Grand Ho Tram Streep Increased Through Vietnam's New Airport: CEO

A new multi-billion dollar international aviation hub under construction east of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, will roughly halve the current airport transit time for foreign visitors to the Grand Ho Tram Streep Casino Resort (pictured), the venue's organizer, Walt Power, told GGRAsia.

The new airport, scheduled to be completed by 2025, will be in Long Thanh, about 78km (49 miles) northwest of the Hortram Strip, compared with its current aviation hub in the north of central Ho Chi Minh City and 112km from Ho Chi Minh City.

The benefits of the new airport should be "dramatic," said Mr Power of Hortram Projects Inc, which runs a foreign-only casino and Greg Norman-designed golf course in the centre of a seaside resort.

He said: "The dramatic impact this will have on Hortram is that it's currently about a 2.5 hour drive from the airport."

He added that the new one would be "within an hour" by car from Hothram. "It's halfway between Ho Chi Minh City and Hothram," Mr Power said.

He was speaking to GGRAsia while attending the recent Global Game Expo (G2E) Asia 2022, officially called "G2E Asia 2022 Special Edition: Singapore."

Hoiana in Da Nang on Vietnam's central coast, COVID resorts in the southern resort of Phu Quoc, and Phu Quoc's COVID resorts and casinos, which are also part of a pilot scheme to allow economically qualified locals to gamble, are each "about 40 minutes" from the nearest airport, Mr Power said.

Ho Chi Minh City's new airport "put us in the ballpark" given that the Grand Ho tram strip is competitive, he said.

"In my opinion, accessibility is paramount when it comes to competitive advantage," he added.
