Golf Ball Insertion
Plenty of common household items can be used to relieve pain from heel spurs and plantar fasciitis.
And the simple golf ball is one of the best!
The golf ball’s size, shape, and weight make it the perfect tool to massage your feet almost anywhere. When used in tandem with proven conservative treatments like orthotics, icing, and rest, a golf ball massage can offer all of the following benefits:
For most people, massaging the bottom of the foot with a golf ball is an extremely effective way to temporarily reduce pain from plantar fasciitis and heel spurs. Think of this technique as an extension of your own natural instinct to immediately rub a painful bump or injury: Scientists have long known that rubbing the skin helps silence pain receptors and activate pleasure receptors .
One study published in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy demonstrated that patients with plantar fasciitis who used massage in addition to stretching had better short-term outcomes and pain relief than patients who used stretching alone.
Performing self-massage with a golf ball is simple, and can be done almost anywhere, or any time your feet need some relief. You can massage your sore heels at the table while you eat breakfast, sitting at your desk, or immediately after a workout.
If a golf ball feels too hard on your foot, you may want to consider specialized mobility tools specifically designed for foot massage.
To make the most of your golf ball foot massage, keep the following tips, tricks, and best practices in mind!
Dr. Jacqueline Sutera, a doctor at City Podiatry in New York, encourages her clients to ice their feet for about 15 minutes following a foot massage. Icing can help combat any inflammation, as well as further numbing pain signals in the heels.
Speaking of ice, try combining cold therapy with massage therapy by keeping your golf ball in the freezer until you’re ready for a massage! The cold surface will feel great on your sore heels.
Your goal with the golf ball massage is to break up adhesions and improve blood flow–without aggravating any extra inflammation. While some discomfort is normal, especially at the start of the massage, be gentle with your feet, and take it slow and steady with your rolls.
One of the best times for a plantar fasciitis golf ball massage is after a workout, or after a bath, since the muscles are warmer and more flexible than usual.
Remember: The golf ball massage is just a temporary pain-relief technique. Wear orthotics with Fascia-Bar Technology during the day to help support and realign your arch, cushion your heels, and help your heel pad rebuild itself for lasting relief from plantar fasciitis.
While it might sound like a good idea to avoid painful and tender spots on your foot, don’t be afraid to work those areas. Put as much pressure as you can (it might be uncomfortable, but shouldn’t cause sharp pain) for about 10-15 seconds, then roll the ball along!
Many people make the mistake of only massaging the arch of the foot with the golf ball. Roll the ball along the center, sides, all the way up to your toes, and all the way down to your heel during each massage.

After using this product for several days, I had to return it for a refund. It is able to tee the ball up "most of the time" if your hands are very steady. If not steady, the ball will fall off the tee and you will have to bend down to tee it up. I could live with that but the one thing I could not live with was when the tee was lying flat on the grass after hitting, this device was not good at all in picking the tee up. I had to jiggle the tee so it was sticking part way up in order to grab it but most of the time one of my playing partners had to pick the tee up for me. I am looking into what I think might be a better product in Northcroft from the U.K.

Well designed for those of us who have trouble bending. No complaints. The magnetic depth indicators work fine, but I rarely use that feature. After inserting the tee/ball into the grass, you must pull the Tee Pro up a bit so that you can then lower it and slide it out from your setup. So teeing a ball for an iron shot leaves the ball a little higher than I’d like. I’ve played many rounds with this. It’s sturdy, well made, and essential if you’re uncomfortable bending. Takes only a little while to master.

Does what it claims well. The 2 option for tee height are helpful. If you are over 6 feet 2 inches tall it may be uncomfortable to use as it might be slightly too short requiring you to bend over a bit.

I got this device because I had a hip replaced and it is hard to place the tee. Works great once you adjust the height detectors. If you like a low setting tee this is not for you. It will work with the wide rubber tees, if you cut off most of the taper. I use the modified plastic tees. Cut the tapered part using a razor knife.

