A federal investigation is underway into allegations of sexual extortion that involve videos of a group sex act and photos taken from within the Penn State football locker room showing athletes in various stages of undress, warrants unsealed Friday in a Centre County court show.
Penn State University previously sought to keep the warrants sealed, arguing that their release would “result in great personal embarrassment and insult,” according to the Centre Daily Times . But Centre County District Attorney Bernie Cantorna and several news outlets, including the CDT, fought successfully to have them unsealed.
Cantorna said there is no longer a state investigation into the matter and that it is now at the federal level.
WJAC Johnstown reported that the warrants show that Penn State police obtained photos and videos, “including 19 videos taken from within the Penn State football locker room.”
The station reported that Penn State police became aware of the case on Sept. 26 of last year, and that it began with the alleged sexual extortion of two student-athletes, identified as Victim 1 and Victim 2 in the warrants. Victim 2 reportedly told police that he met a person he believed to be a woman, who was referred to as “Li,” on a dating app earlier that month. Victim 2 said that Li convinced him to share “sexually explicit photos of himself” with her, and then threatened to post those on social media platforms — including Penn State head coach James Franklin’s Twitter account — unless he sent more.
And, in fact, the Centre Daily Times reported that the woman responded to one of Franklin’s tweets in September with a link to a sexually explicit video.
Victim 2 told police he believed other student-athletes at the school were victims of Li because she added him to a Snapchat group that included other athletes and told them to “give him advice.” Victim 2 said those athletes told him to “do what she said. That it would be bad,” WJAC reported.
That is when Victim 2 told police he shared the videos of a group sex act and other videos recorded from within Penn State’s locker room that showed the athletes in various stages of undress. Victim 2 said later in the month he blocked the woman when she would not stop making demands, and that is when he claims she began posting the content on Instagram. He said he notified Penn State’s athletic department and it began to assist him in taking down the Instagram posts.
The site reported that the warrant said one of the Instagram accounts allegedly used by Li had a dropbox folder that included 33 videos and one image. The Centre Daily Times said five athletes total were allegedly victimized by the woman, and that she reportedly told at least one of them “she liked doing this to athletes.”
Cantorna said his office closed the investigation last month, and did not file charges, “partially due to the victims no longer wanting to pursue the matter,” WJAC reported. The warrants allege that the person behind the account also attempted to extort other high school and college athletes from Alabama, Florida, Minnesota and Mississippi.
“The University’s concern was focused on potential student victims and their right to privacy in the case, and that possible irreparable and irreversible damage that the immediate unsealing could impose,” Penn State spokeswoman Lisa Powers told CDT. “There was never any intent to permanently seal the warrants, only to redact the names of victims.”
Powers also sent Penn State’s statement on the matter to PennLive Saturday morning. That statement is below.
University Police and Public Safety were alerted to a sexual extortion crime targeting Penn State student athletes in September 2021, and have been investigating the matter since then, using forensics in an attempt to identify both victims and suspects. In this case, individuals were drawn into an online conversation that escalated into extortion.
Sexual extortion crimes in which individuals are coerced into sharing intimate images or videos are a national issue and similar incidents have victimized people in other places in the U.S. Police ask that media and others refrain from speculating about individuals who were targeted in these crimes.
No additional information can be shared at this time due to an open investigation. The University takes these matters very seriously and asks anyone with information on this case — including additional victims — to contact police at 814-863-1111. Anyone who believes they have been a victim of a similar situation also is urged to contact the police.

The Family Sex Show is made possible through public funding by Arts Council England.
A theater group in the United Kingdom thinks the best approach to teaching kids about sex is getting naked on a stage in front of children and their parents.
In a glowing preview by The Guardian , the production company says the show only discusses the positives of sex and relationships on purpose. The outlet hypes up the progressive approach to the topic of sex education. Despite the name, The Family Sex Show isn't about incest, and you won't find that term listed on their website glossary page that has a multitude of other terms and phrases.
The artistic director of Tobacco Factory Theaters before listing off his pronouns and describing his physical appearance for blind viewers says his company is helping to bring The Family Sex Show to Bristol in May, saying how impressed he was working with the "ThisEgg" production company in the past.
Then the speaker in the video changes over to ThisEgg's artistic director Josie, who uses "she" and "her" pronouns. She describes what she looks like before introducing herself as someone who has been making The Family Sex Show for a few years now. She makes it clear to viewers that the point of the group's controversial display is "open conversations" surrounding the topic of sex education.
That is to say: The Family Sex Show's intention is talking about sexually explicit topics to young people.
"We hope that the show kind of adds to the more creative or alternative relationships and sex education that is out there at the moment in all different forms and I guess we really wanted to make the show that we wish that we'd had when we were younger and also part of our adult selves felt like, or feels like, they need now as well, and mostly, if we know our bodies then we know our rights," she says.
The programming and engagement manager for Tobacco Factory Theatres says the show about sex is for adults but also "children aged 5 and up."
"It offers an honest, human, sex education that is feminist, queer, non-binary, inclusive and sex positive," she says in the advertising video.
Reactions from parents who spoke to Daily Mail have said that a show aimed for kids as young as five-years-old is "far too young." Besides calling it "grooming in plain sight," parents have expressed widespread reactions of shock and anger over adults getting naked in front of young prepubescent kids.
