What? They didn't change anything it's a FLANKER.
I love guerlain but why change something that isn't broke i love the one with the cherries and licorice its fantastic like cherry coke or dr pepper! It drew me in so much i had to buy it
my bad it is a flanker LOL..has anyone tried this?
Great scent, very bold, both natural and classy. Wonderful projection!
I find the illustration on the box way nicer than the evening dress... Of course, having moss in it will definitely draw me to it more to try.
Canne just had their film festival this year.
Is Guerlain using "moss" once again? If so they need to reissue Sous Les Vent and Parure fully restored! Well, maybe partially...
Oh yeah, these ads and marketing are a little vulgar. When does Paris have a red carpet?
Omg I want this. I'm in love with the original. The bottle and box on this one are soooo cute! I can't wait to get my hands on it. LOVE Guerlain!
If this is a "very sucsessful line" then why the need of so many flankers in such a short time??!!!
What does it mean "somewhat eccentric"? :)
Well, but no cherries this time, a good sign for me, will definetely try it!
I think the illustration looks cheap instead of 'couture'. The bottle may be prettier without it.
no more cherry? maybe I can give it a chance then. chypre tonka bean & moss, mmmmh teaser!

opening versace pour homme, drydown allure home sport. cool fragrance but smells cheaper.
Biggest reason I don't frequent the YSL aisle in a perfume shop. There's notes there that remind me of mothballs and bug spray at the back of my throat.
why the hate? it smells great clean fresh spicy. it feels rich and sexy. love this fragrance and i think every guy should have this in their collections.
Private Show with a woodier note and slightly better sillage and longevity. BO makes me nauseous (heh), biggest reason I don't frequent YSL counters at a store. I do get the inspo in that here. This doesn't have that weird bugspray and mothballs notes I get from BO.
lemon, wood, musk. nothing else. i bought it on sale 50ml for 30 bucks. great deal but not that great smell.
This is a really comforting, end-of-summer, youthful scent. It's fresh, with candy-like fruitiness and a nice gourmand base. The berry note in this is somewhat aquatic and really freshens up the powdery florals and thick marshmallow. I can see it being a really nice perfume for younger...
Such a good winter fragrance, I would place it one spot behind spicebomb extreme in that aspect. If spicebomb seems like a little too much for whatever you're doing wear this. When I put this on I can't stop smelling myself, which is always a good sign. I would definitely recommend.
love this fragrance. its so fresh and clean very professional.
I own the L'Eau D'Issey Intense for men. Where that one opens with Citrus and moves into Spices, Concrete and Smoke in the drydown, this one is the opposite. The light to "Intense"'s dark. Smoke hints in the opening. Becomes this light fresh citrus aquatic masterpiece....
when is the desserts collection out for purchase?
I believe this is a dupe of Acqua di Sale by Profumum Roma. Have not tried Acqua di Sale so can't confirm.
Tobacco, Vanilla, Caramel. Warm, sweet, addictive. I own many fragrances, yet this little roll-on keeps me crawling back for more. To be fair, I am a gourmand lover and oriental, heavy scents have always been my jam. I find this to be way more feminine than unisex. If I want more projection (you...
I get the comparison between Bonbon and PH's Gold Rush, although they have some differences. BB is leaning towards more caramel, and PH is a nectarine tart dessert. In my experience, the lasting power wasn't there — I could barely smell it after two hours. I cannot justify the high...
I have tried it in store and it is sweet. Kind of reminds me of Zara Gold a bit, with some hints of Vibrant Leather..
I use this as my casual fall/winter fragrance if I don't want to use my sweeter fragrances. Great cold weather version of the normal Eros. The people disappointed by this probably expected more from it but Eros, to me, has always been a more casual daily/club fragrance so I got what I expected.
I now watched the videos, I love that Falcon Leather is supposed to smell like a falconer's glove!
I have never put my nose on a single fragrance featured in this video, and am familiar with just a few of the brands (Nishane, Byredo, Carner Barcelona, and I think I've heard of 4160 Tuesdays). So a niche list for the most part at least. My autumn oriented collection is a mixture of...
Missed it, after looking at the site every day for weeks. Not paying $250 on eBay or Mercari. Oh well. Maybe next year. ETA added myself to the notification list in case the tonka version comes back in stock but am doubtful that Guerlain will make more available.
Gutted that they axed the whole line. Regina is my beloved sig (and no finances to hunt and hoard backups at the moment) and I've been trying to hunt down a bottle of Ybris for years. There's a few I'm interested in in this group but I'm feeling a bit burned by such a total...
I hate to critique these types of articles, because not only are they interesting, they're fun to read and are very informative. First of all, I need to critique your use of the word "redolent". "Reminiscent of" or "akin to" would be more appropriate or commonly...
I second pacific rock moss but also will add sel de argent by BDK which I like even more than PRM…. The dry downs are very similar, but PRM has a bit more floral in the dry down and more citrus in the opening…. I much prefer the experience of SDA.
@glyph - It is pretty similar to a fruity chypre, but with lemon and apple instead of bergamot. I’m fairly certain patchouli is used. The burned cannabis replaces the moss. Dark woods and something sweet combine to replace the resinous labdanum note. Definitely NOT a traditional chypre, but if...
Don't want this but I'm considering Eau du Space/Luna again.
I have always loved Yves Rocher fragrances and products. Great article!
My first ever Amouage scent was Jubilation XXV, and I fell in love with it. Chong brought Amouage into the spotlight and made them a giant in the luxury fragrance game.
I love honey notes, despite the sticky sweetness of honey itself, I generally find the note a more subtle and complex base for gourmands than the typical sugar-esq sweetness of most things marketed to the teen and 20 something population (which, no judgement, I'm a fan of photorealistic...
I guess I'm a sentimentalist, but Annick Goutal - the brand - was quite dear to my heart. I purchased Gardenia Passion at her perfumery in Paris decades ago and fell in love. I have a few in my collection today, but I have to admit that the new bottles leave me cold. I understand how and why...
Your lovely essay made me eager to try L'Heure Bleue, which has quickly become one of my favorite fragrances. (And I'm a man in his late 60s.) And I love that the first Paris photo you posted is of one of my favorite corners in that city, right in front of the Café St-Régis, on the Île...
Despite of the tacky bottle and the ridiculous ad, the perfume notes sound promising.
Like rickyrebarco says; ´I hope to try the new parfum version in the 'regular' bottle for us plebeians´ I´d be more than happy. Don´t care for this ´Maisons d’art coffret´, I think it´s an ugly thing, that´s going to collect dust...
Did they reformulate this and remove all the bubblegum sweetness referred to in this initial impression? Because this smells just like a 1950’s soapy barbershop vetiver. It’s derivative, just not of Invictus. I’m 90% certain this scent was used in an old shaving cream.
I am waiting for my sample set so excited.
This one has gotten too much hype recently, in the community and from social media influencers. I finally got a big bottle of the Moustache EDP and I have to say, it's a bit overrated. It's not bad at all...a sweet vanilla/amber fragrance that could be unisex and works well in the...
@Siv777 - Shamen have been around since time immemorial, throughout the world; most if not all indigenous peoples throughout history have had their own version of wise men and women/healers/witches/shamen, communicating with the spirit world through, for instance, mushrooms. The Sami across...

