This is the best blind buy I've ever made. This is a scent you have to experience yourself. I feared this might be juvenile since reviews state there is a strong fruity cherry scent. There is a strong cherry scent for me it doesn't read cough syrup or candy. Again, you have to experience it yourself. Cherry Patchouli with soft Rose lite Almond, not much licorice but it's there but not cloying. As the day progresses, I smell a sweet soapy soda pop smell. It is more complex than my description. This is a mature scent it is not juvenile in any way. Not certain this scent is heady enough for winter weather though. Great for spring/summer/fall wherever seasons apply. This scent is light not bright but almost sweet earthy clean. If that's possible with a gourmand scent. I normally go with a floral, but you know Amazon, they had a deal and Guerlain is a classic French brand I felt comfortable with, and my standby Champs-Elysées was not in stock (COVID), so I tried this. I love it. BEAU-TI-FUL.

Smells gorgeous. Cherry, sweet, great quality! I have several from this line, a great addition for warm weather!

La Petite Robe Noire Ma Robe Hippie Chic Perfume by Guerlain, In a strikingly Bohemian scent, Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Ma Robe Hippie Chic perfume was introduced in 2018 to celebrate the sweetly feminine side of urban hippie fashion. The top opens with a delicate and definitely girlish sweet cherry water, joined by succulent rose water and gourmand, nutty almonds. Despite the fruity open, the top still retains a distinct floral aroma. The heart has a more refined, sensual rose, joined by the herbal goodness of black tea leaves. The base has warm, seductive Tonka bean and earthy, herbal patchouli for a comfortable and compelling dry-down with a woodiness that increases over time. This is an eclectic and unusual perfume, at once girlish without being too juvenile; sweet, shy and precocious. It’s a fun fragrance that seeks adventure and remains light and somewhat ephemeral.

La Petite Robe Noire Guerlain for women
Me, 1 minute ago: What in the reese's peanut butter fuck is 'hot sand accord'? Okay, whatever you say Imaginary Authors... Me, in the present: You fool. You imbecile. You absolute dim-witted fuck. Here's your dunce hat. A crown to signal the queen of all idiots everywhere! -...
Don't be afraid of the Intense licorice upon first spray, It soon transforms into a very sweet almondy cherry. I don't get a lot of rose. considering the Taif one, which does stand out a lot in other perfumes. Overall, if you like Lolita :Lempicka, this will be up your alley. I love it.
Its ok but I dont get the hype unfortunately. Smells a little bit old/mature to me. I prefer absolut aphrodisiac way more.
Boarded the hype train (very late) and got a bottle this week. Yeah, it's pretty good. But the original L'homme is better, for me at least.
Gorgeous; heat & incense-soaked cypress woods. Becomes a touch sweeter as the scent progresses, but only a touch. Very much 'a desert forest in high noon' feel, however contradictory that may be. Wears best in autumn/winter, I would say autumn moreso because I think a bit of heat...
Definitely not for me, but I'm having fun wearing my sample nonetheless! At first test I wrote it off pretty quickly - though it was pleasant (reminded me a lot of Smuggler's Soul by Lush), it just wasn't what I typically like to wear... but then the fragrance takes a sharp turn...
I really wanted to be obsessed with this fragrance given the amazing reviews, but after using up a 0.33 ml bottle, it still falls flat for me. This doesn’t smell bad in any way, it just… smells like someone who’s insecure and trying to figure out their identity. To me, there are skin scents that...
I only wear this in 50 or below weather. It’s really warm, comforting, and delicious. I only get a hint of bergamot at the very beginning, but mostly on my skin it’s a soft powdery cocoa and vanilla scent. I wish my chemistry drew out a bit more of the violets, but all in all it’s a great cold...
Tested this one yesterday and it was an immediate ringer for Lolita Lempicka! Smells like it has almonds, although not listed in the ingredients. But it's softer, more airy, perhaps slightly watery, delicate Lolita Lempicka; because Lolita is quite enclosing, powdery and strong. It's...
This smells amazing. A very strong perfume, so a little goes a long way! If you don’t want everyone in the building to smell it just one spray, sometimes I even spray it on my back so that it’s not right in my face while it dries down. Very smoky, sensual, warm, but still just slightly sweet....
It's like a more soapy and floral Ombre Nomade, superb fragrance. Perfect for fall, winter and spring months. Super wearable oud
This smells almost exactly like My Way by Giorgio Armani, especially in the opening! If you wear both of them (one on each arm), you’ll won’t be able to tell them apart. A near 1:1 dupe, which is more affordable. The minuses that only make me like this fragrance — and not love it — are the...
Very powerful and divisive fragrance, you get what you pay for. Not a fan of the opening, lots of oregano and pepper. The dry down is very nice; very woodsy and oud the reminds me of smelling the trees and grass during the night time. Overall great scent once you get past the opening, lasts all day.
It's okay. I expected to dislike it, perhaps strongly. However, the opening is quite nice and unique, with an interesting mixture of dill and anise and leather. However, it pretty quickly dries down to a very boring and generic designer scent that reminds me of Macy's. Eh.
@waldganger Well played sir, tip of the cap
I remember Cléa! Lovely, probably the best scent from Yves Rocher. I also had some minis of Magnolia (ugh), Ispahan and Chevrefeuille back in the 80s.
Honey is one thing that I've loved with a passion since I was a child. I just bought a jar of raw wildflower honey. Where I live, almost all the honey available commercially is clover honey, which is truly wonderful in itself. Orange blossom is, however, in my opinion the best. That being...
Despite of the tacky bottle and the ridiculous ad, the perfume notes sound promising.
Like rickyrebarco says; ´I hope to try the new parfum version in the 'regular' bottle for us plebeians´ I´d be more than happy. Don´t care for this ´Maisons d’art coffret´, I think it´s an ugly thing, that´s going to collect dust...
This has become one of my absolute favorite notes, right up there with benzoin
Did they reformulate this and remove all the bubblegum sweetness referred to in this initial impression? Because this smells just like a 1950’s soapy barbershop vetiver. It’s derivative, just not of Invictus. I’m 90% certain this scent was used in an old shaving cream.
I am waiting for my sample set so excited.
This one has gotten too much hype recently, in the community and from social media influencers. I finally got a big bottle of the Moustache EDP and I have to say, it's a bit overrated. It's not bad at all...a sweet vanilla/amber fragrance that could be unisex and works well in the...
@Siv777 - Shamen have been around since time immemorial, throughout the world; most if not all indigenous peoples throughout history have had their own version of wise men and women/healers/witches/shamen, communicating with the spirit world through, for instance, mushrooms. The Sami across...
Elena, thank you so much for writing this article! I enjoyed reading it and learned so much. Many times I saw myself in the many references to the old habit (and very hard to break, because lets face it, even if it poses no change at all in the perfume, it is kind of fun to watch it change as...
Fascinating! Brazil is one of the countries I'd love to visit for its wonderful aromas! Thank you for letting us about this unusual fruit! I wonder what it smells like..
Amazing brand, worth every penny, the quality is through the roof. This release is not my cup of tea, but if you are intriqued, do not hesitate. Perverso is among the most lavish and excentric parfumes in my collection and it lasts forever.
On a Giorgio binge at the moment, and stumbled across this article. Love it, and this has been one of my favourite all-time perfumes since I was 14 in 1999. I am not sure what it smelt like in the 80s, but I believe I have just acquired a bottle from sometime in the 90s, made in the USA, a...
Personally to me, Stash is sweet, smooth, creamy, woody and nutty. I don't get anything buttery from it but I've not found any woody perfumes I like as much. On me it actually smells like sage, soft sandalwood, incense and pistachio with a creamy musk and a slight syrupy quality....
What about Essenza di Zegna, Givenchy eau de Vetyver, Rochas Macassar, all the vintage Balenciaga's and vintage Balmain's? Nowadays every idiot can launch a so-called Niche fragrance, but it took guts, knowledge, and years to create the great ones.
2Mary-Jayne I wonder if Caron still make those branded fans, after all these changes - with owners, with new perfumer etc. Seems like fans could be a good (and funny tongue-in-cheek) connection with old times! :)
Got excited for these fragrances then realized they don’t ship to America 😕
Truly educational - and I laughed out loud in recognition to learn about the "DPG effect" - thank you, Matvey! Another enigma decoded. My personal fragrance taste (dark, woody, spicy, long lasting) should probably land me in the oil-fans team, but my own experience of wearing oil-based...

