The service and employees were friendly, everyone was being mindful of the Covid pandemic, the room itself was fantastic. It had plenty of room, I loved sleeping on the couch bed near the balcony door and speaking of which the view from the balcony was phenomenal. Its the first time I've been facing the ocean in any place I stayed!! I loved being out on the balcony at all hours of the day. The Golden Sands Club Condos also had an indoor gym and pool on our floor at the very top and swimming was very fun with a glass ceiling and looking out at the ocean! Not to be outdone, but the views from the front of the Golden Sands Club Condos facing the bay was just as fantastic too especially at sunset. On the back deck they had a Tiki Lodge where we got some drinks and we loved facing the ocean on the giant chairs they had. The walk to the beach was only a few steps! Location wise, the Golden Sands Club Condos was right near a Food Lion with everything you could need for convenience. There was always parking available too. They had luggage carts to carry your luggage and transport it easily to all floors. On top of all this the prices were very fair too for all you got! I can't really think of anything I didn't like, it was a very enjoyable weekend staying at the Golden Sands Club Condos. See all photos from James W. Golden Sands, unit has been the condo to finally drive us away from Golden Sands. We have rented at GS for almost twenty years. We have endured the slow elevator speed and long waits for too long. We have found that in this last unit, that it is not well cleaned, dead bugs on the floors in the condo, balcony floor not cleaned, shower floor, corners and glass doors with black mold, shower drain clogged with hair and very slow to drain, shower faucet not working properly, closet doors broken or non-existent, no screen door on the sliding glass balcony door and a broken dishwasher. So, we have decided it is time to move on from Golden Sands to better places. As soon as we arrived at the unit upon check in on Sunday, it was 80 degrees inside and the thermostat was set at 70, obviously there was an AC issue. It was sweltering hot in all rooms. Vacasa maintenance was called, they inspected the unit and said it needed to be replaced as it was over 12 years old and not working. There was nothing they could do and needed to see what the owner wanted as far as replacement. Our young children struggled to sleep each night and during their daytime naps. We requested for portable AC units in the condo to help with the heat which was met with no response and days of waiting. Golden sands HVAC maintenance arrived but ended up telling us that there is nothing to do. The entire unit needed to be updated and that couldn't happen right away so we were to just 'deal with it'. This was definitely unacceptable. We felt extremely frustrated all week and very upset to pay so much money for a condo that has a major air condition issue in the middle of July. We felt that both Vacasa and the owner of Golden Sands dismissed our concerns, and provided unrealistic 'fixes' such as keeping the blinds closed the entire trip to reduce the amount of heat and sunlight coming in. After 4 nights of sweating and writing multiple emails to Vacasa and the owner of the condo, we were told to try and find a hotel room, pay for it, and then they would 'try' to reimburse us. We called a ton of hotels and all were sold out. When we asked to be given some free standing air condition units, we were told there weren't any available. Other issues with the condo include a broken ice maker, broken blinds, showers with no pressure, broken screens to decks etc. The Golden Sands elevators were a complete disaster all week no matter the time. It took mins to go from the 9th floor to the lobby. Sadly, we chose to leave the condo a day early and forfeit our last night of vacation because the conditions were so unbearable. Truthfully, do not rent any unit in Golden Sands! We spoke to numerous tenants who had similar complaints including one that had a huge flood in their condo, destroying the 3 units below as well. If we could give this place, Vacasa and the owner of Unit zero stars, we would. You will be disappointed! We rented condo unit from Shoreline Properties. I called the office at 10am on Saturday morning to see if an early check-in was available. The lady on the phone said we'd receive a text if the room was ready before 3pm. Said it may be ready by or I asked if we could just park in our assigned spots and go to the beach while we waited for She said the housekeepers would be in our spot and that wasn't possible. We got our keys and headed to the Sands. We parked in our spot and began to unpack onto the condo provided carts to take upstairs to the unit. It was chaos in lobby. Upon entering the lobby a Mask Nazi yelled at me to put a mask on. She had zero sympathy for me explaining that I get anxiety wearing a mask, especially in a lobby that was hotter than an oven. The elevator kept being held up over virus fears and only families could enter the elevator alone. It took about a half hour to finally get into an elevator. As we were opening the door to our room, a pair of people asked me if was our unit, upon I replied, 'Uh, yea Oh, and they certainly weren't parked in our spot, as we were already parked. So, basically, I was lied to twice upon my earlier conversation with the office. The unit was filthy upon entrance. The rooms were much smaller than thought. I couldn't unpack because