Everything seasoned perfectly The gravy is so good taste homemade Macaroni & cheese is super soft and melts in your mouth The cornbread muffin is so fresh and crunchy around the edges. Have of them food we ordered they didn't have. No desserts, greens were sweeter than the yams, Mac and cheese was okay . We asked for certain pieces of chicken but got something totally different . But I'll give the pork chops 5 stars
I was lucky enough to stop by Granny's this past weekend, and I can't wait to come back. I love soul food establishments, and in SoCal, if you're craving it, you gotta be willing to drive to LA. Granny's Kitchen is in a bit of a different location from other notorious spots in LA, such as Dulan's, and is instead located just north of Huntington park. The spot might be a little intimidating to some, but the food is so worth it. I called in over the phone on my drive to the restaurant, only to find out that they did not take phone orders (this was confusing to me since I saw multiple people picking up "online orders" and was even asked when I walked in if I had ordered over the phone). Upon walking into the establishment, they require a mask and sanitation regardless of the mask mandate being lifted in LA. I was greeted by two incredibly hospitable and friendly women, who seemed to be the family behind the restaurant. I ordered the "Hungry Woman Special" which comes with two types of meat, your choice of 3 sides, and two cornbread muffins. I went ahead and got the fried chicken and the BBQ Porkchop, as well as collards, black eye peas, and cornbread dressing. I also ordered an ala carte yam, cabbage, and gravy on the side. They have a cafeteria-style array of options already made, so some sides were not to be seen; therefore, I don't believe they had them at the moment. However, meats like fried chicken were made to order, so I was told to wait outside while they fried it in the back. The price came out to 32 dollars before the tip, with tax included. I received my cherished ensemble of food about 20 minutes later, and could not wait to dig into it as I drove home. Unfortunately, they forgot the side of cabbage I had ordered, and the ala carte sides were much smaller than the sides that came with the combo plate; nevertheless, it wasn't a big deal. All the food remained fresh and warm, even the chicken still being crispy. Ok first the meats, they were fantastic. The pork chop was juicy and tender, with not an overbearing amount of sweetness. The chicken, which was obviously fresh, had a delicious seasoning and was well above basic. As sides go, these collectively were good, not great, but the collards were some of the best I've had. Of course, everything was smothered in the warm, salty, and heartwarming gravy, and all the remains were mopped up with some of the best cornbread I've ever had. I highly recommend coming to Granny's and supporting this family establishment. Coming here transported me back home to Georgia, and I cannot wait to relive that experience again.
I love Granny's. I really do! But please get better packaging. Every single time I order delivery, I'm met with a bag full of food and juice. The lowest quality Styrofoam doesn't work with heavy, juicy soul food. Oh, and most customers don't want hard, burnt, inedible muffins . I'm still giving this black business 5 stars because my veggie plate is always (most of the time) great! But stall us out on stuffing all our items in one cheap Styrofoam please.
Don't get me wrong! The people/employees are polite. But this is the second time that I come to this place and leave empty handed the first time I went they didn't have fried chicken cause their machine was broken. & Now I come and they don't have collard greens because they're about to close in an hour. But they mentioned they run out of the collar greens at 3 PM. I'm just not convinced this place will go on and beyond.
I went in to buy some food. The owner didn't have a mask on. I wasn't wearing a mask either. He asked me to put on a mask. I asked him why did I have to wear a mask you were not? He then told me to leave the store. Very rude!!!
Ive never had an issue with this place until today. Ordered Granny's via doordash today. Two oxtail meals. The rice and gravy were ok a bit spicy with lots of red peppers in it. There were stems all through the rice and gravy. Not sure what kind of stems but it added to me not being totally satisfied. My corn bread dressing was very dry, tasty but dry. Should have gotten a side of the spicy gravy to put over it.‍The oxtails we're a bit tough and the Mac and cheese was just eeeh! It's unfortunate when you spend your money on food you have enjoyed in the past and then you get very disappointed. I don't think I'll be going back. I wouldn't recommend going either.

I had ONE request and that was for them to PLEASE NOT FORGET the friggin sweet tea. And they forgot it. So one star from me. Well, I will give them two stars because I liked the cornbread.
Yummy I had the baked chicken, Mac and cheese with yams. It reminded me of Sunday after church at my grandmother's
I wasn't able to get photos because I was hungry but I just moved to LA from Atlanta and was having a VERY hard time finding a good soul food place. We just do it different down south. I've been to the more popular soul food restaurant here and did not like it at all. The owners are from Arkansas and not from here so I was pretty excited about that. Lol Soul food restaurants here tend to have good meat and not so good sides. Granny's kitchen has both good meat and sides. I got the Woman's feast which included two meats, three sides and two cornbread muffins for like $19.99. The meats I got were fried chicken and neck bones and those were great! My sides were black eyed peas, Mac and cheese, and cabbage . I will admit the the sides were a bit salty (hence the four stars instead of five) but still edible. My fiancé got some yams and they were GREAT! So far this has been the BEST soul food I've had in LA. I'll keep y'all updated:)
