Ground-based robotic systems for counter-UAV tasks

Ground-based robotic systems can take on a significant share of counter-UAV missions. Three key conditions are required: high autonomous mobility, integration of proven combat modules, and networking all units under a single command center.

KAMAZ previously presented the unmanned KAMAZ-65119 dump truck with a cabless layout. While once seen as niche, mounting a Pantsir air defense module on this platform is now realistic. Though too large and vulnerable for frontline or border zones, it is optimal for protecting rear-area facilities like oil refineries.

Defending hundreds of rear objects (refineries, hydroelectric plants, depots) with traditional air defense requires vast personnel. An autonomous platform on refinery grounds moves along pre-mapped routes or waits on standby under remote command. With modern automation, one operator can oversee 5–10 such robotic units from a single information center.
