Yikes! Not the bottom of the J-Franco barrel, but sloshing around dangerously close to it. Still, there are some fun scenes, some humor, and a bit of weirdness. Jess just seems bored here, which is probably pretty accurate, given that his wings had been clipped during the period of time when he was making these Dietrich written flicks.
Toward the end of 1975, Franco was charged with the task of shooting a redo of Mandingo - black slavery, now with extra sex. It was during this ill-fated production that all the chicanery he'd been weaving and bad karma he'd been accruing finally caught up with him in one giant shitstorm. The cast and crew were partying down in a hotel in Spain to find he and Lina had just scarpered out the window one day and left them with the not insubstantial bill, disappearing for a whole two weeks before showing up in Italy. Girls in the Night Traffic is fun. I half-expected a softcore version of a ”lesser” Dietrich-era picture would slog on, but it didn’t. There are parts of the film that reminded me of Tenemos 18 Años . It's a relic, as it is orientalist and there is a sizeable dollop of anti-Islamic sentiment at the tail end; I only endorse Girls in the Night Traffic for completionist Francophiles.
I watched the ”uncut soft version” from the ”Golden Goya Collection, ” which I think is the most common version.
Wasn't expecting much, didn't get much. I don't think the girls wore clothes longer than 30 seconds.

Jess Franco film that has three hookers sitting around telling stories of their previous nights work. One of them gets picked up by a so called artist but he turns out to be a pimp who kidnaps the girl. The other two go to her rescue and take revenge on the pimp. As with several Franco movies, Girls in the Night Traffic is a softcore version while Wilde Lust is the hardcore one. For starters, both films are completely lazy even for Franco standards when it comes to the story. The story that I mentioned above makes no sense in either version and what story there is adds up to around seven minutes while the rest of the running time…
