Title: The Shadow of the Cross

Good Friday, Jerusalem – 33 A.D.

The sun hung heavy in the sky, as if reluctant to witness the events unfolding below. The streets of Jerusalem were a mix of chaos and eerie stillness.

Mary of Magdala clutched her shawl tightly, her eyes fixed on the battered figure struggling under the weight of a wooden cross. Jesus of Nazareth, once surrounded by crowds eager for miracles, now bore the scorn of those same people.

'Crucify him!' the voices had roared. Now, only whispers remained.

Simon of Cyrene, a traveler pressed into service, helped carry the cross. His face was grim, but his hands were steady. He didn’t know this man, yet he shared His burden.

At Golgotha, the soldiers drove nails into flesh. Jesus uttered no curse, only a prayer: 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.'

John, the beloved disciple, stood beside Mary, the mother of Jesus, her tears silent but her grief louder than any wail.

Darkness fell at midday. The earth trembled. And with one last cry—'It is finished!'—the Savior gave up His spirit.

A Roman centurion, hardened by war, looked up at the lifeless body and whispered, 'Truly, this was the Son of God.'

As the crowd dispersed, Joseph of Arimathea, a secret follower, came forward. With Pilate’s permission, he took Jesus’ body, wrapping it in linen and laying it in a tomb. A stone was rolled into place.

But the story was not over.
