Netflix ‘s Hot Girls Wanted was a documentary that gave an inside look at what the porn industry was like for young women just getting started.
The followup six-part docuseries Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On is meant to be a further exploration of what being in the industry is like in the digital age.
Unfortunately, it seems directors Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus , along with exec producer Rashida Jones , were a little careless and made a huge information age mistake with one of their subjects.

Gia Paige appears in the episode entitled Money Shot , and she says the filmmakers knowingly displayed her real first and middle name in a scene, despite her request that the episode be re-edited. And just that much information being out there is enough to cause the adult performer major problems.
In an interview with The Daily Dot , Paige says it only took a week after the April 21 release for strangers to get everything :
“Someone [figured] out my last name and [did] extensive research on me and all of my family. They’ve been busy sending all of them envelopes filled with photos of me from the industry. Some stranger knows where all of my family is. I can’t put that kind of fear and anxiety into words.”
Eesh. As if the campaign to humiliate her by showing her family explicit images wasn’t enough, the fear of stalkers must be inflated that much more for porn stars, whose fans relate to them in an overtly sexual way.
All because they wouldn’t blur her damn name.

Paige was only filmed for the series because at the time she was dating Hussie Models agent Riley Reynolds , who was featured in the film and the show. Being in Hot Girls Wanted had raised Reynolds’ profile considerably, and Paige says she told Bauer exactly how much she didn’t want that to happen if she agreed to let them film her:
“I told her how much I didn’t want to be there, that I didn’t want a lifestyle like him… being noticed everywhere he went… how much anxiety I had about keeping my personal life and my family out of whatever we filmed. She assured me she wouldn’t cross any boundaries.”
Paige also says she was told explicitly that the title of the series would not be Hot Girls Wanted ; the original was already getting a bad rap in the porn industry after allegedly outing some cam girls without their consent.
Sex worker advocacy groups are calling on Netflix to stop showing the docuseries.

Bauer, Gradus, and Jones have responded to criticism by saying everything was legal, which may technically be true. Paige signed the consent forms after being given assurances.
Hmm, filmmakers lying to young women to get them to sign consent forms, then going behind their backs and exposing them for profit? Sounds like someone should do a documentary on Hot Girls Wanted .