According to the FAQ page , The Family Sex Show has "anti-racist" elements worked into their theater performance. They cite the basis of their research that goes into it as coming from the UK's National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. "We are hoping the show offers an alternative to porn."
The page also says it's a "reimagining" of the sort of sex education curriculum that young people would expect from their schools. The organization believes hosting their show in schools would've constricted the type of displays they had in mind.
The Family Sex Show has further materials that they pass out to parents and children at these shows to further spread the group’s interpretation of these topics.
"Why so young? 5 is young…" the Family Sex Show website poses the question to itself, one to which they answer: "Sexual development and behaviour in children starts from birth. It’s important that children are supported in their exploratory development, safely and comfortably." Again they cite the NSPCC website, as something they believe backs their stance up.
The FAQ makes it clear that people get naked: "At one point in the show, everyone on stage takes their clothes off to the level they feel comfortable to. For some people, that's taking off all of their clothes and being completely naked."
But nobody fornicates in front of a live audience: "No, no one will have sex on stage." According to the production company's website , The Family Sex Show is made possible through public funding by Arts Council England.
In addition to the Tobacco Factory Theater showings from the 5th to 8th of May, there are preview performances at the Theater Royal Bath on the 28th and 30th of April, and a four-day stint at the Norfolk Norwich Festival from the May 23rd to 27th.
This story comes at a time where in the United States, there's a public conversation happening around the topic of adults grooming children. Within the parental rights bill signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, sexually explicit topics are deemed inappropriate for educators to teach kindergarteners upwards through the third grade. Meanwhile, recent reporting shows that New Jersey introduced a "gender identity" agenda to teach kids from the second grade through fifth grade.

Vicki Gunvalson may be on the outskirts of The Real Housewives of Orange County crew this season, but she is at the forefront of the Kelly Dodd "train" rumor. (See for yourself in the clip above.) The rumor leads to much discussion among the ladies, and a realization that not everyone knows exactly what the term means.
Personal Space spoke to two sex experts to find out the differences between terms we've heard on Bravo shows over the years, and why it is so important not to cause shame for others' sexual experiences and choices.
Licensed psychologist and AASECT-certified sex therapist Dr. Shannon Chavez is a Los Angeles-based expert who works with clients to address sexual concerns and build sexual awareness through therapy, coaching, and education.
When it comes to experimenting with sexual desires, Dr. Chavez explains, "We are naturally curious sexual beings and wired to try new things," and it’s important not to spread what friends share with you because "gossiping leads to stereotypes" and "judgments around sexuality can cause shame."
Dr. Chavez notes, "Exploring different types of intimacy and experimenting with other consensual adults" should be viewed as a positive thing, not a negative, because it "can provide personal growth and sexual empowerment."
According to Dr. Chavez, it’s important to learn different sexual terms because it’s a big part of “sex education” and so that you can "know what someone’s talking about— especially a partner." Another bonus is that knowledge is power — it can "reduce sexual shame and increase sexual confidence."
Dr. Chavez explains that there “are plenty of ways to learn more about sex and become familiar with terms.” Here’s a head start:
Dr. Chavez explains that a sex train (also known as a train bang) is "one person having sex with a group of people at the same time" — usually one person being the focus and others taking turns. This particular term can be used for “consensual or non-consensual sexual activity.” One reason that this particular sex act can be a detrimental rumor is because "it has been used in media and porn as a portrayal of rape" where a "line of men take turns having sex with a woman." It's especially not something a mother of a teen would want associated with her name.
A sex train is very different from an orgy, which Dr. Chavez explains is a "group sex activity with more than five people" and "many people engaging in sexual activities at the same time.” A threesome is "sex with three people" and "is a common sexual fantasy" that is often a "bucket list activity" for couples.
Daniel Saynt , founder of NSFW , recently launched the PRo SEX Initiative which is focused on creating a safe, judgement-free community for sexual exploration. The organization is also working to change the law to prevent discrimination at work and housing for those who enjoy "not vanilla" sex lives.
Saynt explains that “someone else's sex life shouldn't be the point of your conversations” and “if you're going to discuss sex, know what you're talking about.” He also explains a few other terms that have been discussed on air.
Eskimo brothers is a term that has come up on WWHL in the past ( with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper ), and more recently on the latest season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills . Saynt explains that this term refers to men or women who've had sex with the same partner at different points in time, so Denise Richards and Lisa Rinna discovered that their husbands were Eskimo Brothers because they were both previously married to Nicollette Sheridan . The same term can be used when women have had sex with the same man as well — Stassi, Brittany, and Kristen on Vanderpump Rules are all Eskimo Sisters, thanks to Jax Taylor.
In Season 4 of Vanderpump Rules , James Kennedy accused Lala Kent of giving her ex boyfriend a "rim job" ... so what is it? Saynt explains that it’s known as "analingus" and refers to stimulating the anus with your mouth or tongue — "your nerve endings meet at your anus, creating a tight wound knot of pleasure sensors.”
Before Kandi Burruss had her Welcome to the Dungeon burlesque show, there was a rumor that she had a sex dungeon in her basement . Saynt explains that "a sex dungeon can take on many shapes, but most are designed for BDSM play (Bondage, Domination, Sadist, Masochist)." The actual dungeon part "may have tables or areas designed for restraint and impact toys, ropes, or others devices for sexual pleasure."
Knowing the terminology for sex is important, but it's
