He takes it all off. he sees the secrets you have to bare. He observes the nakedness of your state. He throws you of the bed. Offended and discussed. The soft hairs hiding.
The cause of all distress. This was me. The shame was too intense. Crying while I shaved. Ashamed of what I had. Ashamed of the body I had to bear. This is the world we live in. A world in which we shave for others. A world where a woman is only a woman bare. Even the women in Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. Completely hairless below the neck. [1] Erotic censorship that thrives on a one sided view of femininity. [2] Censorship that brings us closer to being pre-pubescent. [3] I will not be kept from womanhood. Look at me. Tell me I am disgusting. I wish to be strong.
I wish for an amount of feminism to arise. The love is strong. The love I wish to bear for myself. Younger ages being hardest of all. A wave of insecurities. Undeniable.
Surrounded by figures which pressure you to shave. Imagery and advertisements preaching to be hairless. [4] We need each other in times of distress. We need to support not bash. We need to show the beauty of our decaying purity.
Don’t act on opinion. Don’t act on tradition. Don’t act on a socially constructed idea of sexiness that is driven by consumerism and marketing. [5] In these times of authenticity and the need for reality. Be what you pretend to be. Be a natural state of beauty. Be the you the way you were put on this earth. You’re a woman to be. Become the woman you are meant to be. The woman I want to be.¬¬ I try to reach out to you. I try to show you the beauty of it all. By showing you an editorial pamphlet. By creating pictures which speak to youth culture. Pictures which are feminine. Pictures of real woman with “imperfections”. Imperfections which are perfect in my eyes. I want to give you the confidence to follow.
Follow the inspiration I hope to give to you. “Realwomenhavehair”. Follow the Hashtag. Follow your inner thoughts. Become confident. Recreate beauty standards. Be a part of a new fresh beautiful generation of woman.
