We know what you're thinking: Only six sex scenes from Game of Thrones made the list? And while we would love to spend all day watching (and re-watching... and re-watching) every GOT love scene ever made, the truth is that there are a few that are pretty deserving to be the most watched.
Not only does HBO push limits in terms of its often incestuous sex scenes, but through its complex characters and storylines, it also exposes audiences to a whole new level of steaminess. Balance the outlandish sex scenes with war, betrayal, love and greed and you've pretty much got the whole Seven Kingdoms vibe down pat.
Check out these top-ranked Game of Thrones sex scenes.
With Season 7's finale, social media blew up during the long-awaited hookup between Daenerys and Jon Snow (also known as aunt and nephew, but nbd). This makes the list simply because of all the hype it received — plus, there's something hot about forbidden love.
Plus, we got to see Jon Snow's butt! And even though the way Snow's history was revealed during the love scene was pretty gross and/or creepy, hearing director Jeremy Podeswa's thoughts on the scene almost makes incest seem... sweet.
While this may seem like old news, it makes the list of hottest Game of Thrones sex scenes because at the time, it broke a million taboos.
After this sex scene in the show's pilot episode, we pretty much knew exactly what we were in for. "The things we do for love", right? Just forget they're brother and sister and admire the dedication.
Dany was in some serious need of a sexual pep talk after her graphic scenes consummating her marriage with Khal Drago, and Doreah, a former pleasure house worker, knew the effective talking points to hit and buttons to touch.
Doreah gave Dany all the right ways to alter her dynamic with her warrior husband and control her sexual relationship: mainly by the cowgirl position and eye contact. To quote: "You will make him like it, Khaleesi. Men want what they've never had."
Thanks to Doreah's magic touch, Dany now feels confident enough to take control in the bedroom, refusing her Dothraki leader husband's advances at doggy style (which, up until this point was the only position the two had been intimate — completely degrading, if you ask us) and climbing on top of him instead.
She tells him, "tonight I would look upon your face" and they form an intimate connection, forever changing the dynamic of their relationship.
During this scene , Jon Snow broke his celibacy vow of the Night's Watch and introduced us to one of the greatest sex scenes of all time.
Plus, he proved to us that he does know something. In fact, if you're looking for advice on how to give oral in a dimly lit cave, we think Ygritte will be able to vouch for Jon's legitimacy — if she were around to, that is.
Social media went crazy when Missandei and Grey Worm finally got together. Not only have fans long been awaiting this moment, but the scene showcased the importance of how far these two have come: Missandei was a slave but is now one of Daenerys' closest advisors, while Grey Worm is an Unsullied soldier — which means he was castrated at birth.
We love this scene because it's symbolic of the fact that you don't need a certain set of genitals to get down to business. In fact, it's pretty clear that Grey Worm is totally capable of pleasuring Missandei, despite not having a traditional set of genitals. (Maybe he asked Jon Snow for advice?)

GAME of Thrones is in its seventh season, yet it only took one episode to know that they were never going to shy away from shocking sexual encounters.
WHILE Game of Thrones is now in its seventh season, it only took one episode to know that they were never going to shy away from even the most shocking of sexual encounters.
Over the course of the fantasy epic, we’ve found out that pretty much anything goes in Westeros; incest, threesomes, orgies, bloodsucking, cave sex, you name it. There’s truly nothing the show is afraid to touch, and we’ve consistently been left with a slew of steamy scenes that are impossible to forget (or maybe there are so many that they all blend into one massive skin-fest).
Many of our favourite, sex-having characters have met their tragic (or well-deserved) ends, but that doesn’t mean we can’t stop and enjoy their erotic endeavours in Wild, Wild Westeros. Whether Stark, Lannister, Martell, Sand, Snow, Targaryen, or even Bolton (ugh), pretty much every character on this series has experienced some kind of sexy time over the course of the past seven seasons.
In celebration of the recently-consummated relationship of fan-favourites Missandei and Grey Worm, we’ve compiled some of the steamiest scenes in the history of Game of Thrones . These encounters have occurred across climates, genders, age-groups, marriages, and more — the intercourse on this show truly knows no bounds. While we stop thinking about all the Thrones-related sex puns there are to make, take some time to look back at the steamiest sex had on this insane show.
The Episode: Season 1, Episode 1, Winter Is Coming
The Game: As a brothel superstar, Ros has many a partner during her Game of Thrones tenure, but our introduction to Tyrion (and their endearing, sexy chemistry) paints the perfect picture of what’s to come.
The Episode: Season 1, Episode 1, Winter Is Coming
The Players: Jaime & Cersei Lannister
The Game: The first time we find out just how close the Lannister siblings are, they’re getting it on in an empty tower. Unfortunately for young Bran Stark, accidentally bearing witness to this icky encounter evidently gets him pushed out of said tower and permanently paralysed, an action Jaime attributes to “love”.
