There are just TOO MANY.
Here's what I'm after:
No bezel (or very small bezel)
Arabic numerals (or at least VERY prominent hour markers)
40-44mm case
100m WR
Good looking lume (I know that's subjective but some of the dressier ones don't seem to have what would be a prominent lume)

Here's mine. It doesn't get a ton of wrist time anymore, but I thought it was really good value. Easy to read, prominent lume, fits comfortably, looks great on nylon/NATO.
SNZG15 (or SNZG13 with the bracelet)
Usually wear it on black or the black/gray striped fake bond style.

SEIKO 5 Finder - Searchable Seiko 5 Catalog
Search by movement type or model name. You're pretty much only looking at the Seiko 5 Sport models and not the 'classic' Seiko 5. Models that start with SNK are the older style with (typically) a 4:00 crown and the 7S26 movement. Sizing on those is roughly 36-39mm and tend to be dressy or dressy-ish. The newer Sport models are the ones that start with SRP and use the 4R36 movement, which hacks and hand-winds. Some older Seiko 5 Sport models have the older 7S26/36 movement, but are *frequently* sized within the 40-45mm ballpark. These have the SNZ prefix.
Short version:
SRP = ideal
SNZ = fine
SNK = small. Fine, but small. Probably not what you're looking for.
Also realize that some people are put off by the Seiko 5 name and badging, so there are some models out there which are Seiko 5 Sport watches essentially in all but name. The SRP703 and SRP711 (and related watches) are examples of that. These are typically overseas models where the stigma of Seiko 5 branding is highest.
So I'd be looking for something like:
The SRP707 or 711 family-- other colors exist as well (not actually a Seiko 5 in terms of how they market it, but it's basically a Seiko 5.)
SNZG15 (or a related version in a different color) Pricing is wonky on these right now. Historic pricing is more like $125-150, so I'm not sure what to suggest on this model with it going for $200+
SRP623 (but this is kind of a "baby" version of a slightly higher end SARG009/011. The SARG009 is actually the smaller of the two, but it's not tiny. Worth a look, as the higher end SARB is at really low pricing right now. For the low $300s, it's very much worth considering.

I don't think the SRP7 family of watches have lume but they all 42mm dress watches with the 4R3x series movement and have hacking and hand-winding features. Look these up:

SRP715
I have the SRP701 and SRP703 and I like them in spite of how little wrist time they get. They look comically big on my wrist but they are great looking and running watches nonetheless.

BevoWatch's pics definitely sold me on the SNZG. It also fills the need for a watch for summer. I really feel like steel bracelets don't look as good with short sleeves and the cream coloring should "go" with just about anything in my wardrobe. I suspect this will get a little more wrist time than my Bernhardt once the warm weather ramps up.
I was REALLY close to going with the SRP635 for the hacking/handwinding - but 44mm being the very top of my comfort zone and the extra 100 bucks (on Amazon anyway) scared me off. I prefer the SRP numerals, but it's a compromise on my first "5".
Regardless---- I was able to snag the SNZG ( http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-Sport-A...psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00 ) for JUST OVER 20 BUCKS. I applied for an Amazon card which got me an 80 dollar Amazon gift card. I'm glad I took my time and got feedback from WUS-fam.

SEIKO 5 Finder - SRP249 Automatic Watch
41mm hand winding, hacking, fixed bezel, prominent 6 and 12, good lume, and a moon watch flavor!
That looks great. I have been wearing the SNZG 13/15 with the black face as a casual watch for a year and I love everything about it. It looks great with Nato straps- try to pick up a couple so you can change up the look every now and again
