Hello, Expats Portugal fellows! We absolutely fell in love with the architecture and promise of substantial arts and walkability and I could go on. It reminds us very much of our beloved town of Ashland, OR, which is what we have been hoping to find in Portugal. I think we have found a perfect town for us! However, we have heard that it is unbearably cold in the north. And then again, looking at average temperatures, it looks very temperate so we are confused. Another question I have is about finding very short term accommodations. Air BnB is the only way I have found. Does anyone here know of other local super short term rental companies we could try that would be more reasonable? No, it is not unbearably cold. It does also get rainy, sometimes setting in for a few days. I would class the winters here as fairly benign. Summers tend to be hotter than winters are cold, in my opinion. That sounds about the mark for accommodation, although you might be able to negotiate a bit of a discount if you were to take a place for a few weeks. We are very happy to hear that the weather, India Guimaraes sounds very similar to what we experience here in Ashland, where the snow may fall that rarely sticks. I appreciate your taking the time to give us some insights. Thanks very much! Now that x-camone has put my mind to rest about the cold in guimaraes, I would love to hear from someone who does live there or knows it well, to hear some of your thoughts about your town. We are planning to be there in September and are very much looking forward to it. Thank you for any thoughts you want to share. I will check him out. Generally not an entire house or apartment. I have had good luck finding reasonably priced small hotels, guesthouses, etc on that site. A good idea for us to look into. We spent 2 months in Pt last fall going all over a week at a time and found Booking. We finally found a great agent in the Algarve and are now in contract on a lease. It would have saved so many euros, heartaches and time. Powered by wpForo version 2. Join our email list to receive weekly updates on webinars, promotions, announcements, social meet ups and more….