The Episode: Season 1, Episode 2, The Kingsroad
The Game: Things get off to a rocky (rapey) start for this arranged couple, but Dany seeks the counsel of some particularly talented friends and winds up finding out that sex can be fun for her, too. In a move that surprises her new husband, she takes control and gets on top, and the two share something a lot more passionate than their first encounters. Talk about a Mother of Dragons, amiright?
The Episode: Season 1, Episode 5, The Wolf and the Lion
The Game: You might remember Theon better now as a sad, psychologically-damaged puppy, but in the early day of Thrones , he was a complete and total misogynist man whore. In one of many sexy times he spent with Ros, the two played rough and tested each others’ boundaries — in more way than one.
The Episode: Season 2, Episode 2, The Night Lands
The Game : Stannis is so desperate for power he’ll do just about anything, including succumbing to his lust for this fiery lady and creating a demon shadow baby on top of the table that holds all of their plans for conquering Westeros. We can’t help but wonder how the Lord of Light felt about this one.
The Episode: Season 2, Episode 3, What Is Dead May Never Die
The Game: While they get into too big of a tiff to actually go through and have sex in this particular encounter, the forbidden duo’s chemistry is totally electric. Here, Loras loses his temper with Renly and ditches him for the evening, but they clearly get off on this game of push and pull.
The Episode: Season 2, Episode 8, The Prince of Winterfell
The Game: It’s pretty obvious from their first meeting that Robb and Talisa seriously want to get it on, so it comes as no surprise when they finally frantically strip down and have sex on the floor of Robb’s tent. It’s one of the rare sexual encounters on Thrones that features actual love and sweetness rather than rage-driven lust, making their future grisly fate even more difficult to deal with.
The Episode: Season 3, Episode 3, Walk of Punishment
The Game: Say what you want about Tyrion, but the man takes care of his friends. When poor young Podrick’s lack of sexual experience becomes obvious, he sets him up with some of his favourite ladies in the brothel, leaving him with three very eager, experienced friends ready to help gain him some real-world knowledge.
The Episode: Season 3, Episode 5, Kissed by Fire
The Game: Jon Snow proved he knew a little more than nothing in this long-anticipated indulgence of these two characters’ fieriest desires, and it does not disappoint. After being led into this sexy cave by spunky redhead Ygritte, this future King in the North also proves to be a King of the South, much to Ygritte’s surprise. While cave sex can’t be super hygienic, it’s always nice to see some characters on this godforsaken show have brief moments of happiness.
The Episode: Season 3, Episode 7, The Bear and the Maiden Fair
The Players: Theon, Myranda, and Violet
The Game: Poor, poor Theon/Reek. After being tortured by Ramsay, he is surprised to find himself in the middle of some sort of relief — a sexy threesome. Little does he know, however, that this ill-fated encounter is part of the torture too, and is the last time he’ll ever get to get it on.
The Episode: Season 3, Episode 8, Second Sons
The Players: Melisandre, Gendry, and some leeches
The Game: Another man subjected to the wicked workings of another, Gendry finds himself in what he thinks is a very, very hot situation with our Red Priestess after she seduces him and ties him up in bed. Unsuspecting Gendry has no idea that his blood is needed for some very specific dark magic, so when she pulls out some leeches and sics them on him, he understandably freaks out. This is not the kink he bargained for.
The Episode: Season 4, Episode 3, Breaker of Chains
The Players: Oberyn, Ellaria & Company
The Game: It’s no secret that the Dornish are pretty much down for anything, and they prove this early on during a visit to the infamous King’s Landing brothel, where they get a gang together for their erotic exploits. While Oberyn might have only really had eyes for Ellaria no matter how many genitalia were flying around him, in the end, we know he ends up with no eyes at all.
The Episode: Season 5, Episode 5, Kill the Boy
The Game: Ramsay is a monster on many, many levels, including with the poor (and slightly evil) Myranda, who is unhealthily obsessed with him. Despite her jealousy of Sansa and sass with Ramsay, she totally gives into playing rough with him, indulging his grossest, most sadistic fantasies.
The Episode: Season 5, Episode 7, The Gift
The Game: It’s so nice when sex is not death-related, or forced, or creepy on this show. This sweet, relatively normal intercourse between the super hot, bearded Daario and our Khaleesi makes our hearts a little warm and fuzzy, mainly because she deserves a nice guy after everything she’s been through. While their conversation turns to strategy (and sees her reveal that she is not down to get married), the build-up is incredibly passionate.
