixers is on E4 on Tuesday at 9pm.

Golden Globes 2019: Best Beauty on the Red Carpet

No Shave November has nothing on the new, budding women's movement, Janu-Hairy.
This month, women all over world are putting down their razors, waxing strips, tweezers, thread, lasers and everything else we use to pluck, pick and remove hair and going au naturale. For some, it's empowering to go against the grain and our society's fixation with female hairless bodies. It's natural, so if you've got it, flaunt it. For others, seeing visible armpit and leg hair still creates discomfort. When you've spent years desperately attempting to rid your body of hair, being photographed with armpit hair on the red carpet requires getting over your own conditioned disapproval and a negative response from the public.
Julia Roberts ' 1999 armpit reveal at the Cannes premiere of Notting Hill is a classic case. Although the Homecoming actress told Busy Phillipps that her visible body hair "wasn't a statement," twenty years later, she can still vividly remember the moment it happened and the resulting photo that made world news. It spurred that much conversation.
"When I was a younger woman, I thought it was a statement," Busy said. "I thought it was really punk rock and cool."
Two decades later, however, millennial and Gen-Z women are agreeing with Busy. Fueled by the ability to be as authentic as possible, these stars consistently bring their cultural beauty traditions, statement-making fashion and body hair to the red carpet. Unlike Julia's accidental reveal in the '90s, Miley Cyrus , Paris Jackson , Amandla Stenberg and more are making a very clear statement in the era of #MeToo and other pushes for female equality: Body hair is a natural, and thus should be accepted. In fact, it's cool.
In honor of the sentiment and Januhairy, check out what the stars that are getting behind the push for body hair acceptance below!
Cheers to the woman that started it all. Back in 1999, the Homecoming actress took to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet wearing a red sequined
Before it was cool, the '90s sitcom star revealed her body hair on the Golden Globes red carpet with pride. Pulling her dress up and laughing, the actress let it be known that she's not ashamed.
This singer does not care about shaving her legs. Last year, when asked how her partner Simon Konecki feels about the star gave the ultimate clapback : "He has no choice," she retorted. "I'll have no man telling me to shave my f**kin' legs. Shave yours."
The Hate U Give actress, who doubles as an activist, made a major statement at the European premiere of the movie late late year. In a beautiful black gown and flawless beauty, the star posed to reveal the natural hair under her arms.
Everyone was talking about Michael Jackson 's daughter's bold style at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, which included a Dior ensemble and body hair.
The star has demonstrated herself as a champion for the movement by posing on the carpet with visible body hair multiple times and posting the iconic 1999 photo of Julia Roberts on her Instagram. She captioned the photo, "Beautiful in every way."
While the CFDA Fashion Awards is one of the top fashion events of the year, the Girls actress made a serious statement about her style by wearing her armpit hair with pride in 2015.
Her sister agrees, revealing her body hair at the 2017 Golden Globes.
If you're joining the movement, at least you know that Hollywood is on your side!

WAITE IS OVER Barcelona axe Braithwaite hours before deadline with striker joining Espanyol
A WOMAN has revealed that she hasn’t shaved her genitals, armpits or legs in over seven years - and even her mum called her “disgusting”.
Entertainer Katrina Hendrix, 28, from Saint Petersburg, Russia, began shaving her body hair including her under arms and legs when she was just 12 years old.
But after eight years of enduring her hair growing back fast and having to shave every day, in 2011, she decided to ditch the razors and leave it natural.
She says feels ‘free’ after letting it all hang out on her wedding day.
Katrina’s mum was initially against this and even branded her as ‘disgusting’ but after seven years, she has now accepted her daughter the way she is.
Katrina has also been mocked and teased by strangers on the street who call her an ‘ugly freak’ but has learned to ignore the negative comments.
The ridicule she has faced hasn’t stopped her from being hairy on her wedding day and while her husband isn’t a fan of body hair, he supports her decision.
During her time dating, she realised that men accept body hair more than women do.
She said the purpose of her embracing body hair empowerment is to show that women have the choice to be or look like what they want without the pressure of society’s version of beauty.
Katrina explained: “In my opinion the hairy armpits looked very innocent and body hair is very soft and pleasant to the touch.
“To grow my hair at first it was unpleasant; the skin was scratched when the hairs grew back, but it quickly passed.
“First, I let go of the hair on my vulva, then my armpits and only then my legs.
“I did not immediately let my hair grow freely, for a while I still shaved my armpits or legs sometimes, because I was shy. But overall, in a couple of months I turned into an obviously hairy woman.”
Katrina said it hurt when her mum said she looked “disgusting” and revealed her stepfather simply laughed and told her that ‘this is just temporary, she is a rebel and will get tired of it soon’.
She added: “That was the worst part; hearing such words from a loved one was like a bullet in the heart.
“It took my mum seven to eight years to accept me and my point of view.
“Now she supports me and says not to listen to anyone but myself.
“Of course, she is still not a fan of hair on a female body, but this will not shock her anymore.”
While her mum is now more open to the concept, Katrina admitted she has had some hurtful comments in the past.
She said: “I heard people behind me calling me a monster, a crazy feminist, an ugly freak. Some people did not hesitate to come up to me to say that I look terrible. I pretended not to notice this.
“But when I returned home, I cried from powerlessness. I understood that I could not explain my point of view to everyone.
I was always very worried about how my partners would react. But to my surprise and happiness, not a single man was against my body hair.
“Over time, I developed an immunity to what people think about me. I realised that my comfort should concern me more than someone else's opinion.
“I was always very worried about how my partners would react. But to my surprise and happiness, not a single man was against my body hair.
“It looks like it's more acceptable for men than for women. I realised that if a man wants to be intimate with you, then body hair is the last thing he thinks about.”
Katrina’s confidence continued to grow, and she let her hair grow even on her wedding day.
But she made sure all eyes were on her wedding and not her hairy body.
She said: “Now I'm happily married, my husband is not a fan of body hair, but he respects and accepts my choice. Unfortunately, I have only one wedding photo with body hair.”
She said that she decided to do an experiment in public where the couple observed people's reactions to male shaved and female hairy legs.
Katrina said: “We concluded that both options are not acceptable for people.
“But people tried to find explanations why he shaved his legs (getting ready for a tattoo, doing swimming (hydrodynamics), etc.
“When people saw my legs, they usually called me a crazy feminist or a woman who does not want to take care of herself.”
Speaking of her decision to bare her body in its natural state, Katrina said: “This is actually not about body hair; it's about choice.
“This is about the opportunity to be whoever you want, to look like you want, not to hide your feelings and point of view.
“I feel free. I feel like I no longer depend on the opinions of others. I want to destroy these old beauty standards.
“Women can control their bodies and if she does not want to shave it is absolutely normal.”
