David Steffen was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1948. He spent 28 years in the entertainment industry, and along the way worked with a long list of successful recording artists. In addition to the musical performers, he worked with producers Toby Byron and Robert Mugge to produce and distribute music documentary films including "Pride & Joy: The Story of Alligator Records" (1992), "Kingdom of Zydeco" (1994), and "Gather At The River" (1994). His first book, "From Edison to Marconi: The First Thirty Years of Recorded Music" was published in 2005. His degrees include a Bachelor of Arts from Fairfield University (2001) and a Master of Arts from New York University (2003). He resides in Mendocino County, California and blogs at wordpress.com.