The Episode: Season 7, Episode 2, Stormborn
The Game: Ugh, it’s ABOUT TIME! These two adorable, loyal followers of Dany have been making eyes at each other for longer than we can remember, and finally getting to see them strip down and explore each other was so satisfying. While this brief moment of bliss will probably be quickly forgotten in all the violence to come, it’s totally appropriate to treasure this passionate, sexy scene as long as we can.

COVID-19 has forced author George R.R. Martin to churn out more pages in his long-awaited Game Of Thrones book six, pushing forward the release date. But that’s two years too late after the TV series went its own way, Duncan Lay writes.
He was killed off in season four but that didn’t stop Charles Dance enjoying further seasons of Game of Thrones. That is, until the finale came along.
Information from the casting call for the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel has disclosed who the leading characters will be.

The Khal Drogo Scene In Game Of Thrones That Went Too Far

By Emily Gilbert AND Nina Starner / Updated: April 26, 2022 10:34 am EDT
With her unshakable determination and indomitable strength of will, it's easy to see why Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clark) is the favorite character of many " Game of Thrones " enthusiasts. It's also understandable why the show's final season was so universally hated , considering Dany's inexcusable actions at King's Landing and her fate at the hands of Jon Snow (Kit Harrington). Still, it's the writers who got blamed for Dany's downfall, not the character herself.
It may be that Daenerys is a truly great leader, with her three dragons and an Earth-shaking force that no army can stand against, but the truth is that she would have gotten nowhere if it weren't for Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa). It's out of respect for Drogo that the Dothraki even tolerate Daenerys at first, and it's his strength as a leader that boosts her own confidence. Drogo lifted her up as a true khaleesi , not just another conquest or a trophy wife.
Now, that's not to say that Khal Drogo is a character to be admired. He is a ruthless, violent man who rapes and pillages and sells slaves — all of which is expected behavior for a Dothraki ruler, and all of which ultimately made him the khal he is at the beginning of "Game of Thrones." He takes what he wants and he does what he feels like without restraint or consequence. If anything, Drogo might be considered a stepping stone on Dany's path to greatness, but he shouldn't be credited with making her who she becomes by the series' end. Drogo does a lot of really messed up things during "Thrones," – but one of them stands out above the rest as the absolute worst.
In the beginning, before she becomes the "Mother of Dragons," Daenerys is just a victim — a tool to be used to slake the desires of both her brother, Viserys (Harry Lloyd), who lusts for power, and Khal Drogo, who lusts for a pretty, silver-haired Westerosi woman. Dany is given to Khal Drogo as a gift from Viserys, who is hoping for a large, formidable Dothraki army — a khalasar — in exchange to win back the Iron Throne. Although Dany and Drogo come to love one another in their own way, things don't quite start out as an ideal romance made in heaven.
After the wedding celebration in the series' pilot, "Winter is Coming," Drogo takes Dany to a scenic hilltop to consummate their marriage — but it's not the honeymoon night of Dany's dreams. As Drogo strips her of her clothes, Dany begins to weep, and Drogo wipes her tears away. He then utters the single word he knows of the Common tongue: "No." It seems like Drogo can't stand to see his new bride cry, but that doesn't stop him from forcing Dany to have sex.
This scene caused many fans of the show a lot of discomfort but was especially despised by fans of the books that "Game of Thrones" were based on, "A Song of Ice and Fire." The scene plays out quite differently in the original text, with Drogo actually being much more gentle with his new wife. Daenerys in the book is only 13 years old, though, as opposed to being 16 in the show, which makes the whole thing that much more icky. So, yeah, any way you slice it, that scene leaves a bad taste in viewers' mouths.
Of course, as fans know, Khal Drogo and Daenerys' relationship takes a pretty huge turn before long. After asking her handmaidens how she can connect more closely with Drogo, Dany shows her inner strength during the couple's intimate moments, and Drogo not only respects, but loves his wife before long, honoring her with gifts and even showing her uncharacteristic affection.
When Dany realizes she's carrying Drogo's child, the khal is overjoyed, especially when female members of his khalasar proclaim that their child will be a powerful warrior — specifically, the "stallion who mounts the world." After a ceremony where a pregnant Dany eats an entire horse heart to make her child strong, Drogo declares that, per his wife's wishes, he and his men will cross the sea to Westeros to overtake King's Landing and the Iron Throne, which Dany and Viserys believe is their birthright as Targaryens, and Daenerys announces that their son will be named "Rhaego," after her late brother Rhaegar.
Sadly, Drogo ends up losing his life as Season 1 ends; after killing one of his own men to defend Dany's honor, the khal contracts a dangerous blood infection, and when Dany makes a deal with a godswife to try and treat him, she only ends up making his condition worse when the supposed healer leaves Drogo in a catatonic state as revenge. Dany ultimately loses the man she loves — and, thanks to his funeral pyre, gains three dragons — but it's always worth remembering that their relationship gets off to a, well, rocky start.
