Grit RX Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 10, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Grit RX (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Grit RX mobile application and its widget extension (together, the “App”).

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who We Are

Grit RX is a training journal that helps you schedule activities, log completion, track readiness, import workouts from Apple Health, sync data through iCloud, and build training plans with an in-app AI coach (“John”).

2. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to information processed through the App. It does not cover third-party services linked from the App (including Apple and OpenAI), except where we describe how the App interacts with them.

Your use of the App is also subject to our Terms of Use, which will be provided separately.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide

When you use the App, you may enter or generate:

  • Activity templates and schedules (titles, types, duration, recurrence, reminders)
  • Completion logs and readiness-related data derived from your use of the App
  • Injury records and related notes you choose to store
  • Messages and instructions you send to John in chat
  • Preferences and settings within the App

We do not require a separate Grit RX account. Where iCloud is enabled, your data is associated with your Apple ID through Apple’s services.

3.2 Apple Health (HealthKit)

If you grant permission, the App reads workout and related fitness data from Apple Health to show imported workouts in your calendar and activity log and to support training-related features.

We access Health data only after you authorize it through Apple’s permission dialog. You can revoke access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Grit RX. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, and we do not sell HealthKit data.

3.3 iCloud and CloudKit

If you are signed in to iCloud, your App data may be stored and synchronized using Apple iCloud / CloudKit in your private iCloud container (iCloud.com.gritrx). Synced data remains tied to your Apple ID and Apple’s infrastructure. We do not operate our own cloud database for core journal data. Apple’s privacy practices apply: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

3.4 Purchases and Subscriptions

Paid features (Grit Pro subscriptions and lifetime activity unlocks) are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive subscription status and entitlement information through StoreKit (for example, whether a purchase is active). We do not receive or store your payment card details or full Apple ID credentials.

3.5 AI Coach (John) — OpenAI

When you use John, the App sends certain content to OpenAI to generate responses, including your chat messages, refinement instructions, and structured context you choose to include (such as existing activities and active injuries), within App limits. This data is sent over encrypted connections for processing only. We do not use John chat content for advertising.

OpenAI’s processing is governed by its own policies: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy/

Do not send sensitive information you do not want processed by an AI service (for example, medical diagnoses, government IDs, or passwords).

3.6 Device and App Data

We may store locally on your device:

  • App preferences and onboarding state
  • Technical flags (for example, whether a free AI trial was used on the device)
  • Client-side counters related to AI request limits
  • Notification scheduling data for reminders you enable

We do not knowingly collect precise geolocation for tracking purposes.

3.7 Widget

The Grit RX widget displays schedule and motivational content based on data available to the App on your device. The widget does not collect additional categories of personal data beyond what the App already processes.

4. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide core App functionality (scheduling, logging, calendar, reminders)
  • Import and display Apple Health workouts you authorize
  • Synchronize your journal across devices via iCloud
  • Operate John (AI planning and refinement)
  • Enforce free-tier limits, subscription entitlements, and AI usage quotas
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve reliability
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal data on these bases:

  • Contract / service delivery — to provide the App and paid features you request
  • Consent — for Apple Health access and optional AI features where consent is required
  • Legitimate interests — to secure the App, prevent abuse, and maintain service quality, balanced against your rights
  • Legal obligation — where required by applicable law

You may withdraw consent (for example, for HealthKit) at any time through device settings. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

6. How We Share Information

We share information only in these situations:

Apple — for iCloud sync, HealthKit permissions, App Store purchases, and system notifications.

OpenAI — to process AI chat requests for John.

Legal and safety — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users and the App.

Professional advisors — only if we engage them in the future, under confidentiality obligations (for example, legal counsel).

We do not share HealthKit data with third parties for advertising or data brokerage.

7. Data Retention

Journal data is retained on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud account until you delete it or remove the App. AI chat is stored as part of your App data on device and iCloud according to your use of the App. AI usage limits are stored locally for quota enforcement. Purchase records are managed by Apple; we retain entitlement status as needed to provide paid features.

If you use in-App reset or delete features, locally stored data will be removed subject to iCloud sync behavior and Apple’s propagation timing.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the data we process, including on-device storage, Apple platform security features, and encrypted network transport (HTTPS/TLS) for API communications. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for securing your device and Apple ID.

9. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, request data portability, or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

You can also:

  • Disable Health access: Settings → Health → Grit RX
  • Manage iCloud sync: Settings → Apple ID → iCloud
  • Manage subscriptions: App Store account settings
  • Disable notifications: Settings → Notifications → Grit RX

To exercise privacy rights, email leschenkoapp@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

10. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

11. International Data Transfers

If you use the App from outside the country where our service providers operate, your information may be processed in countries with different data protection laws, including the United States, where OpenAI and Apple may process data. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

12. Health and Fitness Disclaimer

Grit RX is a training journal and planning tool, not a medical device and not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Readiness scores, AI suggestions, and imported workout data are for informational purposes only. Always consult a qualified professional before making health or training decisions.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice in the App or by other reasonable means. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy, except where further consent is required by law.
