Hello folks:
I received an E-mail from someone written completely in English, except it contained the German words "geiler arsch." It was hard to tell if the person who wrote the message was angry or not, as she was communicating in her second language (English). I think the key might be the exact meaning of the German words. This is all the context I can give, as it was a message of a personal nature.
I tried looking up the individual words in the WordReference dictionary, but the definition of each word left a lot of room for ambiguity.
Any translation to English would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance... E. de V.
No room for ambiguity I'd say.
It's just:
"Nice ass" (makes me horny)
...
But come to think of it, "Arsch" might, under some circumstances, also be meant to adress a person. More context would be helpful.

I never saw or heard it for a man, but I am not sure if this is excluded.

I am sure that women also will occasionally refer to an attractive man's bottom as "geiler Arsch", "Knackarsch", "knackiger Arsch", etc.
"Schau mal da drüben, hat der nicht einen geilen Arsch (knackigen Arsch)?!"
I think Hutschi was wondering whether it could be used to refer to the actual person, not to their posterior.

In this case it means something like "sexual attractive woman with excellent forms" in a kind of youth slang language.
I would not use it myself. But I cannot think that somebody says to a girl: "Geiler Arsch!" to address her. Is this used in some environments?

Hello
I can imagine two situations in which this combination of words might be used:
1) As discussed above, an appraising comment on a certain external feature of a person that appears sexually attractive to the speaker of the words. In this case, the words refer to the external feature.
2) I think that a woman might use these words, with a very negative meaning. For instance, to describe a (male) colleague who harasses her, making unsuitable comments etc. In this case, "geil" would mean "horny", and the word "Arsch" would not refer to the external feature, but to the person as a whole .. a**hole.

Austrian (as opposed to Australian)

I agree with the above posters that it's highly ambiguous without further context.
However, from what I've experienced, "geiler Arsch" is most often used in the sense of "(s/he has a) hot ass" - and have heard it used in this sense by men about women, women about men, men about men and women about women.
To express that somebody is an asshole due to them being overly horny, I've usually heard other constructions to stress the negative meaning of the phrase, often with "notgeil".
A third meaning that I've also come across once or twice is a combination of both; namely, somebody acts like an ass, but the person saying this phrase still thinks he's hot.
Thank you to all for your input. As I stated above, the message was personal, so I can't explain further. But it is clear after reading your in-depth discussion that my friend was refering to someone as a "horny asshole."
Thanks again... E. de V.
