We need to rally against police brutality in Aotearoa with the same energy we have for the BLM movement. It's happening here - our police force is racist and violent.
The reason why we don't see videos of police violence in Aotearoa with much frequency is because police largely direct their violence to low income Māori and Pasifika suburbs, where there are no bystanders to film, and where having a phone and / or internet access is out of reach for many people. But it *IS* hap … pening with disturbing frequency.

The # ArmsDownNZ campaign has seen the end of armed police patrols, but the fight isn't ove … r. Police are brutalising Māori regularly with impunity. This has to end! We need racist, violent police officers taken off our streets whenever they commit acts of unlawful brutality.