the cleaners had a job to do, so we decided to go down to the patio and tiki bar, but before we went, I thought I could at least hang my clothes in the closet, but when I opened the door to it, there was an opening above the closet dropping water everywhere from the AC ducts. The pillows were wet and moldy in the closet. So I had to call maintenance to fix this as well. We went to the patio, but couldn't sit at the tiki bar as no seats were available. That sneaky virus! BTW, The Plaza has a bar outside with seats there, and no masks required, so I couldn't understand why I couldn't even order a drink at my outside tiki bar without a mask on, which makes it impossible for the bartender to hear what I'm ordering, plus my anxiety from wearing a freaking mask outside in 92 degree weather with a heat index over The drinks and food from the tiki bar were good. I got a text around that my condo was finally available. So much for the beach this day. Got back to the room and the closet was fixed, but still dirty with the wet and moldy pillows. Thankfully we brought our own linens and pillows. The unit was still not very clean. The bed is old and creaky with memory foam. Some outlets were missing covers. The kitchen table seats had spots on the cushions. The TV, despite being a large vizio, didn't have HD channels or any good cable channels available. Give back a little! The indoor pool was also closed, and the outside pool was only allowed 11 people in it at a time, and had to be shut down every two hours, and closed by pm. Other that all of that, we made the best of the situation this week, which was me and my wife's honeymoon. View from balcony is beautiful. Kitchen was nice and updated but odd with no drawers. Only had two butter knives available. Place definitely needs upgraded, which includes all of the furniture and doors to the closets in the room and bedroom. Had high hopes for this place but doubt we will ever return without a good deal and an actual virtual tour to make sure we were getting what our hard earned dollars paid for. Nothing was dusted, poop stains still in our toilets after being sealed as 'clean', handprints all over the mirror, showers covered in other peoples hair and grimy floors, hair in the refrigerator and in the corners of the bathroom floors. Usually a 10 min wait for an elevator We called and were told that someone would come clean, but no one ever did. To think of it never seen a person that was cleaning staff. I have seen more third party security than staff. Our door handle barely works. Will update this review if things change, but not looking good at all! Still handprints on mirrors and bathrooms were still iffy! Ended up spending half a vacation day deep cleaning tue place ourselves. See all photos from Cole R. Beautiful condo, beautiful stay with my beautiful second family. The catch, you have two options: wait ungodly amount of time for a crammed elevator or take the stairs. To further my reasoning behind my rating, the stairs smell like the worst scents you can imagine. Decay, old dead fish, spoiled rotten garbage, old dirty jeans, wet towel, rotted can of anchovies, dirty day old gym sock, I can go on. I mean it's horrid. It's hot and putrid in there smells like the gates of death and you feel like you might see those gates because of that stench. The location is great.. Been going there for years. The new so called director of operations Robert is a joke. Telling a guy he only told him to put out a cigar because the president of the condo board was there. Gave away numerous drinks and shots. Didn't make the right drink for most of the people and had no clue about beer. Kristy was great but Robert should be dismissed. The rest of the facility is taken care of but it is definitely a different feeling at the beach bar. Stayed 2x here through AirBnB. Overall great experience. But besides that we never had any problems here. The elevator situation can get annoying during the busier times but that's minor. Will consider staying again in the future. We just stayed in unit Its immaculate, beautiful and fully updated. We enjoyed watching the sun rise every morning with a cup of coffee. The building is well maintained. Our kids enjoyed the pools, the tennis courts and playing volleyball. Naturally we enjoyed the Tiki Bar. It was great to have a drink and a bite to eat. They make a mean rum and coke. My kids loved the chicken fries. We stayed in Condo The Condo was a mixture of newer and older but the real issue I had was the TV in the 2nd bedroom was not hooked to the cable. There was a cable line coming in, and my Son took the box from the Master room to prove that it worked, the owner did not pay the additional fee to have a cable box. I questioned the women in the downstairs office, she said most owners only connected to 2 tvs. This is not true because my daughter and others I know have had 2 bedrooms in years past, in other condos, and cable has worked in all 3 tvs. She said she would contact the owners, but when I questioned the following day, she had not heard back from them!!! Thus I had no tv all week in my bedroom! That should be to ALL tv's available!! Our next issue was one afternoon after being at the beach, wanting to shower before dinner, found a note on the kitchen counter not to shower till a. What the??? After the beach, seriously! No warning, no direction to a room to shower!! They had sealed a leak that went down 3 floors!!! Guess what! The ice cream shop was a nice plus for an evening treat!
