Grant Competition 2013

Grant Competition 2013

Every year, the Amway Charitable Foundation “Responsible for the Future” together with the KAF Foundation for the Support and Development of Philanthropy holds a competition among non-profit organizations, including state and municipal ones, for the best project within the framework of the “With Love for Children” program. In 2013, 16 non-profit organizations from different parts of Russia won grants of up to 1.5 million rubles.

From February to March 2013, the Amway Charitable Foundation “Responsible for the Future” together with the KAF Foundation held a grant competition for non-governmental organizations, including public, municipal and state organizations. As part of the competition, we selected the best projects to promote the principles of responsible parenthood, strengthen family values, and rehabilitate children who have been abused. Organizations from 94 cities of Russia took part in the competition, and the number of applications submitted was truly a record - more than 180.

The competition's expert council selected the most interesting, innovative projects with the potential for sustainable growth. As a result, in April we identified 16 best projects of organizations from 11 regions of Russia and allocated more than 16 million rubles for their implementation.

Many participating organizations have written about how important this grant competition means to them. First, it makes it possible to quantitatively and qualitatively increase the level of assistance to the population, which, unfortunately, leaves much to be desired. Interestingly, this is recognized not only by independent experts, but also by government agencies. An official letter from the Ministry of Education and Science states that “in the Russian Federation, the majority of child victims of violence cannot receive qualified assistance in full”. According to statistics, about 60% of families with children in our country belong to socially vulnerable categories and require preventive socio-pedagogical and psychological support. However, they may not always get it. In the Republic of Tatarstan, for example,

Secondly, the funds transferred to non-governmental organizations help them more effectively solve problems in the field of parent-child relations. One of these problems is the occurrence of situations when adoptive parents return adopted children back to the orphanage. In the same Tatarstan, more than 15% of children brought up in orphanages are those who were abandoned not only by their relatives, but also by adoptive parents. Often this happens only because the parents do not understand the psychology of the child, do not know how to behave with him. So, this most acute problem can be solved if you approach it correctly.

Thirdly, the grant competition gives non-governmental organizations the opportunity to carry out activities aimed at preventing the occurrence of such problems. Sometimes it is enough to give the right advice in time, to support parents and children psychologically in order to maintain close relationships within the family. Many organizations that have received a grant from the Amway Charitable Foundation “Responsible for the Future” work specifically with families at risk, helping them resolve urgent conflicts in parent-child relationships or prevent them from arising.

All projects selected by the expert council as part of the grant competition are unique, each of them takes into account the specifics of the region and is aimed not at alleviating “symptoms”, but at resolving problems. After all, it is so important that parents and children love, please and take care of each other.
