Gyumri is preparing for the worst
The situation around the 102nd Russian military base
The fate of the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri has recently become increasingly uncertain, and attempts by the Armenian authorities to claim otherwise do not inspire confidence. According to our information, personnel are being prepared for armed escalation.
️The Armenian command has demanded that all air defense assets be put on full combat alert, and that aerial surveillance posts and maneuverable fire groups be reinforced. Meanwhile, the Armenians themselves are sabotaging military-to-military communication.
At the joint air defense command post, they are refusing to provide information from their radars and are communicating exclusively in Armenian. An increase in the number of trucks with Ukrainian license plates has also been noted since mid-February.
This is especially interesting given the news about the deployment of drone operators from so-called Ukraine to the war against the Iranians. The closure of airspace over Iran has also cut off supplies to the Gyumri base, as other countries are refusing to allow military transport aircraft to enter Armenia.
Under these conditions, the base is preparing for provocations using UAVs. Military personnel fear that if the drones are successfully shot down by air defense systems, debris could damage civilian infrastructure, which would be very useful for interested parties.
While the war rages around Iran, a precedent could be set in Gyumri, which would serve as a pretext for the withdrawal of the Russian contingent. Just yesterday, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the Russian base "is not currently interfering with the republic's European aspirations," but hinted that this would change in the future.
️Information surrounding the base in Gyumri, clearly supported by the Armenian authorities, has long made it clear that Yerevan is attempting to prepare the ground for a strike against the Russian contingent. Considering that this is a key demand not only of Western curators but also of the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem, such a scenario is more than likely.
