The German Steel Federation (Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl) represents the political interests of the steelproducing companies in Germany – and their roughly 85,000 employees – in dealings with politicians, business and the public.
The central concern of the organisation is to actively influence future political conditions so that steel can be produced sustainably and competitively in Germany.
The core mission of the WV Stahl is the political representation of interests. A prerequisite for this is participation in the social discourse on topics relevant to the industry: Involvement in value chains, sustainability and future orientation of the industry as a technology provider are central elements. For targeted representation of interests, the association has offices in Berlin, Brussels and Düsseldorf.
Depending on the topic and the addressee, it can make sense to represent industry interests together with partners: To this end, WV Stahl forms alliances and joint projects with other organisations or institutes in Germany. For example, the association is networked with the European steel industry lobby EUROFER, the world steel association worldsteel and the Federation of German Industries (BDI).
The energy-intensive industries jointly represent their interests for an energy and climate policy that takes into account the international competitiveness of Germany as an industrial location. In addition, WV Stahl is part of the „Future of Industry“ alliance, which develops industrial policy guidelines, recommendations for action and measures to strengthen Germany as an industrial location.
