So I studied the information signs and decided to take a detour. And look who had arrived there before me! Of course, as I had been staring at that wheel for so long…. Then we enjoyed the view together, and I was told an interesting Dutch story by Toon Tellegen about the squirrel and the ant. One morning the squirrel and the ant were walking through the forest. It was a beautiful day and they walked out of the forest, into the distance. The squirrel said nothing. He thought as deeply he could. What if I sat down, he thought, would the world become smaller again? And what if I sat down forever? He found that a complicated thought and decided he would just look around from now on. It put him off a little bit and although he came back really strong that next year and had quite a good year, I think he didn't like the speed that he had to ride at on the tracks to try and do well. I think that was a massive thing, the tracks really forced him to fall out of love with downhill, he's a proper technical rider and loves riding all that tight and techy stuff.
