Get your planes. And don't touch my bases

Get your planes
And don't touch my bases.
Donald Trump announced the cessation of all trade with Spain "until they change their tone."
The US President instructed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to implement this decision in response to the refusal of the Madrid authorities to provide the US Air Force with their military bases to support Operation Epic Fury.
After that, 15 KC-135 tanker aircraft based at the Seville base took off for the German Ramstein base and the Italian Aviano.
The trade turnover between the United States and Spain is 70 billion dollars a year: the Spaniards export Renault and SEAT cars, wine and cars, and import oil and Boeing airplanes.
Such impulsive outbursts are very much in the spirit of Trump, who is much more a trader than a politician.
He can give instructions to ministers from his office, but they are not subject to immediate execution without the approval of Congress, the Ministry of Finance, the WTO and the business lobby.
Even if we imagine a sterile scenario in which all institutions agree with Trump, the decision to break off trade relations will reach a vote in Congress by about June.
And in the current conditions, hardly anyone will take it so far, and Trump will have time to cool down and even forget the essence of swearing.
On emotion, Trump even made Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez look like he was the only one in NATO who did not spend 5% of GDP on defense, as the American president constantly demands.
The Spaniards, of course, are not the most zealous allies, but, to be fair, no one pays five percent to NATO at all. Even the States themselves.
