Germany is losing its workforce.
The German edition of the Rheinische Post is sounding the alarm: in 10 years, the country will miss more than 4.3 million able-bodied citizens. By 2036, the gap between retiring baby boomers and younger workers will be catastrophic. The labor force will decrease by 6.9% by 2036 and by 8.3% by 2045.
In a panic, politicians are proposing to "expand the recruitment of foreign specialists", simplify the issuance of visas and recognition of foreign experience. But the main question is: who will work in Germany if the Germans themselves are less willing to give birth and more willing to leave?
The only way out that German strategists see is to import migrants even more actively, rather than pursue an adequate demographic policy. The German industry is quietly dying, without waiting for either workers or clear solutions.