Guerlain launches La Petite Robe Noire Couture at the beginning of 2014 as a new flanker of the hugely successful La Petite Robe Noire perfume line. This new fragrance is conceived as glamorous, more chypre and fit for the red carpet.
The composition is floral-fruity, vivacious, bubbly and somewhat eccentric, retaining some of the distinctive gourmand character. Top notes include sparkling bergamot and raspberry, which is the main fruity ingredient of this new version. The heart presents rose laid on its chypre base of patchouli, vetiver, tonka bean and moss. The illustration on the bottle this time shows a glamorous, strapless long evening dress. The fragrance is available in Eau de Parfum concentration.

What kind of perfume do you select on days when you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders? A triple incense extravaganza that makes you smell like a Gothic church? A quirky niche perfume that requires a degree in philosophy? A complex classic? I love all of those, but on hectic days, sweet and frilly is what I turn to. Lately, La Petite Robe Noire Couture , a sophisticated variation on Guerlain’s original little black dress, is my sweet perfume of choice.
Here, I have to make a little aside. The original La Petite Robe Noire Eau de Parfum released in 2009 was tweaked in 2012, and it’s this reorchestrated version that became a runaway success for Guerlain. It’s a raspberry macaron with a twist of licorice. The sparkling Eau de Toilette was released in 2013, and this year, we have the Couture version. All but the first La Petite Robe Noire were created by perfumer Thierry Wasser.
“Sugary,” said my husband a few minutes after I donned La Petite Robe Noire Couture. He’s right, because Couture has so many stewed raspberries that it smells like warm jam. Peppery citrus tones things down enough to make Couture more palatable, but for the next hour or so, it remains intensely sweet.
What comes next is the best part. After fooling you into thinking that Couture is just another bubbly gourmand à la Miss Dior Chéri