La Petite Robe Noire by Guerlain is a Amber Vanilla fragrance for women. La Petite Robe Noire was launched in 2012. The nose behind this fragrance is Thierry Wasser. Top notes are Sour Cherry, Almond, Red Berries and Bergamot; middle notes are Licorice, Rose, Tea and Taif Rose; base notes are Vanilla, Anise, Tonka Bean, Patchouli and iris.
The house of Guerlain launched an exclusive and limited edition La Petite Robe Noire in February 2009. In February 2011, it also presented the second limited edition of the line—La Petite Robe Noire 2. In early 2012, Guerlain decides to relaunch the debut and to offer the fragrance to a broad market. The new La Petite Robe Noire is modified, developed by the in-house perfumer Thierry Wasser.
Inspired by the elegance and eternity of a little black dress, the perfume exudes Parisian chic and gracefulness. It opens with playful and sparkling aromas of black cherry, bergamot, red berries and almond. Bulgarian and Turkish roses rule the heart, further developing with notes of licorice and smoked black tea. Aniseed, tonka bean, vanilla, iris and patchouli form the base.
The bottles of La Petite Robe Noire collection are replicas of the classical vials of the house, such as L'Heure Bleue. The dress print has been altered so that each of the past three bottles shows a different shape of this clothing. The animated ad campaign was created by French artists Olivier Kuntzel and Florence Deygas.
The new La Petite Robe Noire is available as 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

What you need to know about top perfume notes is that they are what you will smell first when you apply any fragrance. So you can say that every perfume 'opens up' with its top notes. The sad part is that top notes usually last very short, somewhere in the range of a few minutes up to 15 minutes. Of course, some extreme cases leave this frame.

Mid notes are usually the reason why we actually love any perfume. That is because they make the perfume smell intense. You can smell them often as soon as you apply the fragrance and their scent lingers around you and changes as time goes on. Also, they stick around for much longer than top notes. When you combine all of these facts, you will understand why mid notes are usually the most important ingredients in every perfume.
