IN a bizarre case, a Dzivaresekwa man who reportedly fondled and sucked his 22-year-old daughter’s breasts for a year was yesterday hauled to court facing charges of indecent assault. The 49-year-old man was not asked to plead to three counts of indecent assault when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe.
He was remanded in custody to today for bail hearing. Prosecutor Mr George Manokore alleges that the first incident happened in August last year. It is alleged that on an unknown date but in August the man had a misunderstanding with his wife, mother of the complainant.
The mother left home and around 9pm the man entered his daughter’s bedroom intending to inquire on the whereabouts of his wife.
The court heard that the man confided to his daughter that he loved her mother before asking for a hug from her.
The daughter allegedly refused indicating that she was not properly dressed but the man insisted that it did not matter and he proceeded to remove the blankets.
He held his daughter down and started caressing her breast before sucking them. It is alleged that in August, 2012 in the morning the complainant was sleeping alone in her bedroom while her mother and sister had gone to church.
The man asked her daughter to give him porridge. She complied and went back to bed. A few minutes later her father woke her up before he started caressing her breast.
He then openly told his daughter that he was in love with her and reached for her breast. He again reminded her not to disclose the matter. In June this year the man who was supposed to be in Ngezi for work, returned home while his daughter was alone.
The mother had gone out shopping and the man asked his daughter if she had bathed. He then rested his right hand on her shoulder and pulled her close to him with his left hand.
He allegedly slid his hand into her blouse and sucked her breasts. He again reminded her that he so much craved for her. The complainant called her aunt who advised her to tell her mother. The matter was reported to the police leading to the man’s arrest.
