Former NHL Goaltender Greg Millen Joins Hockey Analysis Team as New Color Commentator

Toronto, ON – April 8, 2025 – Veteran hockey analyst and former NHL goaltender Greg Millen has been named the new color commentator for Hockey Night in Canada, bringing decades of experience to the broadcast booth.

Millen, who played 14 seasons in the NHL with teams like the Hartford Whalers, St. Louis Blues, and Chicago Blackhawks, has been a staple in hockey media since retiring in 1994. Known for his sharp insights and engaging personality, he has previously worked with Sportsnet, TSN, and NBC Sports.

'I'm thrilled to be back in a role where I can break down the game for fans,' Millen said in a press release. 'Hockey has given me so much, and I love sharing my perspective on the sport.'

The move comes as Hockey Night in Canada looks to refresh its broadcast team ahead of the 2025-26 NHL season. Network executives praised Millen’s ability to explain complex plays in an accessible way, making him a perfect fit for both casual viewers and hardcore fans.

Fans took to social media to welcome Millen, with many recalling his previous work and humorous on-air moments. His first broadcast is set for October 8, 2025, when the Toronto Maple Leafs face off against the Montreal Canadiens in the season opener.

Millen replaces longtime commentator Craig Simpson, who stepped down at the end of last season. With his deep knowledge of goaltending and team strategies, Millen is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the broadcast.