Husband had hip replacement and needed help teeing golf balls on course. Since I wasn't with him all the time to asdist, this tool was ideal. Cost seemed high for what it is but works great. Best with Martini tees.

Does the job and needs a bit of practice. When teeing a ball for a drive with a iron it is a bit tougher to get the device free of the tee and ball. Otherwise works as advertised.. Suggest practice with it before your first round. Really does eliminate getting down on your knee before each drive. I can hold the device and the driver at the same time so you don't need a partner to hold be club for you or slow down the game.

We have a friend with back issues, and this worked well for him. It needs a garden stake with a swirl at the top to stick in the ground to hold it or his club while he is on the tee box to save him from going back and forth to his cart after he tees up his ball to get his club.

Easy to use for teeing the ball high for a driver shot or low for a shorter tee shot. Will pick up the tee even if it’s laying on the ground. My golfing buddy loves it.

More stories to check out before you go
For my 30th birthday, one of my best girlfriends came to visit me in Phoenix. She’d just gotten out of a very, very long relationship and was looking for a bit of silliness in her life. The morning before my big party, we got manicures and hit the sex toy shop.
My friend Julie wasn’t familiar with sex toys , so I did my best to show her around. She’d just read Fifty Shades of Grey , which unfortunately gave her a skewed view on what she had to look forward to in the dating world. The book did mention, however, something called “Ben Wa balls.”
I laughed when she asked me about them because, yeah, I knew what they were. Ben Wa balls are little metal balls that you insert in your vagina. They bang around in there and cause stimulation. They can also be used to help strengthen your pelvic floor since you have to stay sort of, well, clenched to keep them in.
Julie demanded we buy some and wear them in celebration of my birthday. I thought it might actually be fun so we each bought a pair of little silver balls and headed home to shower.
While putting on my makeup, Julie wandered into my bathroom walking like a penguin. I didn’t have to ask. I just started laughing while she shouted, “Can you hear them?” (In case you’re wondering, no, I could not hear a pair of metal balls inside my best friend’s vagina.)
I put my own Ben Wa balls inside like they were a pair of fancy jewelry, and off we went to dinner. I got through dinner OK since I sat for most of it. Once we started barhopping, though, I found I had trouble keeping the balls inside. I didn’t really notice the sexual stimulation foretold in Fifty Shades , either. I just felt tense.
By bar number two, I surreptitiously took mine out and stashed them in my purse. Julie was in a separate bathroom stall, and as I washed my hands, I suddenly heard the telltale plink of metal on porcelain followed by a barrage of cuss words. “One fell out!” Julie shrieked.
Needless to say, after the amount of Fireball I’d imbibed, I just giggled. Apparently, Julie was just as inebriated as I was because she did not abandon the fallen Ben Wa — she went fishing. Side note: She rinsed the ball before reinsertion.
Julie caught the attention of an adorable off-duty barman, and it wasn’t long before she admitted to him what she had clanging around downstairs. He seemed fascinated by the idea and followed her around like a puppy desperately in need of adoption. The bartender came home with us, where the partying continued.
By the time 3 a.m. rolled around (much like a rebel Ben Wa), I was ready for birthday sex with my husband. Julie headed to the guest bedroom with sexy bartender guy. She would tell me the next morning that he insisted on removing the balls himself pre-intercourse… which, frankly, sounded kind of gross to me, especially once I had more experience with Ben Wa balls.
Post-birthday, I would sometimes wear them around the house while cleaning. When I went to remove them, there were times when I swore my body had swallowed one and that an ER visit was in my future. Warning: Those balls are sneaky little critters!
Yes, I suppose you could say Julie’s evening with Ben Wa went better than my own, since I wussed out after two bars. I didn’t find the experience to be overly sensual, and having them in made it much harder to strut — or, at least, I felt more cautious in my strutting. The last thing I wanted was a little silver ball falling onto the floor and rolling to a stop in the middle of a romantic restaurant. Ther
